Yeah my car is a early 93 so it has FC calipers. My understanding is that they're the same calipers with different Mazda logos. I could be always be wrong though.

I don't know if we talked or not but I'll certainly be at DGRR 2013. The car will look completely different in a week or two.

are you painting the car the same color? Can't wait to see the 99 spec conversion come to life, I have decided that's something I want to do as well eventually.
Thanks! I've always wanted a FD so now that I finally have it, I plan to make it my own. The 99 spec conversion has always been my favorite modification with some minor exterior mods. I'll slowly get it just right with a little more time. The color will be a slight modification of Montego Blue, it should look pretty cool. I've always loved the way MB looks when it's completely new. Almost looks like a different color altogether.

That would explain why my 94 front ring harness/engine harness did not power on the fans properly. I ended up swapping it out for a 93 one later on. Maybe we could use the process of elimination to figure out which wires should be where. I'll see if I can trace mine down when I get my car back and get back to you.

Got some more goodies in the mail, sorry for the lower resolution on some. My painter sent them via txt so they're lower res.

Got my new CCW wheels in, they're a hybrid street/race setup. They're incredibly hard to get a decent picture of because they're polished so vividly. Definitely had buyer's remorse until I saw them out of the package, now I couldn't imagine a different wheel setup!

Needed more ignition power than the Twin Power with R6725-105 plugs. I kept trying different coils and tuning but it just wasn't holding up to the increased load. Decided to go a different route and setup four AEM smartcoils in direct-fire orientation via C. Ludwig's advice and help. Should solve my problems!

Paint job is making huge progress as well, should see some shiny stuff next week! I'm stoked!

Wow - great story to date, can't wait to see her with the new paint. While not working on his ride, Aaron has graciously been donating his time and expertise at my place as I attempt an oddly similar resuscitation of a 93 touring...

Manifold cracked this weekend at a car show (well got worse this weekend). Lots of crazy cars there, all through the 1930's and 1940's up through the 1960's to the current era. About 300 cars in total but the highlight of the show IMO was this 1967 White 9500TD:

Pictures appear to be broken (they're supposed to link to larger ones), I'll try to get them fixed this week.

I'll also post some more mods/updates.

Great build. Very similar to mine actually. Good to see someone else find their favorite car for a reasonable price. I'm sure that car has never been loved the way it is now.

Have you got any auto parts to sell? Specifically the EC-AT.
Thanks,
Chuck

Ok so I found out my motor had low compression at the VIR event and went on the path to changing the build again. I have been debating on which way to go but I decided that I will go with a slightly larger turbo and try to hit the elusive 500rwhp+ mark. So I sent my spare motor out with John (allrotor93) to have it rebuilt at Steve Osley's place. They got the motor streetported with ALS seals.

So I pulled the current motor out and have started the process to painting the engine bay to match the exterior a little better. In the mean time I'm selling my turbo kit and I am going to have a new one fabricated. The turbo is in great shape but I want to go with a larger frame turbo to make the 500rwhp+ shot a little more feasible.

While the motor was out being rebuilt I went ahead and swapped my interior from tan to black. It was quite a process since a lot of the plastics had broken tabs and scratched paint. I repaired all of the plastics and gave them a fresh coat of plastidip. So far so good!

I'll post some pictures up shortly.

As for the previous thumbnails, they should have been click to enlarge. A quick workaround is to remove the "th_" on the picture if you right click and open in new tab. Maybe a moderator can clean it up.

Cleaning up the engines and putting the oil pan on the new engine before painting it.

Lots of work to clean up the engine bay ahead.
