Engine deassembly/reassembly process, I really didn't take many pictures. I was in the zone, cussing and that good stuff:

I finally got all of the black interior swapped in, although I still have a few small things to finish up. I plan on getting the shift ****/boot/ebrake/boot recovered and possibly a new steering wheel. I also have to recoat some of the plastics and find my ashtray :

I also finished up the diffuser install but I still need to reattach the mud flaps a little better. I sourced some 3m doublestick tape and will likely have to modify them slightly. I also purchased some very good shape 99 spec tails!:

I took the plunge and pulled the trigger on a new turbo setup/manifold. I've been aiming for much higher power than the typical 400-450rwhp rotary since there is a lot of drag racing in practice locally in the Raleigh area. I really do still want to be able to take my car to autox/road racing events but still drag race at the track and this presents a uniquely difficult situation. You want minimal lag but big airflow. I've been back and forth between a few turbos, the S366, the GT4094R, the Precision 6766 and the GTX42R. So I finally decided yesterday after looking at dyno sheets, compressor maps, opinions and other forums that the GTX42R will best suit my goals of 600rwhp+ on Q16 but still retaining decent response/airflow in the twisties.
So far the completed kit is scheduled for September, hopefully before my birthday. I have done a lot of research and contacted several different fabricators but decided Sean@A-spec would be the best for this job. Sean has been the only person who said he could do it no problem and had no problem answering all of my crazy questions. I will continue to support Sean as he's been on our forums for a long time and helped many different people reach their power goals/aspirations.
Now on to the engine, I finally got it all back together and albeit didn't get a chance to check everything I did have everything hooked up and it cranked right up. I still have a few small things to take care of but turns out the engine has an imbalance that vibrates the car pretty violently. I sent John/Steve a text and got a response almost immediately. Steve and I talked about what could be the cause and determined that it must be something in the engine and scheduled a pickup time for the car (yesterday). I can't believe how supportive these two guys have been and they always stand behind their products/goods 100%. This is few and far between these days. I really do appreciate this kind of service and will definitely be seeing the friendly red pickup truck more often.
I'll try to take some more pictures as well throughout the next iteration of this build haha. TNT diff brace coming, dual pumps, dual fuel line feeds, bigger injectors, Q16 and who knows what else. Maybe even E85?

Got a few packages over the past two weeks.
Car is running great again thanks to Eccentric Performance and their diligent efforts but I'll be taking her apart next week when I get the Flex Fuel sensor from GM.
Also C. Ludwig is sending me a revised Ignition harness for the AEM IGN-1A coils. Hopefully that will solve all of the ignition breakup I've had recently.
More updates hopefully coming soon.

A few more updates, sorry for the slow progress, flex fuel sensor was on backorder:
Mocking up the new location for the twin Bosch pumps with filters. Aeromotive is currently in place of the stock fuel filter, this will be removed.
My new toy for the next iteration of this build. It will probably go in the car in a year or two, whenever this motor lets go. #D195

I finally made it out to a dyno this weekend and the car thoroughly impressed me. I did however find that my turbo is limited by it's T3 exhaust housing but that's to be expected. The turbo made a difference of <1 HP between 21 and 24 PSI.
The dyno consisted of a total of five dyno runs. Two of the dyno runs were made in third gear as the choice of the dyno owners, and three in fourth gear. Both of the third gear runs consisted of lower numbers so they attributed it to wheel spin. The three fourth gear runs were within 1HP of each other and all three torque curves were very flat.
Now I can't wait to get a hold of the new turbo setup and see what it will do. Sean said he should have something for us to look at soon.
Overall - extremely happy with the way the car performed. Now I just need to get to the track to see what kind of numbers it puts down.

I'm not entirely sure if dyno sheets are supposed to look this jumpy but the average at least looks good. The other two runs don't show as many dips (specifically no dip at 114mph) so I'll have to get a copy of those runs.

It's been awhile since I've updated this thread but it seems the thread title no longer makes any sense for the build path I'm going down now.
I bought my first home recently so stepping up the quality of the build has been a priority of some sorts. Here's a quick update with the progress so far:
Here is the long ago completed E85 fuel pump setup. I am using twin Bosch 044 fuel pumps with 40 micron SS pre-filters and 6 micron fiberglass post-filters. This is an in progress picture from last year, can't seem to find any completed pictures.
Here is the Turbo II differential with Mazdatrix oversized clutches installed in the FD pumpkin.
The differential installed with the new HPP 2n1 brace.
The A-Spec turbo kit finally arrived two weeks ago, looks great despite the long wait. You can see the parts for the exhaust fabrication starting to pile up in the background.
Here is a sizing shot of the new GTX4294R turbo.
Here is the turbo installed in the engine bay with the new HKS vmount setup. I have also polished/coated/replaced a few additional pieces in the engine bay.
My neighbor and I started fabricating the 4" exhaust this weekend and have about half of it done so far.

- Semi P-port motor, self built and tuned - whether or not that's a good thing is still up for debate.
- Even more fuel than before
- Same turbo setup from 4 years ago
- Pro-Jay Typhoon intake
- Entirely different ECU setup and wiring
- A2W intercooler setup with rear tank
- T56 Magnum transmission swap with associated components (broke 7 factory transmissions)
- DSS axle upgrades
- Fancier tires
- A bit of boost on the street, since it's a street car. The normal setting is typically 32-35psi with the high boost setting between 43-45psi.

Let's start off where I left off. The streetported 13B setup; 4x ID2200's, AEM Smartcoils in direct fire, AEM v1 ECU, GTX42R turbo, HKS v-mount, and a few other supporting goodies.
I ended up selling the D series 20B. After further investigation, 20B's are just too much money to build and modify for big boost. If I was to ever have an issue (fairly likely), the cost to fix it was just out of my budget. I can blow 2-3 built 13B's for the cost of one built 20B.
So after pulling my old turbo setup off, I found a broken Tial wastegate and it explained some of the boost issues I had later on. I must have broken it at VIR. It was harder to find because the valve seat held the broken valve in place.
So I pulled the differential apart to keep from scattering it from the anticipated upgrades coming. (A little out of order but its in here.)
The S4 T2 diff installed with a TnT brace. You can see my temporary fuel pump hanger, which turned permanent for a few years.
I wasn't happy with this piping configuration but it did work fairly well.
Here is how big the full exhaust was next to a can. You can see the 3" on the right for comparison.

Just about wrapped up and ready for a first start. HKS v-mount sure looked amazing.
So the motor started having cooling issues and I pulled the rear plug and found coolant inside. I decided to pull it and rebuild it myself this time. It seems like finding a good builder these days is a lot harder than it should be so I decided it's best to just figure it out.
Rotors looked pretty good on disassembly.
Opening up the exhaust port a little bit.
Reassembly starting soon.
Pulling it out for a wash and a first start.
