RX7Store: worried and confused

So I tried to make an order from RX7store.net for a radiator last week. The next morning I got an email saying it would ship out soon. Then right after that, I get another email that says the card got declined. Well that was ok because the first time was actually my fault. I was 1 dollar short for the order. Anyways, later that night, I put more money on the debit card. With shipping the item was $ 345 and 349 was on the card at this point. I sent him an email saying that everything should be ok now. Then a whole 3 days later I finally get a response that was pretty much the same as the last one that told me the card got declined. Anyways heres the kicker. I called the card company to see if everything was fine, and out of nowhere the amount of money that was on the card was 326 dollars.

This is not out of anger or anything and I'm not jumping to conclusions. But I think I have a right to know what's going on or what the problem could be.

Sounds like the bank dunned you for a overage charge - and didn't allow the overage.

Why do you put just enough money on the card? Give yourself some "what if" room on the card.

Well I'll be putting more money on the card later this week and trying again. but the $349 was sitting on the card for a while. If it didnt take 3 days to get a response then maybe the card wouldnt have got declined. I realize it's a busy time of year, but I have a holiday agenda too. But I apologize if it seems like I was pointing fingers if it was actually the bank getting involved.

I was gonna try calling them tommorow to see what was up. I did however send out alot of emails. I dont know if the whole bank thing is a possiblity since the debit card is pre paid and isnt from a bank, but either way I'll probably be putting more on the card and starting over with the order or something like that.

Dude...overdraft fees. Call your bank. Do you not keep a ledger? Do you not write down where your money is going? Do you not check your bank statements? I know my bank charges $32 each time there is an overdraft. That means if you come up $1 short and they have to cover it, they charge you $32 for that. Be more aware of where your money is going, and honestly - if you can't keep at least $500 in your account at all times, wtf are you doing owning an Rx7 and buying parts for it? This has nothing to do with the Rx7store and everything to do with your mismanagement of funds.

Well, it appears that he was using a pre-paid debit card (not one linked to his bank account). He didn't put enough money on the card ($1 short), so it was declined. He added more to the card and got declined again (thought he had enough, but it looks like there was a fee because of the overdraft, $23 it appears). Now he will likely have a 2nd overdraft charge. It would have been cheaper and easier to have put a few bucks extra on the card to start with.

Well, still - he should have been keeping track of the exact amount on the card, and never let it get that close (as you said...keep a bit extra on it). And why use a pre-paid debit card? That doesn't make much sense, either. If you get a checking account linked to a savings account you will have overdraft protection (usually) for free. Something doesn't sound right about this at all...I've overdrafted before (billing mistake), but I've never had a card get declined for being $1 short.

Yeah. I don't know. I've never used a pre-paid, so I'm not sure how that works (overdraft part). Some people choose to use pre-paids if there are afraid of identity theft or just don't have a bank account (w/ debit card) and don't have a CC.

He should have got the final amount (w/ shipping and tax) upfront, put that amout on his pre-paid plus say $10 or so extra for 'just in case'. It is a debit card, so any extra is not wasted. You could aways use the amount left over on the card to buy other things (music, lunch, whatever). By not having enough on the card, it looks like he'll be paying like $46 in fees ($23 x2 overdraft).

Hopefully this will all get corrected and he'll learn something in the process.

So because I dont have at least $500 on a prepaid card (from check cashing and not the bank, which I use solely for this purpose) at all times, I dont deserve to own a 7? I have other ways of managing my money but due to past experiences I have found that this is the safest way for me. This has never happened to me before in the past and so far it's still at 426. Either way The money isnt a big deal and I'm not bitter about anything. I was just looking for answers.

I apologize for any trouble I'm causing. I'm sure we can resolve this some time this week. Either way I'll try putting more money on the card (with extra this time) and just start over with the order at the end of the week.

What I originally thought was that the card was linked to your account...meaning you were emptying an account to buy a car part. Because I was wrong about that, I appologize.
