Hmmm this is interesting. I've actually heard one bad thing about Dave at KDR but from everyone else it has been good. Jesus sounds like a good guy though. If you don't mind Im curious as to what your experience was like.

Jesus is THE most honorable guy I believe I have met throughout this process. He assessed the car in a quick manner. He gave me a price and stuck to it even though he did way more than he originally anticipated. And he did the work in a timely fashion.

He also continues to field my numerous (and usually simpleton) questions and has no problems with me taking the car back to him for additional tweaking/tuning. I'm going back down on Tuesday to ensure everything is ready to go for DGRR.

His is also an expert rotary mechanic. These facts, combined with his integrity, make him the logical choice for anyone in FL.

Ok here goes for everybody that has been asking me :
long time ago i decided to convert my car to 3 rotor
ok no problem , i got the subframe and stuff from pettit etc etc
Back then i had a good friend called ROLO from central florida turbo he was the best buddy i had in this business , good guy awesome tuner , i mean seriously , the guy is wicked good with halltech and microtech , (i am shure that by now if jesus is reading this , and he sees the name rolo hes going like .....****....
anyways i was supposed to get a streetported fully build doweled engine ,usually i do this myself because i build 13b`s myself but they gave ma a good offer nad come on , who wouldn`t want a motor built by kilo racing right ?so i said ok lets do it (at least that was the agreement we had , and i am pretty darn shure thats what i paid for
BTW if anyone is doubting me , search my name and build up and stuff , there is a long thread on there that i did
anyways long story short , 3 rotor ran like crap , (as in my 2 rotor made more power than that )
rolo came over here did the tuning , ..car still ran like crap , then it popped , of course me being overseas , when i call to ask the guys what they thought could have happend ...of course nobody answers , or calls back (mind you this is about like 3 or so years ago and nobody has still called me back till this day )
but anyways , when i decide to open up the engine myself i find an unported , rusty peice of crap , with old used seals ....so what am i supposed to think
i know how this **** goes , because i am overseas , nobody gives a **** (excuse the language i am getting pissed as i start to remember all the **** these people made me go through) about people the build there engines for when they are overseas , because they think ...whatever i will never hear from this punk again , so yeah let em **** him up make some quick cash
so after that i had to assemble everything myself (did it right this time ) and now after loosing countless hard earned pennies , on some very funny prank of a piece of **** engine i finally have my car running , to think just before it popped i did a magazine piece and gave these guys props ....****`em
now the only thing that pisses me off is that my UIM is stamped KILO RACING till this day , i cant sand it off because its pretty deep , and those intakes are hard to come by, and now i have to see that **** written on my manifold everytime i open my hood , like its mocking me
like i said he might be good , he probably is , maybe i got screwed through ROLO because he set the whole thing up , but nontheless as an engine builder you cannot let **** like that leave youre shop , especially with youre name stamped on it , YOURE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ENGINES YOU BUILD .....and bye the way i am still missing my alternator , because they never send my engine with its alternator , so now i am having a tought time finding that as well , because the 2 rotor one does not hold up that well with the 3 rotor (david you know this to be true )
Anyways i appoligise for the rough language , but everytime i think about this and realize how much money i threw away , i get severely pissed ,
till this day i have the unported exhause housings to prove this , and if anyone requests me to post pictures to prove all this i will gladly do so
i am not looking for redemption because , i am not stupid , i know nobody is going to give my money back , i wouldnt want it anyways , money earned that way leads to bad karma anyways , but **** , i almost dropped out off all this rotary stuff , which i love so much , because of some ******** who wanted to make a quick buck ....and i am still looking for an alternator ....or a simple "sorry i screwed you out of youre money " would suffice

Ok to clear things up, there have only been two 20B builds at my father's shop other than his drag cars. One of those being David Hayes, the other a good friend of my dad (Angel). I'd like to know where you are getting information because my father does NOT stamp anything into a customer's car. You might want to talk to ROLO because this seems like a business between the both of you. Kilo Racing's phone is always available Mon. - Fri. 9am to 7pm. 407-438-5467 Have a good day.

