A Warning - John Olivera - Sommerville - Pino
I am posting this to make the First-Gen communinity aware of a thief. The final straw was when I recieved an email from John Pino asking to visit his new RX-7 Parts website - Rotary Web:
http://www.krazyhost.com/to/nopistons/zoot/index.html
(Although the link doesn't seem to work now.)
I am assuming he took my (and others) email addresses from www.thepartstrader.com. I am posting this as a warning and including my assumptions as I am hoping that no one else will have their money stolen and I am looking to make contact with anyone else that has been defrauded, for potential legal recourse.
Last August I made attempted to make a purchase for first-gen RX-7 parts on www.thepartstrader.com from:
Paypal email- roadradio@primus.ca
Paypal last name- Somerville
John Somerville
48 symol st
Etobicoke,Ont
Canada
M9C-3P8
Phone # (416) 890-9755
This 'purchase' extended over several months as he sent me innumerable plausible excuses as to why he did not send the parts, although he had accepted my PayPal payment. The last communication I received was a request for me to send more money. Since then, nothing has been sent and he has ignored my emails and calls. (Word to the wise: PayPal will not get your money back even though they rule the seller completely at fault). If anyone is interested, I can post the entire history of communications between John 'Sommerville' and myself.
On one of the emails that John sent me he signed it John 'Oliviera' not
'Somerville' (which I noted as odd at the time). A few weeks ago I receive the email from John 'Pino' asking that we go check out his website. On the bottom of the main page was:
Site designed and operated by JOHN OLIVEIRA
The email link wass to rotarybhp@primus.ca.
I have no proof that John Pino is involved in defrauding people, however
there seem to be too many coincidences with the thief I dealt with:
John 'Somerville', 'Oliveira', 'Pino'
Selling first gen RX-7 parts on www.thepartstrader.com
John Somerville's email was roadradio@primus.ca.
John Pino/Oliveira's email is rotarybhp@primus.ca.
Make your own decisions, I however would not send this person any money until I had the parts in my hands. I lost over $300.00 and I hope to keep this from happening to anyone else. If you have lost money to this person, please let me know the details, as the police have told me it is easier to take legal action if it has happened to more than one person.
I hope this helps!

yeah, he sent that e-mail to everyone that has e-mailed him in the past. I've never been to his place (used to live close) or know anyone who has dealt with him, but I did notice the 3 name changes though..
Thx for the heads up..

Thanks folks. I've had a few replies with people who had issues with 'John'. I was really surprised that he decided to rip me off. If only I lived a bit closer... I'd love to have a discussion with him.

New Information
Here is an update. After many months of no contact, I recieve a call last Saturday (April 20) from John. He was extremely apologetic and basically stated that he wants to resolve this issue. He promised to sent the roof and the balance of money immediately. As I told him, I will believe it when I see it. However, John had absolutely no reason to call me, other than to resolve this. I'm not sure what to expect. I will post as new developments arise. Just thought I would give the parts buying public an update.

Just to throw another experience in the mix, I read this thread about a week after sending money to John (Oliviera in my case). We e-mailed back and forth numerous times, and he said several times he was very busy and would ship the parts when he could. I directed him to this thread and asked him to ship them as soon as he could. I just got my parts in the mail today, and they look good. It's been maybe a month (total, with all the back and forth and delays for mail and such) since we began the transaction. FWIW!

After a couple weeks of no contact, he emailed me again to let me know that the moonroof may not be what I was expecting. I explained that I am moving to another town soon, so I asked him to return all of the money and send no parts. I've heard nothing since then. I hope this works out.
Good for you for getting your parts! I'm wondering why this keeps dragging on for me.
The saga continues...

cuz you're a canuck!! Shipping to Canada is torture...as an ex-UPS driver, I know all the paperwork that has to be filled out and correct or the stuff gets stopped at the brokerage at the border or, worse, sent back to the shipper in slightly less-than-ideal condition after the UPS machine has had a chance to grind it a little...that, and that guy probably is a bum...

His name is John Olivera. He auctions stuff on e-bayalot and the parts trader. He has a very bad feedback rating on ebay. He placed a bid on a glovebox I was selling back on 3-8-02. I emailed him with the shipping info. and he stopped returning my emails until I threatened him with a non paying biddder complaint. Then he wrote the same thing to me about being busy and he would get the money order out to me as soon as possible. I just received a money order recently and he only sent it for the amount of shipping not the amount of purchase plus shipping. Everything about this transaction with him was bad. He apologised several times for his incompatence and after all was done he actually asked me to leave him feedback on ebay. I explained to him that he was the worst person I have ever delt with and if I leave him feedback it will be negative so I would just rather leave it alone. I knew if I left him a negative feedback he would retaliate with a negitive feedback for me and I don't want that. That is a bad problem with ebay, people leaving negative feedback in retaliation. He buys things and then sells them on his new site. He is just as bad a buyer as he is a seller. good luck, Vic

Why won't it end?
And the saga continues. John called me a couple of days ago, wanting to verify if my PayPal account is still active. Regardless that he promised to send the money weeks ago. Now he wants to reinstate his PayPal account and to do so he wishes to send PayPal a money order for the money he has taken from myself and two others (by his admission). He is not sure if this will mean that we will recieve our money from PayPal or not.
His entire attitude appears that I should feel sorry for him (as he explains his difficulties in dealing with PayPal, his money problems etc) and that I just need to wait and do him a favor by contacting PayPal and verifying my account. Does this seem unreasonable to anyone else? Firstly I can't imagine stealing someone's money and pretending for months that I was going to honor a deal. More unlikely is that I would have a sudden epiphone months later and finally realize the error of my ways and that all I want is to make it all right again. Lastly how could I then drag out the return of the money for many weeks and wonder why the victim seems to be a tad miffed when I ask him for one last favor? Obviously by contacting the victim and apologizing, I have proven my righteousness and honesty. There sure is a nice spot reserved for me in heaven now.
Arg.
This is so rediculous. I apologize to all reading this vent. As I have told John many times, I will be happy to let the whole world know when he has resolved this situation. It just seems that he is unlikely to do so, atleast until he has made me feel just a bit more powerless.
I hope you all have better luck when buying parts for your hobby.
On the other hand, the car is working great! Now I just need to find an honest person who would like to sell a glass moonroof!

Well it has been a year since he took my money. I've had a few more empty promises from John, but oddly enough, not one cent returned. I hope you all never have to deal with this guy!

Damn......Thats odd..... I've bought a few things from him awhile back and never had any problems. The only thing......one time it took like a month to get one part but he hooked me up with free window switches for the late delivery. Not sure whats going on now though. I hope its just a missunderstanding, it sucks when this kind of crap happens.

Just listening to T-rav, I can develop a profile of this John Olivera person.
Basically this: By sending many, many messages, John is pretend trying to do his best, is a techique he uses to thwart off people from looking for him to beat him up.
If I'm correct, he uses this techique to get people to send him money for parts that he doesn't nessessarily
have perhaps, and the run-around email is a method to get people in a state-of-mind that they will not persue him for the parts as time slowly reduces a persons desire to take action to get the parts which are too cheap to merit going after him.
This is just my "guess" profile of that guy.

I think your profile is pretty much right. I've given up that I will ever see anything. People should just know about this guy before they do business with him!
