full Bridgeport 13b

I have the chance to by a pineapple racing full bridge ported 13b that has 1500 miles on it. The only problem is the rear rotor isn't making compression due to two of the apex seals being chipped up. I would really like to rebuild this engine as a first timer just wanted to know if anyone had any pros or pitfalls. Also was wondering what I should be paying for this engine.

Thanks for the help

Elliot

No i think this is the appropriate section...

Anyways to answer your question... I wouldn't buy a full bridged short block for 300 bucks if it had low compression in any housing F/R. Well maybe I'd buy it for $250....but theres no way of telling whats useable and whats un-useable in the motor. probly chipped apex seals because the port was too aggressive. Did Pineapple do it or did someone buy their template and do it? there's a huge difference. Whose to say the front rotor isn't about to chip either? I'd stay away from it unless your getting it very....VERY cheap.

it was a motor that PA built. Its was a 3mm ceramic apex seal that chipped off in the rear rotor. I know this because there was a chunk that was wedged in the turbine housing, luckily it didn't damage the fins. I thought it might be able to replace the seals and save it for a later build. Should i offer $250?? i dont want to offend the guy he just dumped a lot of money into his 7.

Thanks

well........it's really a bet. Doesn't matter how much he put into the car... the motor failed. Just because he spent a lot of money on something and it failed doesn't mean you should feel bad for him and pay him out for it. A broken motor is a broken motor... But put it this way, is $250 worth half a motor? cause you'd have to suspect the rear housings and it's contents are garbage for the most part.

dammit you make too much sense! Thanks for talking me down... I'll let someone else deal with the headache. I think it was just me being a curious case wanting to tear apart my first engine!

Too many times I See this... You really have to pay exactly what the item is worth in it's present condition.. regardless of how much work is put into it... One person's mistake is not your problem...