Please tell us what they told you in a private communication with them and why that was not satisfactory. Also, since i am someone who had severe problems with a well known tuner and had to document that problem for a two year court battle, i cannot tell exactly who did what to you in your experience. Did you deal directly with jesus padilla, have an estimate or contract with him to have certain work performed, bring your car to his shop, discuss the work with him, and he then did the "bad job" so to speak that you refer to in your post?

I ask this because it is not clear to me from the post. In fact, from your post, it sounds as though you had someone named "rollo" build an engine for you or that you think that rollo had jesus build your motor. Who, exactly did you deal with and was rollo a part of jesus' business or what?

It's true. Funny you say this because I was just thinking I wanted Kilo Racing on the UIM of my car and it is not there. I'm going to see if your dad has a sticker that will fit the UIM

First off , what would i accomplish by sitting here and lie about something , so please , there is NO need to attack me
Secondly , look like i posted before , Rollo handled everything for me , he was the middle man , BUT, and here is the big thing :
I live on a island in the carribean , i had to fly all the way there to look at my engine , and i am sorry killito , with all do respect my engine was build there so you do not have youre facts straight , i flew all the way there because my engine was taking too long to build (in my eyes at least ) so i flew all the way to back to the states to go and pick up my engine only to find it still in pieces not done , i wanted to take it home but obviously i couldnt
i spoke to a gentleman there i assume is youre father , big kilo and plus they even showed me kilo`s infamous first gen car , so i was there
now as to you guys not stamping anything on the engine is true , at the time i was very excited to have my engine build by sucj a big name , so i requested if they could stamp there name on it ......like i said , i can provide pics to prove this
Further more being kilo`s son you MUST know Rollo from cetral florida turbo , because he used to help/tune youre fathers car
Could Rollo have screwed me .....maybe ...but still its no excuse to have delivered me a crappy engine , that is very unprofessional and also a very low thing to do in my eyes
When i tried calling i kept getting shot down
FACT : my engine WAS build by kilo racing , and was not done right , i am sorry i know nobody likes to hear this type of feedback , but thats just the way it is
and like i said before i am not looking for anything , i know how this stuff works , in the end the little guy always ends up getting the short end of the stick , so i had to be a good boy and swallow all that and go start over , which i did , and i believ i build a better engine that i had before
Gordon and david , you must understand , that this did not just happen a few days or months ago , this happened a few years ago , even his son does not seem to be aware of this , do you think he can/will do anything about it ....no , and i dont expect him to either ,because it wasnt him that did this
i am not badmouthing anyone i am just laying this out here so people know whats out there
Killito i am sorry bro , but thats just the way it happend , ask youre father , Rollo and him where/are close buddys
you couldnt make this **** up
if you happen to come across rollo ask him about MICHAEL and DITO from CURACAO , and whats the story there , i got screwed on my engine and they screwed up my friends $15000 supra engine that i also had to rebuild , but that another story
My engine was build by KILO and i was in youre shop in orlando
please dont attack me without knowing or finding out the truth first

Felix, I wouldn't post something on here about my father if I didn't ask his approval of it first. I asked him about the engine and he has NO clue as to what you are talking about. Besides the point, say he did build your engine, who tuned it? You can have a 900hp engine and if it isn't tuned right then what is the point? What exactly is your complain? His number is posted there if you wish to contact. Good day.

