Yeah. I'd say pictures don't do it justice. Looks amazing in the sun. It's funny, most semi decent cars can be made to look amazing in pictures, but this is the other way around.
@TwinCharged RX7 I saw your newly acquired R1 too. Nice one.
Too bad I don’t know face to a car and name. I would say hi to both of you.
I don’t know if anyone else that show up is on this forum.
Why most people don’t have the hood up? I would like to see more under the hood, as I am still working on mine. Would
like to get more idea and learn more from talking to the owner.
The car made it to 7s day this year! Through a pretty nasty heat wave, in I5 traffic and no AC. I'm not sure what's more surprising, the car surviving or me. Temps stayed nice and steady at 85C on the whole drive, maxing at 91c which really had me nervous but the fans kicked in and all was good. I was staring at the temp just praying nothing went wrong in traffic.
What i really love is how the community all comes together for these events. Turns out there are 5 FD guys just in my area alone. We took the opportunity to convoy back from Seattle and had a lot of heads turning, thumbs up and general "what is that"
I met some really cool people this weekend, and it all went without a hitch. The car seems to be running pretty good, minus a bit of a tuning issue when letting off the throttle, then getting back onto it. I think the transition from fuel cut back into throttle is a little off, so I'm not sure if that's a TPS transition issue, or something else?
Also just got the windows tinted today, 1 day later than i REALLY needed it, but happy to cross that off the list too.
@GtiKyle Saw your car at the 7 day @The Shop Seattle . The paint really gleaming in the sun. I didn't which one is you, don't want to hover too long, hot day.
Great car. Hoping can see under the hood.
Thanks man! I was the one in the orange tanktop, figured that might help people figure out who owns it! haha

Really appreciate it. The amount of compliments and thumbs up I've been getting has really made all the hard work worthwhile.

I'll shoot you a PM, I'm actually interested in something you've got listed on Marketplace. We'll have a chance to meetup I'm sure.
I have an old PF Supercars SMIC if you are interested. Might fit more closely to your duct. I had welded some tabs to it for a different mounting setup that could be easily cut off.
I've been sitting on this suspension for a while and it was finally time to get it on.
I went with Tein Flex-Z coilovers. I think for the price and quality they seem hard to beat.
Unknown dampers with Eibach lowering springs. These things were riding like trash and clunking like crazy. Straight to the bin!
I set the ride height per the instructions, and it came out about the same height as these lowering springs were set to, maybe .1-.2 inches lower. I believe my new height to fender is 25.75, which seems like a good compromise between ground clearance and having a proper stance with tire clearance.
During installation i noted both outer tie-rods had torn boots, and one of the upper A-arm bushings was half missing. Adding to the list of things to replace soon. The car still pulls to the right so an alignment is needed for sure.
A test drive proved the old suspension was the cause of all the suspension noises, and these ride substantially better.
Car show the next day was quite fun, they waved me into the VIP parking right up front with the big boy Japanese legend cars, felt good.
Really great looking car you've got there as well. Love the color, unusual, makes it stand out even more than it already does. I see by your thread all the work you've done to it. Unfortunately my skills as a mechanic are sorely lacking, I admire those who can do what you do.

Thanks man! I would call myself an amateur of anything I attempt. I'm not especially good at any one thing. I guess being well rounded has its perks, but man when I see people with perfect welds, as an example, I feel so humbled.
This past weekend was the PacNW Supra event. I had booked this months in advance, and was hoping to have my MK3 supra ready to the event, but stupidly I decided to do upgrades right before the event and did not get it running in time. I asked for forgiveness/permission to bring the FD instead, and everyone was incredibly welcoming.
Stuck in upgrade limbo, hopefully will be running again!
The event was incredibly fun, there was a track/dyno day, followed by a cruise, and then a show and shine on Sunday.
My car took "Best Finish".
By the end of the weekend my fuel pump was SCREAMING. Not sure what's going on there, this is the second Walbro 255 i've put in. I will pull it and see if the sock is clogged?
The car did amazing on the drive, it was the first time I've really pushed the FD on some back roads and boy did it deliver. I still need to get an alignment, a mount for the fire extinguisher, and a battery mount, but overall i had no complaints about how the car did this weekend.
Well, a little off topic for this build thread, but still Rx7 related content.
I picked up what I consider to be a dream car. The FC has always been "my generation" car. In high school, this was an achievable Japanese sports car that we could afford. Because it was more feasible, I lusted hard for these cars back in the day. The FD was obviously a wall poster car, but the FC felt like a working man's car. As time went on, and I finally had money and space to pick one up, I realized how poor Time was on nearly every FC out there. I felt like I had missed the boat. They have mostly lived hard lives, and the remaining nice examples are few and far in between.
I have spent the last couple of years searching for the right car. They seemed rarer than finding an FD in decent shape, and while I had a few close calls to buying a really nice S5 I never had luck but never stopped looking. I've purchased 2 FCs in the past few years, and neither has really lived up to my standards of condition. One of them is now sold off, and the black turbo2 that I jokingly call my "cope car" is still in the garage awaiting a build direction.
Then this opportunity came up, and I wasn't going to miss it.
36k miles, all original and unmolested series 5 TurboII. This was the car I had been waiting for.

Congrats, that's a sweet S5T2 you found! Perfect trifecta of RX7's in your stable now I would love to pick up a 1st gen, preferably another stock GSL-SE to add to my S5T2 & FD resto-mods to complete mine.
I've had more than one person comment about small car / big guy when I step out of the car. Surprisingly the car isn't cramped, but this pic someone took makes it look like I'm spilling out!
Replaced the fuel pump again. After going through a few tanks of fuel, it seems I had stirred up some of the remaining crud in the tank, which was clogging the pre-pump filter and causing it to scream.
I syphoned out the crud and decided to replace the fuel pump out of caution with a AEM 340LPH E85 compatible pump. Back to quiet operation. Will likely replace the fuel filter one more time.
Maybe pull the FD tank to clean/dump it? It's not that much further than pulling the pump. Is it a 93? Should have a drain plug. Just some ideas, if it keeps giving you trouble.
