87GTR, vanished
87GTR, vanished
Back on 14 Feb I paid $684.59 (includes Paypal fee) for a set of rims advertised in 87GTR's JDM Wheels thread (This post specifically: https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...9&postcount=83 ).
He said the rims were getting shipped out that week and that was the last I heard from him. I elected to take the slowest shipping route (SAM) because the rims were for the summer and there was no point spending the money for faster shipping. Shipping was supposed to take 4-8weeks. A few days later I was tasked to deploy to Afghanistan and by the end of Feb I had left my wife and kids at home in Germany for training.
Fast forward to 24 Apr. I emailed my wife and asked if the rims had arrived yet...they had not. So I emailed 87GTR and he said :
"I got your wheels back about week ago, I made a mistake on the address I am so used to put my address **(removed for privacy)**. I am really sorry, can you send me your address so I can get these shipped out to you?"
Understandable enough, assuming that's what really happened. I emailed him my address (which was on the Paypal transaction details) and never heard a word from him. My mistake was assuming he mailed them out.
Fast forward to 3 Jun. I email 87GTR asking when exactly he mailed the rims out and he responds:
"I held off cause I didnt know if they would meet you in Afghanistan. Are you back yet? Do you want to ship to your **(edited for privacy)**?"
At this point I am irate, to say the least. I hadn't deployed yet when I ordered them originally (I hadn't even been notified yet) so the address he always had was my home address...besides, who orders rims and has them shipped to them in Afghanistan?? I write him an email explaining that this is unacceptable, that I expect the rims to be expedited at his cost as soon as possible. He responds:
"ok sorry, I will drop them in the mail in the morning and send you the tracking number."
On 5 Jun I email him asking for said tracking number...no reply.
On 6 Jun I email asking for a status on my rim shipment...no reply. After waiting what I deemed to be a reasonable amount of time I send him another email and give him 2 days to either issue me a refund or email shipping and tracking info...after waiting 2 days I still have not received a reply.
So now I have to go through my bank and try to get a charge back because the Paypal dispute time frame of 45 days has past. And I have to do all this while deployed to a remote location in Afghanistan.
I hope the word gets out about this guy. It's a shame really, he seemed to be a good resource for legit JDM parts. I just hope no one else gets ripped off the way I've been. I just want my money back.
I have attached a text download of the PM traffic and the next post in this thread will be the email traffic (edited for privacy of course).

Tony,
Consider this formal notification that I am seeking a refund for the amount paid, $665, and the paypal fee, $19.59.
I'll also be notifying the forums, so that other members don't have to go through the same ordeal that I am going through.
I assume I will continue not to hear from you.

Wow...
First off, as I recall, it is against both RX7Club and Paypal policies to make a buyer pay the paypal fees. Thats a no-no either way.
I will do a little digging when i get in from work tonight and see what i can find...

I have not vanished anywhere. I had just been very busy this past week because had planned on shipping your wheels on last Friday as I had told you in the email we shared. on Friday before I got to go to the post office my infini FC was totaled and I have not been able to get your wheels to the post office yet. I will borrow a friends truck and ship your wheels out tomorrow and send you the tracking numbers for them.
I received an email from Tony this morning and it appears there's been a series of unfortunate events on his end. Once I receive tracking numbers I'll consider the matter closed.
Tony you have not responded to my PMs and have made a thread complaining about you. I just want my items shipped. Give me the quote so I can get my parts here.
He has been 'ignoring' me for over a month. I would appreciate if he sent a PM saying he was busy but nothing. I even put a note on his profile page.

Update:
Got an email from Tony on 9 Jun and he said:
"sorry I have not given you a reply this past few days. my infini fc was totaled on Friday morning before I could goto the post office. I will be shipping your wheels out later today or tomorrow. I need to borrow my friends truck to take them to the post office."
Here we are two days later and no tracking or shipping info.
