Edit: I bet you are using larger rear tires than I am - I have 285/30/18 on all four corners

This assumes of course that that tires conform to the size marked on them.

Apologies for readability - there doesn't seem to be a true fixed width font on this forum.

BTW, when you *can* get third on a course, it is a blast.

Jake , Dan shipped your Diff Cradle. When you install, it may slip over the 14 mm studs. If not, there are two jam nuts in the box to remove the studs. We had to remove the studs on ours, it is designed for a close fit to the diff case.

What is your current suspension setup? Spring rates, alignment specs, ride height, anti-roll bars, tire pressures with the A6s.

Just curious how my setup compares to others with FDs. Here is my setup:
Springs: I'm running 16k front, 13k rear springs (Its actually a 14k spring, but the rear lower shock mount is moved inboard, so effectively a 13k spring in comparison).
Alignment: -3.2 degrees front, -2.5 degrees rear camber. 0.0625" toe out front, 0.03125" in rear, 5 degrees front caster. I think I'm going to try less camber in the rear, maybe -1.8 or -2.0 in order to obtain more forward grip on power.
Anti-Roll Bars0.125" tripoint front bar, in middle adjustment hole. Stock touring rear bar.
Tires/Pressures 285/30/18 front, 32 psi. 315/30/18 rear, 30 psi.
Ride Height 25.25" front, 25.625" rear.

Anti-Roll Bars: Big tubular tripoint front bar set two from full stiff, Stock (r1/touring unknown) rear bar.
Tires/Pressures 315/30/18 front, 27 psi. 335/30/18 rear, 27 psi.
Ride Height 5.5" front to frame rail, 6" rear to frame rail.

Now on Penske 8300 DA
GTX3076R turbo
412whp

2014 SCCA Solo National Championship SSM Runner Up (2nd Place) behind Matt Glagola in his Lotus Elise.

Lastly, I no long use my 93 FD on the circuits, I've switched to a full tube chassis Sevens Only race car. It's 2000lbs, 235whp, NA 13BPP with a dog ring Jerico. Soooo much fun in NASA TT3.

Not sure how you can compete in TT3 with a sevens racing car but I bet it's fun to drive and you have me thinking

Do you run at Watkins Glen? What's your lap time?

Thanks!

I ran a 2:07.6 at WGI last sept on fresh 245 A6s.

http://www.nasa-tt.com/Northeast_Reg...1_articleid/68

This year the rules provided for a 0.7 PTW modifier for non production car penalty in TT3/2/1.

I'm confused. So last year you ran in TT2 and this year with a -.7 penalty you are in TT3

Anywho the guys I run with are all going to all be sub 2.03 at Watkins

Hell there are guys in TT2 running 1.59s and TT3 runnings 01s at VIR so it's super competitive.

I'm certainly not the fastest TT3 car/driver in the world. Also, that weekend at WGI was the first time I can say the car felt good and resolved the chassis issues that came with a turn key car. As far as my class, it should be noted the 245 size DOT tire is a +0.7 add back so it's a wash with the non production car factor. The car is a TT3 car. I run it where the competition is at any given moment and more specially where I think I can win. So TT3/2/1/U are all fair game for a TT3 car.

Are you going to add any aero?

Been considering it but The car works. It's already got almost a flat bottom. The chin air damn spoiler is disposable and fits one and off the trailer. The car feel really neutral right now. A wing might add too much drag for this low torque engine and the spiller is just a headache when I go 4 off or pull on the trailer.

Your thinking is exactly like mine but I can't get away with keeping things the same because I'm getting KILLED. At the last event I came in 2nd but was 3 seconds away from 1st (only 4 cars). I'm usually on the podium but my last victory was 3 events ago Most of the cars cough cough other than mine have MASSIVE wings etc..... If I want a chance at 1st I'll need to do something and soon or I won't even be placing LOL.

Do you usually lift that much tire or is that particular picture taken off a dip/apex? If you are lifting that much, you may want to consider softening the front or stiffening the rear up a bit. That loss of contact patch is time off your lap.

Some of the fastest SCCA and timeattack guys I know make it a priorty to have BOTH FRONT tires flat throughout the course. Sometimes this means changing rates/alignment per track. But it works and they win. Also, as Fritz mentioned before, AERO is the other key. You def need a front splitter to match that rear wing. If adding a splitter induces oversteer, then adjust the springs/alignment accordingly. Just my .02

I thought Flynn was talking about aero on the NASA track car. Yes, for SCCA Solo I am planning a front splitter over the winter. As for the wheel lift, I finally got around to testing with and without the rear bar connected. For years, I ran no rear bar and lifted the front wheel 6 inches on every turn. I was faster with the rear bar connected after learning to discipline my right foot at corner exited and leanring to enter corners with higher speeds. So no, the tire doesn't lift like that anymore.

Update:

1. Installed new front oem wheel bearings assembly and new outer tie rod ends from hinson bump steer kit.
2. Fitting Chinese eBay carbon fiber fenders 30mm wider. Cutting will be necessary to keep running the 315/30/18s on 18x11 7.5in bs CCW Classics.
3. Right before the 2015 SCCA nationals, the ecu got corrupt and setting scattered everywhere. Very unusual problem but eventually IRP was able to identify the failure and Dave at Speed1 was able to get the car running decently the week before the 2015 championships. It still had several issues including throttle hesitations, terrible cold start properties, and no power over 100*C water temp. I've since been educating myself on the ECU settings. I think the cold start issues are gone now by updating cold start ign timing. I also was found what looked like an aggressive fuel compensation as water temps rose over 100. So that should be fixed. As for the throttle hesitation, I think adjustments to "injector accel" settings are needed. In fact Dave had made adjustments and improvements before the championships but we ran out of time. More fine tuning is needed. I will experiment more and report improvements.

AJ Hartman Aero wing is strong and super light with downforce/mph info shared data avalable from him for various angle settings. He handled the fab work for the uprights using my old trunk mounts that me and my buddy made. He also did an awesome quick release splitter assembly fron the front aero. Night and day front grip. He could have made it carbon but I cheaped out and he use signboard material I supplied (lexan core sandwiched in aluminum outer bread)

Come back and kill cones.

I didn't compete this year in SSM so I didn't lose. He won. His car is great and he drove well. Next year we shall see.

(I ran my buddy's 2016 ProSolo SM Championship Subaru STI in SM and place 4th this year.)

Hey Jake!

Are you still running 1000/900 spring rates? and 4.77 gearing? I am thinking of changing my spring rates from 900/750 to 1000/850. Also, I am planning on upgrading my wheel/tire combo from 18 x 10 to 18 x11 wheel size and 285/30/18s to 315/30/18s. I still need to go with the big wing, but that will be another year due to money. Well, I look forward to seeing you and the RX7 in SSM. We definitely need more RX7 in SSM since I was the only one representing at National.
