That is "melt your bumper" kind of flames. Ask me how I know.

Glad you had a good time. I look forward to attending again in the future.

I'm currently in Morocco but check out the forums every now and then. The FD is undergoing - slowly - a BMW DCT trans swap and really looking forward to paddle shifting my way thru the Tail.

Thumbs up DCT Time!!

So what do you do when your car is running great with out a hiccup.
Just returned from Deals Gap Rotary Rally 2022 over 1600 miles of beatin on the car and no issues.
Well, If your silly like me you tear it apart to make it better?? That’s surely a matter of opinion but… Here she’s goes!!

I’ve been collecting parts to complete the DCT swap. I’ve always wanted those quick paddle shifts.

First step is out with the stock transmission.
I had the little dude wrenchin with me… nothing better than turning wrenches with my son….. he’s got DCT dreams too!!

Stay tuned 👍

Steve

DCT F80 Rotary swap kit, made by Neal.... Great kit well thought out and his service is top notch!
I had the kit in 4 days once ordered.

Shifter mount

Trans mount

Mechatronic coming out for rewiring

That's one hell of an ambitious project Steve! I'm sure it will be awesome, and your son will love it as he grew up in the 2 pedal generation - as opposed to us old fart 3-pedal guys!

That's impressive - usually custom niche parts like that take MONTHS to show up! Is there a separate ECU for the DCT trans, or does it get managed & integrated with your Haltech?

Careful there buddy those plastic pans crack easily and you won't even see it. Been with BMW for 12 years I've seen way too many cracked pans.

Pete, for my setup the DCT will be controlled by a HTG tuning Gearbox Control Unit.
It'll get the engine data via Haltech CAN.

Thanks for sharing but I'm only using the plastic pan for mockup, once I'm ready for final install I have a SLG billet pan going on

Auto Starter Mod for DCT

DCT Swap Update

Using Neals DCT kit requires an auto starter.

Here's the modification needed.

Break down the starter then mark off the area to be cut.....

Finished with two new bolt holes drilled.
