Yep. Stock ports, stock seals, and new bearings. Nothing too fancy. It should be plenty for my goal of 350ish hp

Yeah I think so. I've been thinking about it, I want the car to be well balanced and reliable. I'm not sure what kind of power the tranny and diff can handle long term....I want to say right around 400?

Let's just say I'll be fine with 350-450

I plan on running a supra pump with 725/2000 injectors. That should get me somewhere right in that range.

Small update:
My motor is all finished up. Dealing with The Goat/Addicted Performance has been awesome so far. I can't wait to get this thing going.

I've also come to the conclusion that I'll have to wait until next winter to put on the single turbo. Time is running out fast before summer gets here, and theres no way I can let my car sit in the garage all summer.
In other news, I just picked up a new rotary-works vmount radiator from the classifieds to go with the Agency intercooler I picked up a couple months ago. In total my vmount setup cost me $600...I'm pretty pumped about that! I'm sure I'll have to make some brackets and ducting, but that's no big deal.
You know you've gone too deep when the work table moves into your bedroom.....
straightening fins

To do before summer:
Paint bay
Install oil pan brace
Install engine
Buy adaptronic PnP
Relocate battery to spare tire well
Install vmount set up
Do something about transmission...5th/3rd gear synchros
Get tuned

Sounds do-able right?

Funny about the parts into the bedroom....if you come into my house you'll see parts all over (my office, laundry room, sons room, my room, stairway, living room, downstairs kids play area... Ahhahah).

Also, it should be pretty straight forward to get it done. A weekend of work lol.

Have you already started prepping the bay? I am going to work on my bad this weekend and hopefully after the 20b is in I'll be able to remove it again then repaint my bay.

You're going with a pink bay right?

Yeah everything is out of the bay except the master cylinder. I just need to start masking and then do the painter stuff.

I decided on House of Kolor .. Kandy Kooter Pink, should be pretty nice.

Yes, just the bay. After all, this is the **** build.
Red on the outside...Pink on the inside

I imagine I will have a v8 in the car some day. And it will be nutritious and delicious!

So that's your "To Do List" before summer correct?
Paint bay - easy
Oil pan brace - easy
Install engine - easy
Adaptronic PnP ECU - expensive, but easy
Relocate battery - great idea, and easy
Install V-Mount - interesting idea. You're planning on running stock twins with the v-mount setup? I'm not too FD up-to-date since I've only had 5 FB's and one FC so far, so pardon my confusion at this part. You want to mount up the intercooler and radiator in the car using your own brackets and hoses with the stock twins initially to run for this summer. What if your location needs to change for when you go single - I assume you'd just move the whole setup to the driver's side since the passenger's side would be taken up with a longer manifold and bigger turbo? I guess I've not installed a v-mount before and Nick has pretty much talked me into doing one in my FB build (ok, I decided on it and he's helped that along ). Just curious to know your ambitions is all!
Transmission work - meticulous, but easy enough
Tuning - expensive, and little work for you besides payment and saying your goals to the tuner, Elliot I assume, as he tunes.

Yeah, I'm the same way. Have all my parts for sale in the house in my bedroom (the entire basement currently) with all my shipping supplies so I can send anything off right away after a sale. Eventually I think all rotary (and, dare I say, car) guys in general get that way - where your spare part location takes precedence over many other placements.

Maybe I should have gone LS...because in some ways I think it would have been cheaper. Ah well, the call of the rotary will never leave me. Eventually I'll do a dirty, nasty, naughty piston swap though - I love a good I5 2.2L 20V Audi Turbo UrS engine

Yeah it all seems like it should be pretty easy from here. I definitely feel like a lot has been lifted off my shoulders by simplifying my list.
The most difficult part for me is just being there to do stuff. Just to clarify to everyone reading.. I live in North Dakota, and my car is in my parents garage in Minnesota. I do have a 2 car garage at my apartment, but I just hate the idea of having my parts sent to an apartment building. Another small factor is, this is the first time I've ever done anything like this. I've never owned a car with a turbo and the most mechanical thing I've ever done before this car was replace the timing belt on my subaru (cause timing belt is always broke on subaru lol). So those are the two things working against me right now.
As far as the vmic, I think the only thing I need to change is the hot side piping. The intercooler came with piping for a bw turbo on a turblown manifold, which will be perfect next summer. I don't believe that single set up protrudes past the front of the engine. The vmic already has brackets welded on to it, so I will definitely try to use those first and see if I can make a hot side pipe to work.

Here's to hoping we'll be ripping up the hogsback this summer!

Hey now, I've owned Subarus and it's not the belt that's always bad it is the head gaskets! lol.

That makes sense, and it's really nice that it came with the correct hot side piping already. Should be a pretty sweet setup when you're all set up with it. Are you planning on cutting the hood or buying a different one in order to create that low pressure spot to suck out the hot air from the intercooler?

Yeah, I hope my car is done this summer but I'm highly doubting it right now...

That is a good question. I think there are quite a few vmounts out there with stock hood, but I could be wrong. I haven't put any thought into that at all. Maybe somebody who knows better will chime in..

My first time picking up an HVLP gun, I'm pretty satisfied with the results. Damn this car is teaching me soo much.

Next up: Front subframe refurbishing

Engine is on the way!

Wow! Looks great! You're motivating me to paint my own parts. I spray all my own cabinets for work, I don't know why I'm so nervous to paint my fenders. Thanks.

Thanks. If you finish cabinets already it will be a piece of cake for you. As far as I understand, if you use good products that are designed to work with each other and read/follow directions to the T, you will be fine.
I do residential interior woodworking and work with cabinets too. It's pretty much exactly the same. Even though I'm the guy who puts the stuff together and my boss is the guy who paints everything, I've helped out with the paint/stain prep work and watched him spray many times so that helped me a lot I think. Since you have sprayed before, you're already light years ahead of me.

Because if you don't do a good job on painting it'll look tacky .

Nice work Daryl!

Glad things worked out for you!

Paint job of the engine bay looks great! I am going to tackle that project when I paint the entire car next year. I am impressed with the quality of paint jobs on this forum in a garage.
