93 VR parking lot find....

I spent an lil time on the car this weekend, between moving and work progress is slower then I would like. Bead blasted all the brake lines and abs unit then cleansed them up. Painted them high heat black. Then I re-assembled the remainder of the engine bay.
Just about ready to put my drive train back in after I decide on a clutch. I'm leaning towards a exedy hyper single or twin. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I can wrap up a few odds and ends.
Side not - this is the most together I've seen this car considering how I bought it. Here's a shot of because whats a build thread without pictures.

Great job. I agree with the others who say that bringing these cars back to life puts a smile on my face.
What's impressive to me too, having parted out a car, is that restoration guys like you that even remove all of the clips and brackets figure out where they go when you put the car back together. If one works on the same kind of car over and over everything becomes familiar. If it is your first time, you quickly realize just how many small parts there are.

for clutches, you should look at the act extreme hd clutch. my car is around 400ftlb to the wheels and no slipping and still feels like a stock clutch.
thanks for the info, Ill look into that. I have heard good thing about them all over the forum.
great looking build!

Its been nice couple of days here in Md so i got out and spent some time in the garage. I painted my trans and short block to keep with my theme of red, black and polished. I received the ac clips that i have been looking for (who know how long ive needed them) from idiazs. Sent me them for free all i had to do was pay shipping thanks again bud .
Decided to delete the ast so i pulled out the nipple and taped it for a plug. For the radiator instead of putting a short piece of hose and a bolt to plug it i decided to heliarc the tip closed. I feel this is a better, cleaner, safer solution.
My plan is to build a safe and reliable car that i feel conformable driving to the meet and on a trip with out issues.... yeah now as i type this i'm going to have to say it. Fingers crossed
When i was redoing the various parts on the engine my friend made a suggestion about cleaning the alum parts. I really liked how it turned out so i will share with you guys. Clean the part with a degreaser as best as possible. Then bead blast the part to give it a uniform surface. Wearing nitrate gloves shoot the part with some compressed air to get rid of all the blasting dust followed by break clean, this cleans the remaining dust followed by air again.. the trick is to get it clean without finger prints or dirt on it again. (a uniform surface is very important because you will see any imperfections after) now hang that part up just like you would paint it because that is what your actually going to do... They sell 2000 degree high temp "clear" at any auto parts store or online. Give the part a few coats of the high temp clear. This gives the part a brand new look that will LAST ! I have seen this combo hold up on a alternator for the better part of 5 years (still counting on a street rod that sees a lot drive time) and looks the exact same as the day it was finished. It may not be for everyone but i definitely like the longevity aspect of it as well as the end result.
I picked up a Aspec 35/74 single turbo setup from a forum member, should be here next week sometime. Been reading alot of great thing about this setup and i think it will work very well for my needs. I also made a trip to the dealer last week to pick up a load of parts from all the cooling system hoses and oem clamps to the updated clutch fork to the throttle body oring along with countless other tid bits . It always amazes me how the little parts add up sooo quickly. The only thing quicker then that is the rate the money is flying out of my wallet lately haha.
I am looking for a good used exedy hyper twin. I would like the sprung version for street use. If you know anyone with one or you yourself shoot me pm
Also looking for an excessive Lim. i would like the 4 port to run in a single rail for a cleaner look but i am interested in either one.
I'm sure there is things i am forgetting but at the moment i can't think of anything else. The rains here so ill head back out the garage so i can wrench a little more.

Its been a busy week. I had some time to finish up a few things. Got to work on my power steering pump and supporting bracket. Soaked my reservoir in super clean, painted the pump high temp black, bead blasted the bracket and cleared that. It looks a hell of a lot better then the ratty thing i started with.
The turbo setup i picked up for another forum member arrived this week as well. I test fit it and everything looks to be in order. The coating looks "ok" on it but you can rub it off on some areas with a rag. It would be fine to install as is but i am a lil picky so I called IRP for a quote on getting the exhaust housing, manifold and down pipe re-coated in satin black 3500 degree.
I started polishing the compressor housing to match my Uim and remembered why i dislike polishing so much haha.
With all the reading about the updated clutch fork and people having trouble with breaking it.... i went ahead and grabbed one along with a new slave, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, and that pain in the *** locking clip. Don't notice any difference in the forks but why not just for safe keeping.
The last shot is just of the garage and work bench... well there is a work bench under there somewhere.

I may have a few ideas floating around but we will just have to wait and see.
Thanks man. Patience... Haha maybe, perfectionist definitely. Like everyone else I do get that bug to have it finished Especially now it's spring and the weather is nice. That's the plan, to have a fun, reliable street car that I can enjoy.
