If you can't bear to take apart the FD, I'd be happy to buy that 20B off of you and put it in my FC

A 20B in an FC is a much easier process.......it just fits like it's supposed to be in there......

Thumbs up YES!! 20B Mock-up

Started 20B engine placement. Im using Stevie's FD for mock-up. I couldnt bring myself to tear my car down yet and this just makes sense to use his for mock-up since its just sitting there.

Goal is to use the stock subframe and keep the engine back as far as possible while clearing the steering rack and trans tunnel.

Pics of where it sits for now..... still have some things to work out but I'm glad to be making progress.
Once I'm satisfied with engine placement 'I'll start the turbo manifold build.

A little less than 1/2" from the firewall lip.... that'll have to do....I have no interest in cutting on the car.

Almost tucked behind the strut towers..... but it's a big girl and that's about where she'll be.

Still trying out the Xcessive motor mounts with different height poly bushings to get placement dialed in.

Steve

looking good. Are you planning on running a dry sump or a custom pan? There's about a 0% chance the stock pan will clear the steering rack in that position. I have a few pictures in my build thread showing the alignment with the engine in almost that exact location.

i have a custom oil pan i bought from a buddy that had it in his 20B swapped FD w/stock subframe.
Its really low profile and should work.
I also have a Ronin Subframe that ill be sampling to see which setup i prefer for the motor positioning.
Yeah ive seen you pics and pics of many others setups to get ideas on how I want my motor placement.
Appreciate the input.
Hows your swap doing.. up and running again?

well, I'm curious to see where you land!

I hope everything is good with mine now. It's currently still in VT getting pretty much the entire car re-wired. I was planning on going up today to pick it up, but it's looking like it'll be another week or two before it's ready.
