Arrow First FD - decided to go LS

I bought my first FD less than a year ago, it did not come with a motor and transmission so I decided to just swap straight to an LS motor. Here are some pictures of the arrival. It has a 19k interior but I plan to swap it to black, like everyone else. I believe this was owned by a at-least 5 members of this forum, I don't remember who Stu2211 told me they were. I had the Chassis inspected and it was straight and some of the panels have never been removed. NoRotors and the Club were both a huge help in this, thanks guys.

I am so pumped to do a build like this, spraying the por15 doesn't look as good as rolling it, haha, and it looks like it made quite the mess on the filters!

It was a learning process, I copied this build from Lane in NoRotors. He did pretty much the same thing but with more finese. It's alot of work...

I go back and forth between keeping my 13b and then going 20b or ls in the future. In a perfect world I'd have two FDs with one of each. How does emissions work in CA with an LS swap?

Haha! I was about to say "Man! Our build threads are almost identical down to the fact that we started with MG rollers!"

Looks good. Keep up the good work. Maybe you'll have yours on the road before I do

any pictures of how the Hockey Puck worked out? I am seriously thinking about doing this, also, what made you decide on the LS2, I am on the fence on either LS1 or 2, the LS2 is not that much more expensive, but it is alittle more work

I can take a picture of it pressing against the body. But the best way to describe it is that the load is distributed on each side of the puck instead of just the seam weld. I had to do this because the previous owner removed the PPF which caused the Dif to swing. When I tried to jack up the dif the entire car would shift left and right. I ended up using the puck to jack up each side slowly. I decided on the LS2 instead of getting an LS6 or 1 and modifying it, I figured all the upgrades were already there and it wasn't much more expensive. Mind you if you do decide to get an LS2 save yourself the trouble and get one from a GTO, the accessories work in the FD. The vette has to be converted to a Pontiac G8 GT, or Cadillac CTS keeping the water pump and Harmonic balancer. Oh and you don't need to extend the engine harness on the LS2 since the ECU fits in the passenger side kick panel. the LS1 is too big and has to be mounted elsewhere. People usually mount it on the rear bin and extend the harness. Hope this helps.

Here you go: The middle compresses as you jack up and the 2 sides eventually help support.

I like that, interesting about the ECU, I am planning on ripping apart the wiring harness and relocation alot of stuff. good info though. I am leaning towards a LS2 more and more, and torque is a good thing, haha

what motor mounts are you going to use? the ones that samberg suggests, or a modified hockey puck?
