2001 rx7 in cyprus

I havent really kept track of my builds so far but I thought that this is a good time to share my project.
The car first came to cyprus in 2005 as a veilside show car. It was featured in tokyo auto salon and the first owner was a friend of mine.. very clean car, no accident history (rare for rx7s exported from japan) The car was impounded for a couple of years for being heavily modified according to the local police The owner was able to get it back after a lot of struggle and won the case against the police. He got sick of all this story and thought to part out the car (engine and what not) and sold it to another friend of mine. He put a stock motor in stock twins and had this car as a daily driver. He wasn't doing all that well with the finances and thought to put it up for sale. The stock engine he put there had unknown mileage and it developed a bad coolant seal. He pulled the motor out and the coolant seal slot was damaged. With all the finance problems he decided to let the car go at a fairly low price without a motor I thought I could buy the car fix it up and sell it for a profit but shortly after my 2002 was on fire (steering column rubber dust cover) and the car was destroyed So I ended up with this car in my possesion. Clean car. So I thought that it was a good start.to make it a great everyday car and a track monster. |

After buying a brand new engine (as the initial goal was just to fix it up) and a greddy SS single turbo manifold with a BNR P-trim 60-1 turbo. I found locally the Rmagic "cheap" version Vmount they offered (old skool) which uses the OEM Intercooler from a mitsubishi evo 6. I thought, since i was only fixing up the car it was pointless to get a better intercooler
after the whole thing with the fire on the other car i didnt want to compromise with that intercooler. I ended up going with the HKS vmount kit which was a pain in the ass to mount. It uses the stock radiator and fans and any thicker radiator will make this a big nightmare. The stock fans are also pretty high and the fans were almost hitting the floor.. the fans were much lower than the OEM 99spec bumper (with the lip included AS i mentioned, the thicker radiators wouldnt work i ended up going with the fluidyne radiator and spal low profile fans. the hks vmount was poorly engineered and poorly fabricated. While the actual intercooler is fantastic, the rest i was disappointed. That manifold is made for the t78-t88 turbos that they have longer cartridge. while this turbo is significantly smaller than the t78 (in size at least) the turbo wouldnt clear the waterpump housing and the LIM. A flange was cut (waterjet) 20mm so the turbo would clear well and try to keep the intake temps down. It may a little hard to see the flange. if you pay close attention to the exhaust port and manifold you can see it harness was then converted to a single turbo harness and removed all the unnecessary crap. It was then further simplified as i wanted to remove more stuff (OMP plug and others) |

the picture with the umbrella shows how low the fans are and thats with the stock radiator. I tried installing a JAPSPEED junk radiator (brand new, leaking, wouldnt fit) so i scrapped that after a few hours went back to stock (before i switched to the fluidyne
charge pipes where then modified to work with that turbo setup |

the turbo was then switched to the BNR version of GT35 with the billet compressor wheel
2x34 row Setrab oil coolers with Mocal thermostat and now the good stuff Suspension that was on the car was HKS Hipermax Drag.. Didnt really enjoy it so i switched for an almost brand new set of OHLINS PCV dual spring Sakebomb AP racing BBK FEED front and rear sway bars Supernow sway bar mounts and the car at the current state |
great base for a build

The list of parts that will go on the car is pretty big the car is currently at the body shop getting a feed wide body with the quarter panels molded in up to the trunk lid. Pictures below of the car that was burned down. quarter panels should be the same fit I got my hands on a pair of Recaro TS-G ASM AUTOBACS limited editions seats (carol Imstillonjava's seats) ce28N 18x9.5 +22 and 18x10.5 +18 DEFI ZD monitor (love every second of owing this monitor) Rmagic Genuine headlights 725/2000 Ev14 injectors with FFE rails (IRP FUEL KIT) Knightsports Carbon strut/engine cover FEED combo lights with covers Shineauto FEED body kit (bumper, fenders, 1/4 panels, sides) Custom made hood (wont show that until its done) I was debating between the two diffusers so i ended up buying both Sanai works diffuser VS re-amemiya track diffuser (i got sick of the street version, didnt like the car from certain angles) JUN auto front diffuser AUTOEXE under braces Do luck floor braces (inside and outside) Cusco safety 21 Full chromoly roll cage HPP differential brace HPP fuel anti surge tank HKS twin power and Power fc are given AEM water/meth injection HKS evc-s boost controll kit and turbotimer (gotta make them match ) |

Nice car and work, subscribed

damn this thread is so full of WIN.
I've been keeping my eye out for that cusco cage at a descent price here in the states. loving the craftsquare mirrors mounted at the triangle as well. can't wait to see the rest of this. |
Thanks for the nice words guys
Its difficult to post updates while im stuck in the states and the car is over there but I will keep updating it when I have something new... I am anxious to see how the hood is gonna turn out. Should be really unique first of all, cool and functional The cusco roll cage is unbelievably light and it was a pain in the arse to find one.. nevermind shipping it over. Luckily friends hooked me up and it was a decent price with shipping next to nothing The defi zd monitor is mounted at the center speaker grill .. came out much better than I thought but I want to make an enclosure, gauge pod style to hide it there Ngk afx wideband is mounted and hidden in the din pocket.. visible only to the driver but it has a foldable mount and sticks outfor the tuners easy viewing Addition of a new part C's short shifter... I have used a variety of short shifters including the ikeya formula sequential shifter The happiest I have been with was with the re amemiya short shifter. Everyone claims that c's is one of the best so I thought to give it a try before I get my hands on a dogbox or something more racing oriented than oem And never forget to always have a fire extinguisher in the car. Sakebomb makes a very nice mount for easy access under the passengers seat. After losing everything within a few minutes I never ride again without a fire extinguisher. I had so much money in that car, the rarest and custom parts u only imagine and all became ashes. Learn from my mistake and spend some money on this. ... u better not have use to it than lose everything |
NICE!!! Can't wait to see it all done up!!

Maybe in dgrr 2014? Im seriously thinking to bring it over

Damn your car is looking sweet. That bumper and those headlights are one sexy combo.

Mr. Pops, the car came out awesome man! You make it seem effortless ;)
You should be commended on how you immediately bounced back from the tragedy with your red FD. I speak from personal experience when I say it isn't easy seeing your dreams crushed in a split second. https://www.rx7club.com/attachments/...rus-file-3-jpg |
Well the more you think about a tragedy the harder it gets. It was like getting back on the horse immediately after abig fall.
It may seem eeffortless but so many things went wrong in the process of putting this together. Problems here andthere on a daily basis.. it was rather a disappointment .. so many brand new things failed, including the engine that makes me wonder wtf is going on |
Lookin good Poopadupalus!!! Bomba!

Hahaha ryan.. picking up the cypriot greek
