i was just watching these again and was checking into the puff of smoke on decel every time.
the deep vacuum section of my map (left-most column) has wayyyy too much fuel (see dyno video), so when i let off the gas i get into that column and an inordinate amount of fuel is dumped into the engine on decel, then the decel fuel-cut activates and it stops. i also have the fuel cut delay set at .25s, and the smoke only seems to happen for about that amount of time then stop.
and when i say too much fuel on decel i mean about 1.0ms of fuel from ID2000 primary injectors. most other maps run less than .5ms on primary injectors that are about 1/4 the size. so it was doing the same thing on the dyno, but i think on the track the cold outside air was cooling off the exhaust enough for it to not always ignite the fuel on decel, just smoke. so i'll be fixing this before the next track day.

I really don't know much about tuning but I've heard of people dumping fuel like this to help cool things down... Maybe that's the case in this scenario? There are quite a few contributing factors but maybe take note of the running temps out on track? log? see if you notice a difference =-)

i know people dump fuel on decel to cool things off, manny, but not 1ms+ of fuel from id2000s (in rotary applications anyway).
i was out last night and i added another load column to my fuel table and removed a lot of fuel from the area. i also turned off the decel fuel cut feature and got everything running as smoothly as possible (and as lean as possible on decel) so it's mostly fixed now. much much better.

Yep definitely too keep the apex seals cool.
I've lost 2 engines (didn't blow just lost power and compression) over the last 7 years and both had around 7k track miles and both due to warped apex seals.
Also if no OMP it's a good idea to toss in some fuel for lube.
My car was also smoking like crazy and filling the oil up with gas. Turned down the decel fuel and the smoke went away but still filling the oil some, hopefully it's a rich tune but never had this issue until this most recent build/tune.

I'm very interested to see the continued use of your EFR kit on the track so please keep us posted as you continue to do events.
I'll be at Putnam in June with KYPCA and it'd be great to see the car in person there if you're interested in a return trip to Indiana.

fritz are you using the OMP/PFC and no pre-mix?

i've been bored the last few days, so i decided i'd change the angle of the "V" in my vmount setup, which mainly just means i tilted my intercooler back.
i wanted to do this to promote airflow through the IC (front to back) out of the hood vent, as the IC mounted "flat" didn't seem ideal.

Jacob, my single turbo FD did the same thing(smoke) in the same turn at PP. That was the only turn on the 7-8 tracks I drove at the time that it would smoke. I actually got blackflagged at one point for the smoke. They checked out the car and engine bay then sent me back on my way. I'll be interested to see if that fixes your problem the next time you are there. Either way, glad to see you guys hitting track days frequently and can't wait to see how your EFR holds up with extended use on track.

thanks for the input, brent. now that you mention it, the smoke didn't happen at road atlanta. interesting.
as for the EFR, hopefully i can do this 2-day Barber event with BMWCCA at the end of May. that would definitely make for a workout

Oil slosh up the filler tube causing the smoke?
I may be a little behind in this discussion but there was a baffle plate that came with my dad's fd that used to be a hard core track day car.

i did catch oil in my catch can for the first time during this track event.
i think it is from boosting during a hard fast right hand sweeper, from oil sloshing up the filler neck. the stock FD oil pan is baffled pretty well, but it's not perfect.

so i made a new oil cooler return line to replace the janky broken one. i heat shrinked some foam onto it for a little more protection, and also added some rubber between the new line and any place where it was touching metal.

hopefully i dont have that problem again
