I have dealt with wan before and the transaction went perfect. Its a shame he has taken this transaction differently.
But from what i learned from him (ONLY via internet) as i only met him once, that he is VERY stubborn.
He sticks with his opinion hard and strong, even if he probably knows in the back of his mind he's wrong, he's gonna stand up to it and make it the truth.

Simple fact is he sold a shifter saying it was one thing, it turned out it was something else. He didn't think it'd make any difference.
refund this guy's money.

Roller,
Here is a side-by-side comparison:
Mazdatrix:
From ad:
Stock (OE) Rx7 Shifter:
From that, I'd say you might be right. The fat part of the actual shifter stem looks different than an actual Mazdatrix. The Mazdatrix shifter also looks like it has the company name etched into it...OP, does the shifter you received have "Mazdatrix" stamped/etched into it anywhere?
The guy could very well be selling a chopped stock shifter as a name brand aftermarket replacement.

The posted "Stock (OE) Rx7 Shifter" pictured above is misleading because it is NOT an OEM Mazda shifter. It's a Mazdaspeed shifter.
On the FD OEM shifter, bottom section is much shorter and it also does not come with spacers.
The shifter he sold is from Mazdatrix which is also a replica of a Mazdaspeed one, possibly shorten for aftermarket shifters.

Few pics of a OEM shifter:
Hope this clears up a few things...
I'll talk to Rilwan to IM you to make things right.

I think this is clearly a case of unsatisfied customer. Regardless of who made or didn't make a wrong statement. NJstreetrx7 has a pretty extensive sales record and I'm certain he will refund you the money. If in fact the Item in question was misreped. I'm sure his rep is worth more then what it was sold for.
BTW I'm do to receive the JIC muffler from him on Wednesday. I'll see how reputable he is. So far he has been Honest and upfront about the transaction.

regardless of the origin of any part, anytime the part is altered the seller should be disclosing that information before someone sends money, not after. The truth about short shifters is that you ruin the shifter by cutting off the top--it isnt about "short", its about pivot points--thats what makes the short shifter work better.