hhmm, let me try it this way
No , i did not contact Jesus` son , you see i did not ever deal with him , i dont even know him
I am not dumb ,and this is not the first time i`ve been in this situation .
you have to understand , you live in the states i do not ,if something isnt right you simply drag someone into court until you reach a point that you are satisfied
Being out of the states (my case for example)i couldnt do none of that ,vendors know this so a "claim " that is out of the states is always pushed aside , like i said this is not the first time this has happened to me
That is the main reason i did not contact kilo`s son ,simply i know that there is nothing he can do about it ,besides when this happened (~4 years ago ) i tried complaining and it got me noware ...see above
the thing that makes this difficult is how everything happend which i will explain here again in detail so you can see i am serious
The deal was made with Rollo from Central Florida Turbo , he was my good friend and hes been on the island here a few times , the man knew my family and all , i was pretty close (at least thats what i thought)
Rollo was real good with kilo ,since he tuned his car for him
so Rollo said to me , why not go the next level , i can have kilo give you a good deal on a 20B ported and ready to go , and i can supply the other parts(turbo ,microtech, injectore etc)
Him being the good friend he was , i trusted him completely
so as soon as he`s back to the states i start sending him money , i didnt need a reciet , because where friends right , like i said the man knew my family
Nonetheless , when i thought it was taking a bit too long (6+ months) and everyday calling and beeing told that it was about to be shipped (note long distance calls aren`t cheap)
i decided to get my *** on a flight to see what was really going on , or at least see my engine ,or maybe even bring it with me (Note flights to the states form here aren`t cheap)
I get to rollo he tells me that it was kilo that was slow etc etc , i started to think something was fishy and that maybe rollo wasnt being fully honest with me , so i asked him to go see kilo and my engine .
After alot of sandbagging (trying to keep me from seeing/talking to kilo ) i finally was shown the way to kilo
And here is where it gets interesting
I get to the shop i find kilo , i talked to him , got a good impression , sounded like a nice guy
not much of a talker seemed much more of a do-er then a talker , i asked him for my engine , he shows me a bunch of plates and housings on the floor surrounded by the wiring harness it came with
At this point i am a bit sad and happy , sad because my engine is nowhere near completion , but at least its real .
So i ask kilo when do you think its going to be ready , he says ask rollo , because he`s waiting for some parts or something
I kept talking to him ,asked him about the agressive street ports i wanted , he even showed me his NHRA champ car ,the grey 1st gen ,which is incredibly clean and at that point it had a full interior , plus he told me he had a 20B either ready or in the works in another 1st gen or something like that
So after talking to him i got a good sense that things would finally move , i fly back to my place and wait
After about a week of beeing excited that my engine would finally delivered , i call them up just before they ship it and i tell kilo (NOTE i talked to the man) please stamp youre name on the manifold or engine somewhere , so people down here can see that i have an engine assembled by a world champion , he agrees
After about a month (maybe a little less ) i get the call to go pick up my engine
I install it , Fly rollo down here to tune it , i could tune it because i can .....but why not let the same tuner who tunes for the world champ tune for me right , after all he`s my friend (note i payed for the flight/stay, all costs ,thats not cheap either).
The same day rollo leaves the engine pops , i called , he didnt even arrive yet , they told me he would call me back as soon as he`s back ...........I`ve been waiting for that call ever since.
After a few weeks of thinking this was just a nightmare , i finally snap out of it and decide to tackle the job myself , i open the engine ,....and find slightly , you could call polished, not ported exhaust housings , stock intake ports you could close off with youre pinky ,old seals , and a hell of a lot of rust .
Altough rollo did most of the money handling (if not all) the thing is i SPOKE with kilo regarding this engine , he knew it was going to me ,it is HIS engine, HE build it ,no matter what you say he is responsible for the engine , i dont know what deal he and rollo made , but the engine was his responsability regardless

Which brings me to my second reason i did not call kilos son , like i said before i highly doubt i will get reemburst for this ,nor am i expecting it ,so why waste more time and money(note these calls arent cheap)i just think these things should be out here for people to see
Like i said at the top of this post , if you live outside of the states , you get easily raped on these things if youre not carefull .
If kilo`s son wants to clarify or comment please do so here , i dont have anything to hide , and i believe i deserve to talk publically about this (it has cost me a few thousands )
I have no beef with kilo`s son , he might be a good upstanding guy , and he`s done nothing to me , one thing remains a fact , my engine was build by his father ,and was not done the way it was agreed upon (remember i spoke to him)
I wasted alot of time and money , hard earned money to do that project , when you get hit like that it hurts .
My car is already running , and i am happy again , if kilo`s son wants to call me i will gladly PM or post my phone number for him to call me (wouldnt know why , because like i said there is nothing he can do )
People Need to know this , thats just how it is

Michael

For the record - Rolo did not tune my father's car. What Rolo can be credited for is teaching my father how to use Microtech. Thanks.

