Ricky T flaked on sale
#11
The seller was the flake, I agreed on price promptly, I was prepared to pay the same day.
Being a stand up guy looking after another enthusiast who needed the intake right away, I texted him about this opportunity and told the seller I would let my buddy buy it "if he responded and paid today", otherwise I would paypal before the end of the day for the full asking plus shipping.
I would have let him buy it off me for my cost if my buddy couldn't afford it right away (he is in another city, 200 miles away btw)
No offer, no negotiating the price, I confirmed I would pay in full plus shipping.
Later the same day I get a pm that my buddy made contact.
Next day he pulled out on him and sold to someone else.........
I pm'd the seller inquiring what happened, no response, so he deserves what he gets. If he had a fair explanation (local buyer, buddy purchase, screw you canucks or at least an apology, etc) I would have posted absolutely nothing. His lack of response speaks volumes for his character!
Did I get ripped off, no
Did I or my buddy lose any money, no (other than him having to order a new one the same week from racingbeat)
Do I think someone one day could send money and see nothing, I am not accusing him on this, but understand that this is where many (aka robert) get started......if he wouldn't reply regarding why he sold to someone else, just wait until he "has" your money and doesn't respond.
Soooooo, if one day someone does get screwed, than I told you so....
For now, I will just assume someone local had cash in hand (money always talks) and the seller has no sense of integrity to a commitment to purchase, another forum member or the integrity of the operations of this forum..
In other words......................flake, douche, whatever. You decided for yourself and take your chances....
So for those who say:
If you never paid, he doesn't really own you anything.
rightfully said
I deal with flakes weekly asking me to save something til payday and don't follow thru, I don't get mad if they found a better offer, part of doing business.
all I can say is understand the point, I really don't care about my missed opportunity
I "do" care about my fellow enthusiast's missed opportunity
and I will watch to see if (when) anyone does get screwed by this member in the future

And while I understand your position, you need to keep in mind a few things yourself.
1--this section of the forum is not for this purpose. You had no transction with this seller. this place is to let other members know about bad transactions.
2--you cannot make assumptions as to what this guy may or may not do in the future. It doesnt work that way. Until someone scams, you cannot hint around that they are or will someday be a scammer. Sad but true.
3--this is not how most scammers get their start. I have been professionally investigating scammers for around a decade. They do not get started like this. if he did not deliver to the person he actually did take money from, thats how a scammer gets started. Often, we see them get started because of procrastination, and then they get to a point where they stop caring about making it right.

you really should move on with you life bro, siting here and saying that im a scamer or a fake is way out of your reach, now, had i stole your money or completly had no communication with you then you would have an argument, yea id be kinda pissed if someone told me they were going to sell me somthing, then said they wernt 3 days later, but that dosent mean im going to go out of my way to **** with them. your not here to advise people that im a "flake" so you say, your just mad you lost out on a cheap buy. my post count dosent mean anything. and yea i did obviously send you a reply saying that i had other pland for the intake, why.. ill tell you again. you were suppoed to send money one day, and never did, yea i shoulda gave you more time, but deals dont last forever, you make this such a huge deal. people have done this to me many times but you dont see me whining about it right.. somthing else always comes up in this place.
not here to argue, just people like you shouldnt be doing business if you cant handle what come with it.
this thread is for people that have acctually f'ed people over.. not the case, you cant throw a fit over not being able to buy somthing. but i guess feedback does speake for its self so people can decide for them selves, beleive some random person or to believe that little number in between ( )

I know Ricky, he comes to our local meets, stand up ******* gentleman.
He helps other owners fix their nightmares ect ect.
Im sure your a great guy too.
The only mistake he made was saying ok to your conditions.
He should have said "take it or leave it", then you wouldnt be pissing and moaning over the internet about some used part.
WTF, "my buddie might buy it later today but if he does not I will" yeah, I would have just said no thanks. "take it or leave it"
I burned a birdge over the same ****, now its take it or leave it, decide now. No problems since.
Everyone has learned their lesson, move on.

here's the scoop--handle your own business, and stop worrying about anyone else. ESPECIALLY with the shop you are connected to....you have absolutely no business telling anyone to do anything.

Dude, you have no business speaking in ANY of these threads. Don't you still owe someone $800 for the E-shaft you bought not too long back????

Allow me to help you out there. Everything that takes place within the classifieds section on this forum IS my business, son. So step off.
So go post your own feedback thread about him--and stop sticking your nose in where it isnt supposed to be.
Wrong again, chief....this thread has NOTHING to do with how "you purchased parts from Ricky". So again, seek life elsewhere.
YES! EXACTLY! Thats why you should have kept your mouth shut! The parties in this thread already agreed this was over, and THEN you chime in trying to be a smartass. Well, you were halfway successful in that endeavor...
Look, sport, here's the deal. You have a different story everywhere you go. You joined a Toyota forum telling everyone you were a Lexus certified tech. But you joined a Lexus forum and made a grand total of 10 posts there. You said in this forum a couple months ago that you are a "38 year old white guy", but on the 4runner forum you list your DOB as "July 8, 1982", which makes you 29. And the really funny part is your comment below---
So, you deal with two shops, and without even mentioning which one I was talking about, you already knew. That alone is priceless--it shows that you are fully aware of their reputation.
Dude, you had better get over yourself, and fast. You are not in a position to demand that I "give you my contact information". Trust me, tough guy, you dont want anything I can offer. This isnt your playground from the fifth grade, so you better watch who youre talking to like that.
So, lets recap....for the really slow people.
1--you stuck your nose where it didnt belong.
2--you tried to call me out for being involved when it is my job to be involved. yeah, good luck with that.
4--you then try to tell me what my business is--again, fail--and then you try to make demands of me that I "reply" to your demands to "give my contact information".
Do you like this forum? It would be a shame if I had to show you the door in front of all these nice people...
This concludes your sad attempt at trying to sound off like you got a pair. Good day to you. Let this be the last time you think you have the right to tell me what my business here is. You are obviously mistaken. This is also the last time I expect to see you jumping in where it isnt your place to. This issue was already dead and gone, and then you came along thinking you could talk trash to someone. I do believe I have made my point as clearly as needed.

OK, lets wrap this one up.
First, as I see it, the buyer guaranteed that payment would be forthcoming that day. He said "if my friend doesnt pay you, I will". In other words, this seller had no reason to think that there was a question of this being for real or not. You guys cannot fault 84stock for wanting to help out a friend of his by ensuring that the part he needed was available. Not too many people these days would shell out the money for someone else and say "hey, we'll work out payment, I didnt want you not to get the part you needed". To each of you, including the seller, that tried to make that sound like a bad thing, you guys either were not on this forum when it was a real community or you have simply forgotten. People here used to look out for each other. It's pretty uncommon nowadays.
Ricky--you are, of course, free to choose who you sell to. However, when you make an agreement with someone, you are obligated to hold up your end of that agreement. You didnt do that in this case. I hope you learn from this so that things can go more smoothly in the future. You do not have to accept this kind of a deal, thats not what I am saying--but the moment you agreed, you were on the hook.
Live and learn....
One more thing--rxvedub, if I ever see you try to challenge a mod like that again, youre going to get a vacation to think about it. You agreed to the rules here when you joined--I strongly suggest you follow them.
