Sigh...

Indian
Yup, Build started in October and still haven't received it yet, whats worst is it's all paid for too. But I'm waiting to speak to him, if that day ever comes.
...
so I've been hearing, but I'm the one living it. Just waiting to hear what he has to say, if he ever, Better yet, I just want my engine
BDC
Yep, unfortunately what Keith is saying about his engine taking forever is correct. I've had his engine here for quite some time. Even though some of it isn't honestly my fault, it is up to me to have it done timely and it hasn't been. I've dropped the ball on it. I'm a slight-bit overwhelmed with work (sometimes both a blessing and a curse). This kind of thing has happened two other times in the past 6 years and it's not stuff I am proud of. I wish I had a perfect record but I don't and it's my own fault. Not much else to say other than it's up to me to make it right and get it done as soon as I can.

Indian
Guys, thanks for the reassurance. I do feel more confident that things will get better now. My last intentions was to bring this to the forum, but after only being able to get to BDC once in a while and with no results for a fully paid engine build, I was honestly in doubt and frustration.

What I am in no doubt about, is with Brian as a builder/rotary specialist(thats why I picked him) .

I would just like this build over with and I do feel it has been too long, too many promises of when it suppose to get done and what not.Not to mention seeing other jobs being finished before mine. I wont beat a dead horse any longer though, it makes no sense.

Brian, Thanks for emailing me, I will reply later on and hopefully you can give me a final date for when you will be finished with this build and when the motor can be shipped.

Thanks again Guys!!!

-Keith

...

Well i hope So. I left an email for him, but he hasnt replied. So i'll see what happens and update this thread

...

I'm glad you can reach him, cause I can't. Maybe I'm not that important of a customer for him to take my calls. I have so much to negative things to say right now, but I'll leave it like that. I'm hoping that Brian will get this done asap. But i'll tell you one thing, I'll only be a sucker once, with something like this ever again.

Thanks Rich for the update. I guess I'll get this engine whenever it's convenient for Brian.

...

Well, I got a reply that nothing has been done to the motor because Brian is sick. What next................

...

Ok here is where I have had enough.

I have been here all these months trying to be calm and understanding to why my engine has not been completed. I really don't care what kind of good guy Brian is anymore, I could care less at the moment. I have been told/lied to that my engine will be finished over and over again. Actually, that is why he was paid in full in November, because he told me that my engine would be finished and shipped by a certain date.

This is to Brian:

I am sick of trying to reach you. You do not answer your phone and only answer selected emails. You have been telling me how the motor was delayed because the machinist was giving you the run around. BULLSHIT.... if you paid for a service to be done, then that person should not be giving you a run around. The only person here giving anyone a run around is YOU.

I am glad that I saved most of our conversations, cause I know I will be using it in the future. Every time you have a excuse about why you haven't finished my engine. Here is your ridiculous time line:

September 30th 2007 : Engine Paid for and sent to you
October 1st 2007: You finally pulled the motor and what not
October 10th 2007: Payment sent for rx8 shaft
October 23rd 2007: I sent payment for you to send out the parts to be balanced and milled.

We spoke in the beginning of November about how you would have the motor finished in 2 weeks. The following week I told you that I would be flying to Miami to meet the motor on the Week of thanks-given. I gave you all the address and what not, We spoke about the shipping cost and tuning and and painting the motor. You ensured that the motor would be finished and shipped.

I flew into Miami and sent Full Payment on the 23RD of NOVEMBER
I called to tell you that I sent the full payment, and I couldn't get you. Saw you online and you then told me that you hadn't got the assembly back from balancing!!!!
You gave me some **** and bull story that you will have everything ready for me in 2 WEEKS. I told you not to paint it cause we're waisting time.

Anyway, Moving 2 +weeks later (December 8th ish) I contacted you and you-told me you just sent the rotors out to get Milled. You will have together for me before Christmas plus you needed to finish up some more Porting!!!!. I reluctantly said OK. I told you we had to sort this out asap, because i have pending Sponsors, waiting for this car to finish.

December 17th 2007: You some-what finish the Port work and posted pictures!!

Tried calling you after Christmas and you would not answer your phone, you would not answer me on Messenger either. Sent you emails like crazy. You reply in January that you were trying to get me and some other guy off your back but the machinist was held up work on the milling. (how can you pay someone to do work for you, and when they screw up, they refuse to correct their work?) Only you can answer that Brian)

You even started an engine build after mine and finished it before mine!! What the hell?

You gave me the run around not answering my calls and emails. I got through to you in about the 3rd week of January. I told you how I felt you were taking me for a ride, and you told me how you were not like that. I told you I had a Paint booth booked for the middle of February for the car show that we spoke about you coming for, so that you can Tune the car. I lost my deposit for the booth because of you.(they only want driving cars, due to the amount of cars that are there). You then offered that you would pay for shipping. As if $200.00 dollars would mend months of frustration, spending money fly to the states and phone bills acquired for call and leaving unanswered messages.

You finally got the rotors around the 1st of February.

You wouldn't take my calls after that. You didn't reply to me until after I posted something on the forum. BTW; throughout all of this, I lost my main sponsor for someone else's incompetence. Then you came on the forum stating that you did "Drop the Ball" but as usual is wasn't really your fault. A contradiction by the way.

Now yesterday, you finally reply saying that you have accomplished NOTHING because you were sick. NOTHING Brian. I paid you to do NOTHING. Why does that not sound fair to me.

Well here's what sounds fair to me.: I WANT ALL OF MY MONEY BACK.EVERY DIME IMMEDIATELY!!!. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH. I don't want this engine again, because I don't know if I can trust this build. I obviously cant count on you for your support if you send me a dud. I don't care how much people love your work, it could be the best Motor ever Built by man-kind. I want a FULL refund for EVERYTHING NOW!!