If you never wrote a check to Kilo, you have absolutely nothing to complain about in regard to him or his business. You made a mistake and you paid for it.

If you don't mind, here is what I suggest happened. Your friend Rollo needed or wanted some money and said he would get Kilo to build you a motor. He took your money and spent it on hookers and drugs or balsa wood or whatever. When he hears you're coming to town, he brings a box of parts over to Kilo and gets Jesus to agree to cover for him a bit by telling Jesus some story that Jesus buys. You leave and Rollo gets somebody -- maybe a mechanic at Kilo even -- to put together the motor. They (Rollo and some tech) stamp Kilo Racing on it and send it to you. When you call them, they say they don't know anything about it and you think they're lying. But they're not, because it was all Rollo, who, as you say, disappeared. Kilo didn't disappear, Rollo did. With your money.

This is all just speculation, of course, but I suspect its closer to what happened than what you think happened. I don't blame you for being unhappy, but you have no idea who did what to whom here and I strongly suggest you think about what happened and who is to blame, other than yourself for the bad decisions you made in not contracting directly with Kilo.

It would be nice, of course, if Kilo would chime in and tell their side of the story, but many tuners, like Dave Barninger of KD Rotary, will not post anything even in their own defense. They would rather let their reputations speak for them.

Again, Felix, no one doubts that you got a bad motor or a bad tune or a bad experience. No one is saying that you are stupid. Or, that you are intentionally trying to hurt anyone. But, I think you should be looking at Rollo as the source of your pain.

tell you what , i will msg you through aim tomorrow , as around here now its pretty late , and i cant keep my 8 month baby daughter awake
we`ll talk , like i said i dont think there`s anything that can be done , but we`ll talk if there`s anything specific you want to know
Look man , i know rollo is not the straightest guy i think youre dad even jokingly referred him as "el embustero" so you know
but even if he was "el embustero" the engine still came out of his shop , and you know ,crap man....used seals , stock porting , rust??? WTF
I am not complaining that the engine popped , **** i popped a lot of 13b`s to learn myself, i know its the tunning , but the engine i was promised was not delivered
I just did not see that coming , usually when i talk to someone i am pretty good at reading them , an i though youre dad was a straight up dude , at least thats the impression he made on me
Also i have nothing against you i could , you havent done anything to me , at least youre willing to discuss this openly (to me it shows you have nothing to hide )which is good anyways , like i said ,i cant keep my baby girl up here its late , look for me on AIM tomorrow and i will gladly answer all youre questions

Yeah, I mean its not "el embustero" but something close to it, "Truco". I'm going to be at west palm beach tomorrow for SOUTH FLORIDA RACING. WooHoo! Atleast you are willing to talk about it. Reason I said AIM is because its free. Hope to hear from you soon, I assure you there is something missing about all of this because it just doesn't seem right. Take care.

