I'm running the Tilton twin on my RX8 race car. Don't remember if it is the 5" or 7" but definitely not streetable.

Hope you can make that road trip! Bucket list of a trip!

If one wants to try Hawks, try the more modern DTC family of pads. I used the DTC 60s on the front of my Spec Miata. The bite is similar to the XP12s. I don't remember what noise levels were like with the DTC60s on the street....

I have been saying since at least 2007... "I want to finish building my car and i want to a big euro trip with many tracks involved" then my car burned down, and I started over. With the exception of the clutch because it is unknown territory to me i think the car is perfectly capable to pull this off. Obviously, I am not going for any sort of "lap record" pushing the car to the maximum type of deal as I also need to bring it back home safely and in one piece. So, the plan is to be conservative within reason.

With the little I have seen from these clutches, what you posted appears to be the 7.25" clutch...

X-clutch offers the same system with the sprung hub. I need to call and see if they offer it for the nissan input shaft and whether they would sell it to me without the flywheel

Has anyone considered the new line of ACT twin disk clutches? I loved my old ACT street/strip I ran for years with an SR 9.5lb flywheel, but it was deemed borderline for the single turbo and I've missed it ever since. I'm pretty sure ACT could give you one for the Nissan input shaft.

X-clutch offers a 7.25" clutch that is sprung. pretty pricey from what i am seeing.

I thought, this is a complete kit for another car. let me see if i can call them and see if they offer this without the flywheel..
After multiple calls to X-clutch Usa with no response I thought that this is a dead-end

I called Clutch Masters instead and after a long discussion with the representative I determined that no matter what i will get in the 7.25" size, it wont be street/traffic friendly. so its a drag clutch size, on/off style . it just wont work.
The representative told me that if i go for a 8.5" clutch instead there are many options available to make it nice, as opposed to just livable.

I reached out to Fisch to see if they could provide me with the 8.5" flywheel. Immediate response. they gave me all the information and i am ready to replace my 7.25" flywheel to a 8.5" multi clutch flywheel...
Fisch has never let me down. The customer service is just PHENOMENAL.

So the ACT twin @Howard Coleman CPR (thank you Howard) recommended may become a reality, or another system either from Clutch Masters or even a different company.

So in the process of prepping the car for the transmission swap. I needed to source a final gear that is significantly taller than the 4.77 i currently have. Its funny how a few years back the 4.77 was the hottest ring and pinion and i had a hard time finding one because Mazda had discontinued it. A few years prior to that, the 4.3 was the one to get ... now the one to get is the 3.9 if you are doing the CD009 or similar swap....

The 3.63 final gear from Neat gearboxes is a great option but due to the high price (due to the small production), shipping, tariffs. it makes the price unrealistically high

I figured I needed to compromise with a much more accessible and obtainable option, the 3.9:1 from the automatic.... Accessible and obtainable, or so i thought !

over the years i was browsing the Japanese auctions, the forums, eBaY and others I would often see a 3.9:1 final gear for sale.. I remember in the auctions in particular i would see them sell for less than 10,000 yen, which is a current rate of approximately $65. By the time a forwarding agent gets it, with fees, commissions, shipping fees within Japan, and then international shipping the price normally triples . so a couple of hundred bucks for a 3.9 final gear is pretty good....
I pointed one that was for sale on the Japanese auctions a few months ago to a fellow forum member who needed one for his swap, and I figured, when its time for me to do the swap , i will get one the same way .... Well the time came and went and the 3.9:1 final gears are nowhere to be found anymore.

so in my search to locate one Mr @SETaylor comes to the rescue and provides me with a super clean rear diff as he switched to a Ford 8.8 in his insane 3rotor build! ... Thankfully Simon lives about an hour and a half away. I stopped by and picked up the rear diff...

I took it all apart, cleaned it up and it will be ready to go on.... A new set of bearings and seals shipped from Mr. Ray Crowe the next day and I am very happy with the outcome...

New Titanium Lug nuts and Titanium hardware for the intake manifold

I had used the Recaro Japan seat rails for my Pole position ABE. I had made side mounts to for the ABE's to fit in. I liked the ABE's but in my eyes nothing beats the Recaro TSG (or RSG) for the interior of the FD. I had lost some weight and i was able to fit back in the TSG seats so I ended up reinstalling those but those Recaro Rails are so much better than my Nagisa ones ... So I will be installing the Recaro Side mounts on the TS-G.

A problem with these is that these seat rails were only made for the RHD driver.. I believe the seat rail will fit both the driver and the passenger but the seat belt receptable is only available for the driver side. it is a very simple bracket. I should be able to mirror it and replicate it easily as it is a very simple bracket.

about a year and a half ago i started gathering all the items for the CD009 Swap but i have not been back to Cyprus in about 2 years.
I dont foresee going back anytime soon. I am pretty much fresh out of major surgery so the recovery is long.

