'92 Jap black FD (RHD)

I wanted one of these for years, and finally decided to ignore internet horror stories and buy one last year. It came with a fresh rebuild, low mileage and a ridiculously-sized spoiler.

Another shot to show how huge it was. (It's an R-Magic Type-II if anybody wants to buy it, it's been sat in my garage for about a year collecting dust):

It also came with an intermittent idle problem and was generally running rough.

The biggest problem with these cars is that it's difficult to read up on issues online because everything apparently points to a rebuild. So, I took the car to WGT who diagnosed the problem as an electrical wire coming from the ECU which was causing issues with the sensors.

Then, I needed to get that spoiler off. Despite what appeared to be the worlds supply of sealant I managed to prize it off. I also took the rear lights apart and masked them up and sprayed them to emulate 99-spec rears:

Realising I probably wouldn't be able to afford the wheels I wanted just yet, I refurbed the OEM Enkeis in a BMW Graphite using aerosols:

I also removed the front plate until I found somewhere better to put it:

My "ultra reliable" MK1 MR2 then broke (again) so I ended up using the FD as a daily driver. I've managed to amass a few parts since which still need fitting:

I also tinted the front repeaters:

And a quick shot of the interior:

Recently, the clutch master cylinder died on me. I needed the car, so replaced this along with the brake master in the night and took it for a late-night test drive:

Took the car back to the spot where I took my first photos of her:

Probably the last photo of the car I'll be taking for a while. I've wanted to get this spoiler fitted for the best part of 10 months, but for one reason or another I've never been able to spare the car. I was hoping to get these bits fitted over the next couple of weeks, but with the MR2 still not back on the road I once again need to rely on the FD. So I offered the bits up to the car just as a glimpse as to what the back-end will look like...

Last night, the thermostat appears to have died on me. It happened a while ago, but managed to free itself up and has worked fine ever since. So last night I figured I'd hit it with a hammer and see if that might persuade it to work. It didn't. But it did slip and hit the coolant hose coming off the thermostat, which split it and pissed out steam for a good ten minutes. So now I have no cars that work, awesome.

Thanks mate. I couldn't wait to get rid of the stock wheels when I first bought the car, but having sprayed them (and kept an eye on the increasingly-ridiculous used-wheels market) I'm not so bothered now. I'd like a set of Do-Luck double-sixes in manly sizes but haven't seen a set for sale in years.

Haven't logged on here in ages for one reason or another. Figured I might as well update this as I'm sat bored at work!

So, what's happened in the last three years. Well, this:

Which I thought was a cooling issue as it spat a huge chunk of radiator out when I was driving. Turned out it was this:

So while I was having a new (ported) engine put in, I also did a bit of this:

So now she looks like this:

As you might have guessed, it spends most of its time now in front of the camera!

With my Apexi PFC dead, I'm now looking at alternative ECU options. I wanted a Haltech but didn't have any joy finding one that would work with twins. Any advice on Links?