please at least read my post thoroughly , it took a long time to type
Even if all that is true , i still talked to the man , , even before the engine was shipped i talked to the man on the phone , wouldnt that make him somewhat responsible
Rollo didnt take me to his shop i drove there myself , and he(kilo ) showed me my engine
I asked KILO to stamp his name on the engine not rollo so how would rollo know about stamping anything , if he did , it could only be that kilo told him ,which would automatically mean he`s in on the scam!!??....plus if you knew there was something fishy going on (because they told you some bullshit story ) why would you stamp youre name on it
Just for the record , because i am an idiot apparently , i had rollo handle the engine :
A because i thought he was my friend
B he was getting me other stuff, turbo, injector etc (its easier to send one check instead of many)
C he was on very good terms with kilo , so he could get em a better price , every picture i saw in magazines you could see the two together
D you obviously dont know how hard it is to handle this kind of stuff when you live outside the US
E in this case even if did go directly to him , remember my previous post , i am outside of the US , i am just some shmo living on some island right , i have no credibility
all he has to do is say nope thats not my handwriting , or no thats not my reciet , i have never met this guy, no one will belive me , the idiot from some bum-**** island that maybe you cant even pronounce right,
I guess to some people its funny but there are others on this forum that do think these things are not , ask Red he`s been through something similar , or even worse maybe
thrust me i tell you this is not funny when it happens to you
Very uncool bro ...very uncool
Even if i call now , judging by this conversation , all he will/has to , do is say ...."you know what i dont remember " and voila , hes free from any responsability
i will try and talk to kilito tomorow dont know why exactly , its like rubbing salt on old wounds

This should of been handled between you(Michael) and Kilo Sr. I can tell you from experience and years been part of the family the PADILLA family will never be the ones to categorize under thieves, scammers, liars, or weak engine builders.

Kilo has built motors that have done more trips down the track than an avg rx7 makes miles in a week. He doesnt just build you a motor and collect his money. He will not let a car leave the shop if it is not done right, PERIOD!!

Now if there was something in between the problems you are having that must be dealt with with the owner. Remember Kilo didnt just open his shop or began racing in the last couple of years. He been part of the game for decades , hell when most of the avg rx7 tuners under the age of 30 were begining the rx7 scene ,kilo was breaking records at a local track.

Now, I am not trashing or getting offensive but when a thread like this opens up and 99% of the people know who this man is people get interested and dont know the roots. KILO RACING isnt a shop of mass engine builders its a one man team in there. He works on one project at a time so I am 100%sure he took care of you.

Again no hard feeling or bashing you but this thread should end and deal straight up with the padillas not the "MOUTH of BENCH racers and wanksters"

The end!

Michael, because I believe you are blaming the wrong guy, that is why. Little details on stuff to make sure like the rust. Rust can be cause by anything, race fuel if the engine was sitting a while before you opened it? My dad won't treat you like a nobody, every customer is the same.

Just so you know Felix is alive , I bet you 100 to 1 if you talked to the man himself and dealt with him you too would work something out and get to the bottom of this. As far tuning and engines been blown. I personally seen a engine get tortured for pass after pass after pass on the track and the motor still holds compression and purr like a kitten.

One of the best and definately in the books of rotary history is Kilo you know it .

---------Do you seriously think someone who is well known around the world for his engine building , tunning capabilities and kind nature- because he helps everyone no matter what friend or foe ,would be throwing you out in the cold? Answer this question via PM or to Kilito we would like to know your honest answer please.

I know it all might seem wierd , but you must admit that there is something fishy here
If all this stuff is made up ,there are still pieces of the story that makes you ring a bell somewhere :
i went to kilo`s shop , i was there !, my engine was sitting in youre shop at that time
I spoke to kilo both personally and on the phone regarding my engine
Kilo was the one that coined the name "Truco"/"embustero" for rollo ,the only way i could know that was if i spoke to kilo or someone close to him , i mean come on i couldnt make that stuff up , they where/are friends ,he knew what kind of guy he was , why would he cover up for him ? being part of a scam makes you just as guilty as doing it , plus its just bad for business
I will try and contact kilito today to talk this out
Maybe its good to know whats going on in youre shop , or maybe there was stuff going on there he doesnt know about
Regardless, if i go to youre shop ...talk to you about an engine youre supposed to build for me ,you agree and talk to me about certain specifics of the engine , then when its about to ship i talk to you about it and ask you to stamp it (and you agree) , that means you still know about the engine up to that point ...it would be a very bad judgement call knowing rollo to let that scam go through
Anyways like you guys said , i will try and talk to kilito, he seems to be want to know better what happened
Funny just to see how many people will shoot you down whithout giving you the benefit of a doubt ,after being this long on the forum and having shared so much ,it feels odd having to discuss this again under so much "pressure"..., something went wrong , that i have no doubt , but to me , IF kilo did not build the engine , he knew about it , and that it was mine , and that he was supposed to build it , he should have not let the engine go out to me
I mean youre not going to let someone build an engine , using youre name as the builder whithout knowing what they did right , doesnt sound right to me
Anyways everytime i teld to yap too much about this , i will contact kilito
We`ll see what will happen
Thank you for all youre time
Michael

