LA FD Track Car

I picked up another fd this week, it's been sitting awhile so I plan on pulling the engine and putting something else in there, maybe a 2jz. I'll strip the interior out and use the car as a track car. I tried auto cross for the first time and loved it and that's the plan for this car.

I think it's a perfect car to tear down and rebuild, in my eyes anyways..

I think your neighbors are expecting a flood.

Car does look like a good base for a track car.

I pulled the nasty tan seats out, put a Megan Racing seat in I had laying around and put in the roll car.. Plasti dipped the front bumper and it looked good, I wanted to plasti dip the whole car today but the wind was kicking, I'll wait on a better day for that.. I went out and bought an engine hoist for when the time is right to pull that 13b out of there and prepare it for a 2jz..

I want to take the carpet out and dye it or replace it with a black one, I replaced the tan carpet in my white car with a black one so I already know how to do it.. Being that its a track car it doesnt need an interior but I want one..

I decided to keep the rotary in this car and pull the engine out of my white fd and turn that one into a 2jz powered rx7, as far this one it will only be a track car..

Well I work this weekend so I won't have much time to work on the cars.. Next week I plan on changing the oil, sparkplugs, fuel filter, and putting in a koyo radiator with fresh coolant, I also want to install the power fc and strip the rest of the interior, I picked up some cables to relocate my battery to the hatch so I'll be busy and have my work planned out already..

If I can I do want to get an engine and transmission pull out of my white fd, its a '94 with 80,000 miles but has low compression in the rear rotor and the transmission has the 5th gear grind and I decided this is the car I'll swap a 2jz in..

I worked almost all day on the car.. The oil is changed, koyo radiator installed, fresh coolant, new belts, relocated battery and changed a lot of bolts and nuts.. I got the car to turn over but it won't start, I'll change the plugs and wires tomorrow, maybe the engine is flooded, I hope I can get it running tomorrow..

hmmm...sounds like there's a problem with your rollbar. you should give it to another red FD owner a few hours away and it'll start right up...maybe

So the car has a little too much weight holding it down from starting.. I'd love to give it away but I have the only two FDs within 1000 miles..

Gonna throw a scoot hood on tomorrow and rip the rest of the interior out..

I changed the plugs today and the car started right up, that made my day..
I was also able to pull the dash out and take out the carpet like I wanted..

I have parts piling up now so funnyscreenname needs to come buy some stuff so I don't run out of room..

I got to get a little work in the track project today. The dash support bar was rusted and needed some sanding, looked pretty good after a coat of paint.. I started deleting the egr and polished a small part of the uim since I had it off, I'll attempt to polish the whole thing.. This car will be purple and black when I'm done with it.. Next thing I want to work on is painting the interior black and making brackets for the cluster and a/c panel to mount on the support bar..

I'm in the process of changing out the vacuum hoses(rats nest) with some hose techniques hose I had for my other fd, it seems like I barely touched this car but it's come a long ways since I first got it..

I took a brake some my track project and pulled my engine and transmission from my white fd, while the engine is out I'll paint the engine bay and get it ready for an ls2..

It was such a beautiful day I went ahead and pressure washed the engine bay of my white fd. It still remained dirty, maybe I need some degreaser to get it cleaned but it doesn't matter, I'll get it painted black. Since this car will get a different engine I took the exhaust off, the downpipe has an o2 sensor for my wideband so it can go into my black fd. As for the Trust catback I'll put it up for sale.

Well its time to put the white one aside until I start shopping for a swap kit and engine. I did some cleaning on the track car and got a start on spraying some black on the red. VHT engine enamel is working good for me, it doesnt need to be perfect, I plan to use this car for autocross.