I was instructed, that I Should/Had to ask back for my money and wait for an response(if I get one) before, I can take this further, so here it is. You have 24 hours to reply. Actually I don't care if you do or don't. I think It's about time i took it up another level now.

In my eyes you have scammed me. You have taken payment and not given me my goods. You have taken jobs with your "overwhelm" amount of pending jobs after mine and finished them before mine, and still haven't finished mine. I don't care if your trying to sell your house and all that garbage anymore. You had an obligation that you never kept.

So folks this is where I am with this. The extra money I spent messing around with this build, I could have gone to a professional shop and had my motor months ago. But I was just too caught up on wanting a BDC half-bridge motor.

I really don't care who is with me on this issue. my aim was to to state the facts and post a time frame along with making my own statement.

It is a shame that you can not take even the most known and "respected" individuals in here for honest people anymore. One bad apple does spoil it for the rest.

-Keith

No, not just posted a link. He could have posted this thread with all of the relevant information so people wouldn't have to sift through another thread to find out wtf he's talking about.

He doesn't have to apologize to anyone Rich because it's my fault. If I were in his position and had plunked out the money he did for this job (in excess of $2500 off the top of my head), I would've blown a head gasket long before. Even though I've had technical problem after problem on this engine (abnormally so compared to others), it ultimately doesn't matter who on the outside messed anything up because they're not the ones the customer is paying. It's me, instead.

I've noticed several people asking me if they can post their thoughts or input to defend me on it but in response I don't want anyone to do so. It's nobody else's business. I can do this on my own steam and I don't want anyone else to prop me up because all it does is lend an unsubstantiated and false sense of confidence to Keith that's undeserved -- what honestly matters is what's the end result of what he's paid for? I didn't handle things anywhere near as well as I could have and it's going to wind up costing me a black mark on my long-term reputation. I'll take my own lumps and learn how to handle things differently in the future.

Keith, just sent you an email. Incase you haven't received it yet, I'm building it Monday and will post plenty of pictures up on the same section where I placed the other porting ones. Been nearly bed-ridden for about 4 days now and am backed up on emails and VM's. If there's a question as to the quality of the work you've long since paid for, hopefully the pictures will help quell that. Again, don't blame you a bit for being upset. As promised earlier, I am also paying for freight from here to Miami.

Brian,, We have been through this before. Promises after promises, what makes this any different. I'm not confident with your promises anymore.

I understand that you have a loyal following, and it speaks for itself, and God knows I didn't want to take it this far, but I felt I , along with others in my corner, that this was enough. I paid you in confidence and I do feel let down. I do not feel you treated me fairly as a customer, that sent money on your request without a hiccup. I can tell you though, that I have started rolling a ball, and I do not plan on stopping it, but i will slow it down.

I would like you to give me a date on the build completion and the date you will ship it out, All i would expect would be before the end of Next week.

I hate dealing with people like this, and I would not of imagined, that I would have to be this cold to you about anything.

I'm sorry, but I've spent more time in this section in the last year than any other, and I have to say that BDC really is handling this situation (or trying to) in a very decent manner. I know it's not my money, it's not my engine, and it's not my time...but he does seem to have every intention on trying to make this right. Besides, if the man has been sick for the last 4 weeks, did you really want him working on your engine? Wouldn't you rather get your engine back knowing that the builder was in good health (physically and mentally) while he performed that $2500 service you paid for? Not saying that the length of time is acceptable...nobody is, but he does seem to be trying to make it right, and that is A LOT more than I can say I've seen from a lot of other people who get posted about in this section.

I would like you to give me a date on the build completion and the date you will ship it out, All i would expect would be before the end of Next week.
Again, I wouldn't think that this would be something you'd want RUSHED at this point. You already paid...you want to be sure that you will get your money's worth, and not something that was thrown together quickly to meet some deadline. Again, I completely understand your frustration. I had an experience with my old FD where a shop took 4 months to replace an engine, and didn't even do it right...I ended up having to take it to another shop to get it fixed. $4000 down the drain for absolutely nothing in return. But, at this point...I'd just let him do his thing - follow the pictures...that is proof that the work is being done. You will get your engine soon, and hopefully both parties can come out of this OK.

I went through this with a respected builder last year, it took months for completion. He does engines as a hobby and is known for quality. He got stuck in the states bringing work equipment back, his work was running 50+ hours/week, wife is pregnant, no time for his own stuf, etc etc etc...It was frustrating, but he is renowned for his quality. In the end patience paid off, and I couldn't be happier with the engine. Just remember, your frustrations will pass when all is over, but the words you type here can be brought back to light any time. I am glad I kept my mouth shut and didn't voice my impatience, after all I have a lot of respect for what my builder contributes to the community. I have had 2 engines built her by 2 different builders, and both turned out great and I would recommend either one, and more importantly either one would be happy to have me as a customer again because I conducted myself well.

I assure you that all is well that ends well. Once you turn they key and hear it run (assuming it's one of his bridgeports) you'll forgot all the water than ran under the bridge......

Well now I have having a similar experiance that you had. I sent BDC my rotating assembly 2 months ago for balancing. He told me a 2 weeks turn around time. I am still waiting, and im also waiting for a call back almost a week later.

Your stuff has already been shipped. As I said in my email, you'll see it on Thur/Fri.

I appreciate you letting me have your balancing done as well as cutting those two rotor housings, but I'm not doing business with you again. That's all I've got to say about that and it ought to speak volumes to those reading.