I am sad this thread has been caused by my positive postings of Jesus and Kilo Racing in my thread and frankly I think the title should be change to "Rolo Screwed me" not Kilo.

Michael, like Gordon and you, I too have been screwed out of many tens of thousands of dollars pursuing my 20B conversion. Several other big name shops took my money, wasted my time and I ended up with a blown engine in the end. One of those shops didn't build my engine according to spec either and upon inspection, I found old rotor housings, mismatched rotors, very little porting, and numerous other problems. I contacted that builder directly and he worked with me to make things right.

So I know where you are coming from. However, the Jesus Padilla I know is not the guy you are describing. He's one of the most ethical persons I have met in the rotary world and as Alex has stated, he wouldn't let my car leave the shop until it was right. He gave me renewed faith in rotary mechanics and he finished in 3.5 months what others were not able to do in over 4 years.

Jesus took the time to break down my engine and inspect it, without ever charging me. He then gave me a price to rebuild the car and bring it back to more OEM like running. He never varied from this price even though he did much more work than originally he thought due to all the mistakes made by others. I now have a beautiful car that makes me grin every time I look at it.

Jesus also always answers his phone and always takes the time to answer my questions. He did this all through the build and even now continues the practice. He also takes the time to periodically call me to see how things are going. In fact, he calls each time I come visit his shop and when I am on my way home to ensure everything is all right. Heck, the man even gave me his SunPass (for tolls) so I didn't have to stop at all of the Orlando toll roads.

I'm a pretty good judge of character (I lecture on the topic at universities) and Jesus is one of those guys that is rare in today's world. He's quiet and doesn't brag a lot but he delivers. Yes, he's a one man shop but he puts out more work than most of the other big shops that worked on my car.

I hope you work with Jesus Jr. (Jesus Sr. not great with computers) to uncover this mystery and I hope you have satisfaction in the end. Your story is so different than my experience I have to conclude you'll find others responsible for your problems.

AAAck ...i get so frustrated, are you guys reading my posts or what
it doesnt matter who payed who , HE was/is ROLLO`s good friend , HE knew what kind of guy he was , HE spoke to me about my engine ,HE showed me my eingine in HIS shop
HE told me he was going to "get it done soon"
Last time i looked kilo isnt 16 and cant be that naieve , if he knew what kind of guy rollo was , it doesnt matter what story rollo told him , HE knows better than to get himself involved in that kind of thing , he knew rollo for a long time , he even has a pet name for the guy ,so whatever bullshit story rollo told him , he should have known better , after all HE knew the final product was going to have his name on it
Going along with a scam makes you just as guilty
i am looking for kilito on AIM this very instant as i am typing this
Every body wants to jump and paint me black , judging me to be a complete fool , stop a minute and listen , something went wrong , regardless who payed who it doesnt matter , from where i come from if you talk man to man and agree on something its worth something
He told me he was going to get my engine done soon , if he was covering for rollo for some crappy story (it doesnt matter ) he should know better , he knew/knows what kind of guy rollo is , i didnt
if you know a guy is a scamer , you go along with it , youre going the wrong way ,
i`ve been trying to explain this for a while now
Dont forget i spoke to kilo , read my previous posts , i too got a good feeling from him , i know why you guys are so hell bend on defending him , i would too
But if he knew what kind of "friend " rollo was he shouldnt have along want along with it , and tell me all this stuff , then you are just as guilty
Michael
