Talk about misery sharing 1 car with my wife dropping me at work everyday.. taking the kids to daycare..packing the kids up.. picking me up from work... someone shot me... Anyway I thought this would motivate them to finish my car. He promised me that by the end of august he would have the car finished or I would not have to pay the other 3k I owe for the work on my car (paid almost 4k when i dropped it off). I was happy to hear that.. but now its Oct...almost November,,,18months STILL NO CAR>

My first rebuild experience 5 years ago I ripped off by Scott at Mazsport for 16k now I get the Best tuner in MD kidnapping my car.. WHY ME????

I have so much time invested at this shop..At this point my dream of having an RX7 is dead. Bought it 5-6 years ago.. Only put about 6k miles on it and its suppose to be my daily driver... you can imagine how my wife hates me after this torture..

Sorry for rambling...Its almost 3am here and I am just pissed about my car... Anyone know of good shop that turns out quality work in descent time?

*Note .. I did not just drop my car off 18 months ago. I called them 2-3 months before my build and scheduled when they would have time for my project. and no my car was not missing parts.. i actually ran when i dropped it off.

I have a friend that will fix your car and then some. He has fixed many cars from those so called in that area....Recently he fixed somebody's FD that was supposedly streetported and ended up not being.

He will even pickup your car from there. He has a trailer and a full blown race car to prove his skills, unlike many fakes in that area.....

You need to pick up your car, my car sat like that also and by the time I picked my car up, it was rusty and with a blown engine.....

Regardless If you weren't trying to bash anyone. It still bothers me that I spent the extra time on your car, To figure out your eletrical nightmare for free just to help you out because I knew you didnt have much money. I also gave you a better price then anyone else on doing your trans swap. I also didnt charge you for having to cut your exhaust off to take your trans out. At the time I was also working a full time job as the head tech at another shop. Then coming home and working for my self. So my turn around times were a little slower then I would have liked. I have since opened back up and just work for the business now and my turn around times are better. This is way I hate cutting peuple breaks. You can come and get your shifter bushing anytime you want.

It's awesome that you did all that extra stuff but that doesn't really give you a leg to stand on unless you let the guy know that all the favors were going to delay the completion time. Just because you did some extra stuff, that doesn't negate all the "bad" stuff that happened. Besides, the guy only said that your wait times were misleading and gave you the ultimate complement saying you were competent. Is there anything he said that wasn't true? I wouldn't be so upset.

see, im leaving alot of information out, if you wanna make ton of excuses. first of all, moneymaket already had a BAD rep on this website for giving & doing bad services. but i give him the benfit of dout because he was a local guy. so i hit him up, i asked him to do a trans swap & omp swap. (450$ trans job) ($50 omp job) & on top of this!!!! he gave me a deadline time. drop off tuesday. pick it sunday...... ok cool already had another omp & trans that i bought. now took him 3 1/2 weeks to finish my car. FINALLY BILL was 840$ !!! i could had went to aacco for that price. he still had my car because it was still doing the 3800 hestination bs. (maybe the used omp is bad).... he tells me buy another ecu, omp. after pulling my carpet back to get to my ecu. there a giant hole right next to my ecu ground & computer... fix my ground, back to normal....... meanwhile its been 1 month & 1week later. i get my **** back. & on top of that.... you didnt complete the job. im still missing my center spring & bushings. my tranny feels great (other than my bushings & spring) havent had any problems, i cant lie... hes work IS GOOD .

They, told you 900 just to do the trans man. I also did your rear diff fluid and used synthetic oil in the trans and the diff. Sometimes when your tiring to find an electrical problem its hard to pin point. I really didn't know how long it would take to figure out and I didn't want to throw parts at the problem. The first OMP was bad that you gave me and the original one burnt up the ECU when it went out and you had a bad ground. I told you to come by on the dyno day so i could put the bushing in for you. I was on the dyno all day and didn't see you called my cell. You can still come by and i will put it in for you. I will call you in a bit and we can set a time for you to come bye, so i can put your bushing in.

After reading this thread it sicken me to hear rotary builder making excuses for something that is at fault. If you tell a customer the time frame when the car be done it got to be done accordingly or atleast let your customer know the delay. There is NO excuse whatsoever!!

As for jon4825 pm me your contact # send me the your car and I will guaranty your car be done within 2 weeks for FREE of labor. This offer is for jon4825 only.

+100 respect

A quoted deadline is a deadline. Its not hard to keep customers up to date. I work a small operation, but even if I had to spend an hour a day to keep all happy customers I would. I spend about 15 minutes now.

Jon, you need to seek an attorney's advise and help at this point. Either that, or you need to go and get your car out of that shop and take it elsewhere. At this point, do you even know if anything has been done to the car? If nothing has been physically worked on, you need to be demanding your money back....if you decide to pull your car, you should bring along a camcorder, or at least a camera, and document everything as you find it. May prove useful if you have a legal battle on your hands.

I do not own a mechanic shop, but my business is in a service industry....my customers get in writing from me, before any work begins, a price to do the work and a time frame for completion. That way, I do not have a customer wondering how much longer it will take. And sometimes, we run into situations that could not have been foreseen--in which case I inform the customer ASAP and explain what must be done at that point. The more you set the expectation BEFORE any problems arise, the less problem you will have with customers if problems show up.

If you like, you can send me a PM with more details about this shop and I can try a few angles on my end.....

Jon

I also think the shop should be named and shamed. I know I'm in AUS and no where near a potential customer but if I heard a story like this from an aussie shop I would not consider them an option.
and srsly, rx7roller02 is right on the money!! Heed his words jon!!

I am going to seek legal counsil. I will update once I get everything start. I guess I will have to look for a new shop, which is funny because 2 1/2 years ago I asked that same on this forum and look where that got me ..

Any recommendations for a good shop around Northern VA. I was thinking about IRPerformance. Any other suggestions?

You could beat the S*** out of them in which case neither of you win. You have proof of payments and pictures of cars current status. You just won a judgement! There are many options at this point but I would recommend coming up with a plan that allows you both to sort of win.

wow i just found this thread and to the op im in the same boat dude, shop in WV has had my FC for about 3 yrs. i paid 4000 up front to get my car back on the road. Now i went to the shop that has my car to see whats going on and found it seating outside the shop, body is completely beat up, interior is bleached from the sun hitting it all this time, car was left unlocked, engine is not even together. last i heard from them there were trying to figure out why there is no spark lol.
In short my Fc looks like a juckyard car or a parts car they have been using.

true, it's like having a shop, doesn't mean that person is all at.

I know he has corrected everybody else's mistakes.

Just in case, His name is Joey from Maralma racing with the fastest protege 5.

I am pretty sure you will not find not even one person with a bad engine from him....

No, but a couple of low 7 sec passes on your engines certainly do make you a bad ***. Building 7.0 sec engines puts the builder on a whole different ballpark
