MN Broke_A_Baller's 1993 Rx7 20B build.

Hello ALL!

So as I mentioned in my other build thread, I am starting this new build thread for my "newer" FD. As many know, I sold my 93 SSM last year to guy in Wisconsin. Prior to me selling that, I picked up this 93 FD from my buddy, a fellow Rx7Club member, up in Northern Minnesota.

I got the car for a pretty dang good deal. Originally an automatic, but with the 3.9 diff, it was a better match for my 20B and transmission setup.

A little about this car:
Year: 1993
Mileage: ~118k miles on the chassis
Title status: Clean
Color: Montego Blue

What are the goals for this car?
Well honestly my mind changes all the time, but I just want to make sure I get it running by the end of this year.

What are my WHP goals?
Ummm...as of right now hit the 500whp club!

What turbo setup are you planning?
BW 9180 as of right now.

What ECU are you going to run?
Adaptronic 1280

Anywho, I am going to try to update this thread more than my other thread. Well, my other thread is kinda dead because I sold that FD.

On to the build!

Here are some pics when I first got her dropped off at my place:

My little helper:

FD throwback:

So after many minutes of looking it over I started to remove things to prepare it for bodywork.

Once again, my little helper was there to keep me company (too bad my son never wanted to help like his little sister did).

I removed the entire interior:

More pics!

I picked up a 6pt Autopower bolt-in cage. Test fitted it and decided I do not like it. So I sold it.

A previous owner decided it would be cool to dynamat the entire car. I HATE THAT ISHHH!!!!!

Pushed it out to sunlight to take this ugly dark pic lol

Removed more crap:

THE DAMAGED SIDE:

Then towed it to my cousin's place to get the bodywork done. He is shaving the antenna and fixing the scrapes and dents left by the PO.

That was last year....Still waiting for her to come home...Once the roads are not salty she'll be here.

That brings us to well...today. March 19, 2016. My fd is not home yet, but I finally got around to start my 20B build lol

Stopped at my buddy Rob's house. Decided today of all days would be a great day to take apart my renesis engine and 20B.

So I made sure the 20B was down to just its keg

Then started taking things off (18+ please)

SOME RANDOM WEIRD DUDE WAS HELPING ME

Pretty big shaft huh...

Housings were in really good condition! B Code :p

What I learned after taking apart the 20B.
1) My Irons had little to no step wear (SUPER HAPPY ABOUT THAT)
2) My housings had minimal if any flaking (SUPER HAPPY ABOUT THAT)
3) My e-shaft had ~.003 runout
4) Rotors were in awesome shape
5) bearings were in awesome shape
6) I had an amazingly clean 20B!

Next step:
Rotors: I am going to get the price for my 3 rotors to get lightened/balanced/scalloped

Irons: Going to be ported by a buddy of mine (unsure of what part I want. Likely be a large street race or street port)

Housings: Will be sending them to Chip MotorSports to get his custom CNC'd exhaust sleeves installed.

Keg: Once everything is done I will be driving down to Chip's shop and having him pin and align the keg. Going to be beast!

Parts list I currently have already:
Adaptronic 1280 ECU,
Dash Pro 2 Cluster,
EvoR carbon cluster/hood thing,
Tubular diff brace,
Blitz boost gauge,
Apex'i coilovers,
Tein hood struts,
Re Amemiya 18" 3pc rims,
Cusco subframe brace,
nagisa strut brace,
JDM rear seat conversion,
JDM fenders/side markers,
4" custom stainless steel v-band exhaust,
Modified oil pan,
Custom mounts,
FFE Trigger kit (for 20B),
FFE fuel rails,
AEM smart coils,
Innovate LC2 wideband,
ID1000 injectors,
Leash Electronics relay board,
Sleeving material,
Collins 350z to 20B adapter plate kit (1st person in public to own one)!

I have more stuff, but don't remember what else off of the top of my head. Probably too tired lol.

Have a great night. I will update as soon as stuff starts coming in.

I agree. It has been a while since updating and posting any progress.

Here is why:

I have been working on my Track Rx8 while my engine rotors are over at Carlos Lopez.

He is lightening, scalloping, clearancing, and balancing my 3 s4 t2 rotors. I haven't heard when I will have them back. I actually got the s4 t2 rotors from a fellow friend/member and was waiting for verification of quality.

Anywho, as soon as they get back we can get this build underway.

I would normally start wiring my fd at this point, but because my garage is yet to be clean and I am trying to get the 8 back in a rolling state I opted to just keep the fd at my cousins until I have more space. I plan on rolling the 8 to my parking pad on the side of my garage and then have the fd in the garage over the winter.

So close, but yet so far.