I have asked a few friends to help me with the swap. I would rather if they start it and if there is something missing at least i will know so i can go back and bring it with me

The first pic, my friend used a fat sharpie so he wanted to use something thinner but that Lancia Integrale Evo 2 in the background made me post this pic... i have been in love with that car for many years.

I had asked a few people to do the cut, every single person said NO initially, including the guy who ended up cutting it. It seems daunting at first but i dont think its that difficult since you are not cutting a sealing surface. His words at the end were "EASY PEASY"... So that felt pretty good and the result shows that. I am keeping this post short as theres a few more things coming but i am not doing any of the work

Thank you sir, greatly appreciated!!! Recovery is going great, all things considered.

@Billj747 I love how detailed you document your build on your website.
I was browsing your blog looking for more information slave cylinder and how to adjust the gap and i realized that i was going to have an issue with a different thing

i waited until the very end to buy the master clutch cylinder because I wasnt sure what clutch to go with.

I ended up going with the ST215 that requires a 13/16 clutch master.
I bought the Grannas kit, RHD reservoir etc but I didnt realize that a cap for Brake Master cylinder is not provided with the kit. I highly doubt I can find something locally that can withstand the brake fluid to cap it
your solution is excellent. It would have sucked if I were to find out at the last minute that i am missing that and make a huge mess in the process..

Fisch now offers a similar kit using the wilwood clutch master cylinder. Strangely enough, the Tilton 75series is not to be used in an ABS system according to the Tilton website. I am not sure whether the wilwood one is the same situation.
with that piece missing, the kit is really incomplete. I think they should provide it as a complete kit with everything bolt-on .

So i ended up ordering these parts (plus a spare of each) to complete this kit. Pegasus didnt have the Brake/clutch fluid line in 5/16" in stock i ended up getting it from Tilton .
We should be ready to install in the next few days.

I'm now wondering if I could move to that clutch cylinder with my ABS there!

Some updates..

After 2 years of not going back to Cyprus, I had to go back due to a family emergency. it was a short stay and it wasn't planned at all.
So I grabbed whatever I was collecting at home the last couple of years, and went to the airport.

I was determined that I needed to get my car out of the shop that it was "stored"
Back in 2024 as i was leaving Cyprus, I had asked the guy to rebuild my transmission. When the transmission was done I told him i could have sent someone there to pick up the car to take it to my house. He asked me to leave the car there, i suppose he wanted to show the car, potential new clients but I was fine with it because the car would have been stored indoors. About a year later i had asked him to pull the transmission out as the rebuilt transmission was sold to a friend of mine. for the last few months the car was there without a transmission and i was collecting the parts to send over so we could finish the swap and get the car out of there

So i went there i came across this, and it made my blood boil on the one hand and it saddened me on the other.

I had never seen my car in this condition. I wanted to get my car out of there and bring it home. I was there for a week so it had to completed. I had the surgery so i wasnt able to do much but i had to push and get it done.

What do i think of the Fisch kit so far. While there are some small things missing from the kit (some hardware) it is a beautifully constructed kit but the fit is extremely tight. we had to drop the subframe for it to line up.

I very much appreciated the laser engraving with the torque specs.

I ended up going with the Dual Clutch flywheel and the Tilton St215 clutch.

The bottle opener/clutch alignment tool came in very handy even though i didnt open a bottle at the end..

We mounted the StrikeFast Shifter. that thing is great and most importantly you do not need to cut the floor like the serialNine shifter.
Adjusting it is a little tricky when it's out of the car but it's almost there .

I figured it was easier to mount the bell housing on to get the clutch clearance. but that's another thing that should have been included. some shims. I don't think we did this right

The transmission is in!

More updates coming !

So the Transmission is in.
Transmission brace is on.

And the gorgeous driveshaft is in!

I am pretty annoyed that i let my car age like that. it used to be spotless but since it is lives at the track the condition has been getting worse every time every year
I decided to use a different shop from this point on. It feels like my car ended up being a burden at the previous shop and the quality of the work has decreased significantly over the years... I would trust that shop with certain stuff and I would have to redo them because they were half assed.
At the same time there are things that I did as a temporary solution that ended up being permanent. I want to strip the car completely and refresh everything.
After a thorough cleaning my FD now resides at a new shop. I need to clean up the **** I didn't like from before. No more temporary solutions that will live on the car for more than a few days..
A new journey begins

I am glad to hear you got the car swapped and moved to a more suitable location. Were you able to drive the car with the new transmission installed? I am curious to get your impressions once you have some time with it.

I wasnt able to drive it, I cant even get in the car at this point due to a major surgery i went through but i also dont fit in the seats anymore.

a good friend of mine drove it. the engagement is smooth but the pedal is stiff. I should say that i am not happy with the HRB clutch gap so that might change things
