Denser - Stanley dodging me for weeks now
So I paid for a non-running Kent widebody from Stanley in NY. I live near Seattle. He was cool enough to let me make payments on it, and I paid for storage for it till I was able to setup a shipping company. Error after error with the shipping. No pointing fingers on this, the problem was not all Stanley (he was only available on Saturdays and Sundays, THEN only available Sundays, Then it was only during a 30 min window on Sunday... and when the driver gets there, Stanley says he is unable to leave work to meet the guy and sign the paperwork for pickup. Try and explain that to a shipping company) The shippers were morons. Unable to comprehend what non-running means, they show up and realize it actually IS a non-running car and freak out and leave. Another company saw pics of the car then bagged on the pickup when they realized there was a body kit installed despite the fact the kit is shown on the pics.
During all this, I guess Stanley picked up another 7, then got into an accident. When I finally decide I'm going to give up on my dreams of the widebody, I figured I was going to have to line up a buyer and try and act as a go-between to get me the money, the buyer the car etc etc...
Turns out when I contact Stanley, he was interested in refunding me the 1100.00, as he wanted the car back now. I've been promised several times he would be able to send me money.
August 23rd - He said he'd send it out asap.
Sept 28th, he said he might be able to send me half his next paycheck.
Oct 12th is his last login here, he's not replied to texts, nor called me back after voicemails.
So now what.
During all this, I guess Stanley picked up another 7, then got into an accident. When I finally decide I'm going to give up on my dreams of the widebody, I figured I was going to have to line up a buyer and try and act as a go-between to get me the money, the buyer the car etc etc...

It's 2900 miles away. I want my money back, not shell out another 1500 to ship it. I've already picked up an 85 gs and would rather put the money into it.
I figured I was helping him out as well since he wanted the widebody back. Just waiting on him to do what he said he'd do and provide a refund.

Several messages here on forums, I have a ton of texts and several emails.
I texted him on the 20th that I'd like him to sell the car and pay me sooner rather than later, he replied instantly 'sure thing' (He was logged on here on the 21st as well)
I sent his number to the person who was interested in the car. I'm not finding any ads online for the car yet, so not sure how he's intending on selling it.

I've ad a couple people interested in the car so if it would be quicker for me to sell it to someone else and let you handle the pickup of it again, let me know. I can really use that money back.

yea my phone is disconnected for a while and im waiting on my job to pay me i get paid monthly and im suppose to fin out on tues when my next check is coming in once i get the info ill tell you when to expect the payment

i know im sorry my phones back running so if anything you can call me or text i actually had to put it all towards rent and was left with a little over 100 bucks but im suppose to get the half of the rent i put in back so im waiting on that now and the parts i was looking for were for a second gen for my friend that crashed his fc not me

Sorry to hear that you got into this mess with him. Thankfully I never ended up selling the rims I had to him back in the spring, got a bad feeling about him. That being said hopefully you are able to get things worked out. If you have a title and everything for the car how would he be able to sell your car by the way?

Update on this. Short version: Car was sold, I got back most of the money.
To his credit, he did go out of his way to meet with several people who came to look at the car. Thank you.
I did not get close to the refund I was initially promised, he was unable to come up with it in time, so we ended up selling it
(and I really hope the buyer does get here and post pics, he said he would send me pics of the completed project).
Did not go nearly as smoothly as I had hoped, but Stanley took care of his end of the deal.
To his credit, he did go out of his way to meet with several people who came to look at the car. Thank you.

Guys, there is a reason why I put a sticky in the classifieds telling everyone NOT to sell thru PMs....buying and selling in open threads is the best way to protect yourself.

It wasn't the sale that went bad, and I actually first bought the car from him off Craigslist. Found out he was a member here later. It was his offer of a refund that went bad, he just disappeared and was making no effort to pay me back or to sell the car. Once I posted here, he got a little more motivated and was responding more. He had a lot going on, and I understand all that, especially is he is military (not sure) but his communication skills are lacking.
Doesn't matter much now, this thread can be closed.
