Microtech Cheat's You!

I got the LT10 and i dropped $1,100

When i got the micro tech all wired up and turned it on for the first time i got a blinking red light.

Microtech told me i would need to reset the ECU....How?......Just connect to a laptop and hold mode for 5 seconds.

But i cant connect to the ecu beacue the seriel cable i have doesnt work....."you need to buy the dongle"

What the **** is a dongle and i have to pay $160 for it?

**** microtech and there bull **** cheating.

They have no value of there customers we pay $1,000 + for there product and the find another way to sap more money out of people.

I i build a car for someone i dont say " O now that you have spent 10k with me ill need a nother 500 dollars so you can have the key"

Get real you con-artist's

I would not reccdomend microtech to anyone after what we have had to deal with go with Haltech the at least give you the cable and software when you buy there product.

they didn't cheat you.

you asked for an EMS and thats what you got, an EMS. which immediately mentions to them that you already have everything else needed to get things going on your own.

they give you what you ask, and nothing more. these things cost money.

maybe you should've left this to an actual dealer for Microtech, because alot of the times with certain parts, buying direct is not always the best way to acquiring items.

in not saying its a bad item but the people need to help the community they are takeing money from.

Include it with the ECU add to the price but dont sell something to someone with an error code and then tell them the only way to fix it is by this item.

They shouldnt have sent me an ECU with a error code plane and simple.

**** happens bro.

Bought a Haltech that was defective when I got it, brand new in the box. Sent it back and had it repaired.

Its a fact of life you get screwed from time to time - not a fact of Microtech.

I got mine through a dealer...much easier. I'd never buy anything from a manufacture directly because it's just as you experienced. They give you no more and no less than what you order. No issues with my Microtech yet and I love it.

I'm sorry, I didn't know I had to give notice when a thread was posted in the wrong forum. That forum is a tech forum not a place to discuss topics such as this. And there was a redirect to this forum left in the old forum.

Just trying to help them to do the right thing.

I have a used unit that I am working on getting up and running. I was quite surprised to know that I need a special connector to make it communicate to the Lap Top. I thought the USB to the 9 pin adapter should work. But I’m in there boat and rowing at this point and in the process of buy the connector. My case is a little different than Man in Black. I’m sure he was all happy and excited to get his car all wired up and driving on his bran new Microteck unit. But only to have the manufacture drive a stick in to his spokes and cause him to crash over the handle bars and scrapes his knees on the pavement.

Just to pass on a little more information. I have a specialized business in the industrial equipment field. My business has done very well over time. 99% of our sale is related to the previous sale and how we treat our customers.

If I had a potential customer (Man in Black) e-mailing me or calling about a product. I would put forward my best efforts to make sure that he got every thing he needed to do what he wanted. My equipment is very specialized just as Microteck equipment is. I know most people would over look certain items they did not relies they needed. Such as in this case.

In most cases you can blame the sale staff for poor communications on their part.

A word of advice to the manufactures of the Microteck system. It takes years of work to build a good reputation of product and factory support and only seconds to destroy that reputation. In my business I would take care of shipping and send this guy a free cable disc and adapter. Also follow up with a call to him to let him know we screwed up. Moving forward talk to my staff and do not allow this to happen again.

Just do the math $ shipping + $ phone call+ $ Cost of one very inexpensive item to produce (I know) = One customer that may come back to the forum with some praise about your customer service. This is worth hundreds and thousands of $ (I know it’s my business to know remember I do sale as well)

Best Regards

Just trying to help

My situation was a little different than Men in Black just look at an earlier post. I have a used unit that did not have the adapter and was quite surprised to know that I need one.

I have a specialized business in the industrial equipment field this would run parallel to this industry that Microteck is involved in. Please do not give me the every one know that line or he should have asked.

If a customer (Men in Black) contacted us we would go through great lengths to insure he got what he needs to do his job. With a line like “ Oh did you know that in order to have this unit work with your Lap top you need a adapter there only $135.00. It comes with a cable, disc and a small adapter.” Not hard to do.

I have few words of advice for Microteck if they want to listen. It takes years to build reputation of quality and good service and only minutes to destroy that reputation. If it were my business I would send free of charge what he requires and follow up with a call to make sure he received it and apologize for the error.

Moving forward make sure my sale staff works better.

Shipping + Phone Call + Very low cost of a product (I know remember I am in the business, cheap investment in advertising, best $ you will ever spend) = One Very Good Customer. You never know he might come back to this forum with a positive reply.

Play it smart

Oh ya for me I don’t care about the adapter my unit was a used and that did not come with one (Lost by the previous owner). I have my purchasing agent looking for just the adapter from you guys I hope I do not have to buy every thing as a kit. At that point I would feel ripped off as well.

Best Regards

Sorry but simple common sense goes a long way..... I'm guessing you did research on different EMS before you settled on the LT-10... From you research, didn't you read that you needed the laptop adapter??? So you had enough sense to buy a ECM but not enough to know you what else you needed to make it work.... Don't blame Microtech, blame yourself for not inquiring more about this major upgrade because if you knew what a LT-10 was and what was used for then, you should have know it required an adapter...

Haltech you say?? Hope you don't start crying when your E11 arrives and you see the "flying lead" harness with no terminals attached to the wires...

Do your research and quite crying because it's your fault, not Microtech

The simple fact is that Microtech baited and switched on us all. Everyone who bought an LT8 was promised a software upgrade to enable such basic features as 3D timing tables, 32x32 fuel tables, map saving to disk, and a few other things. They have been promising this for 5 years yet have failed to deliver. Instead, they come out with a new ECU (LT16) which has obviously taken all of their development time.

Mine was fried from the factory. Sent it to them and had to pay for the repair. It was still fried. Sent it back and had to pay again. Hooked the Haltech up and it works perfectly.

The hell with microtech as their service blows.

2 years later now and the Microtech is still broken after repeated attempts to contact there "customer support" the refused to fix it or even admit there **** failed from the day i got it. i sent it to them they said its fine on there computer and sent it back i re connected and it was still all *** backwards ( and yes its was correctly hooked up according to thier schimatics)
I would not reccomend Microthech to anyone who is not with in throwing distance of there HQ's fron window im planing on vacation in Australia im bringing my Microtech to have a few words in person, my buddys tell me not to start a war but its what i do!
