Unhappy Another MMR Horror Story

I'd like to preface this with the fact that Bruce's parts SEEM very quality. However, he's TERRIBLE at communicating. Shipping, in this case, wasn't AS bad as other people's, but it was still pretty shitty. Here are the facts:
  • I live in Madison, AL. It's only about ~190 miles to Cookeville, TN where MMR is located.
  • I ordered my parts on Feb. 20, 2011
  • I still hadn't received shipping notification on the 23rd, I pinged him.
  • He hit me back on the 24th and said my order should be shipped by the following Monday (the 28th). To me, this seemed a little long without explanation, but I wrote it off -- I wasn't in any hurry, but that doesn't mean I like having parts outstanding with money paid...ya know?
  • On Wednesday the 2nd, I received an email via PayPal stating that my order had been "shipped". I received a "tracking number" (let's face it, you can't track **** handled by the USPS...at least not until it's delivered) and it said: "Electronic Shipping Info Received, March 02, 2011".
  • While I'm waiting, I place an order for a rear main seal from Mazdatrix, shipped the same way, from Signal Hill, CA. I receive it in 2 days...
  • March 7th, I place a call to the number listed on the registration for mmr-direct.com (I will PM the number to any parties interested), informing Ross that I'm planning on filing a PayPal complaint at the end of the week if I've not received my order.
  • According to what is now on the tracking page, the order was shipped the next day, March 8th.
  • Today, March 10th, I received my order.

I've read SEVERAL horror accounts dealing with MMR, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone state they'd actually been shipped a wrong item. Has anyone else had this happen?

Anyway, it's really sad. Bruce's wares SEEM to be quite quality. If his customer service was worth a damn, I think he'd do a LOT better. It's ironic though, all of the bad publicity has been constant. From customer accounts, it doesn't seem like it's gotten any better in the last 4 years, but people keep ordering from him. Equally ironic...I don't believe I've ever seen him defend himself or his reputation.
Here's the kicker:

I ordered UHMW DTSS eliminators, spherical trailing arm bushings, individual rear camber adjusters and aluminum subframe collars. I got everything, but instead of the collars, Btuce sent UHMW subframe bushings. I'm going to ahead and keep them and just dress the subframe to the 9's I guess.

^I think they only do FC parts.

MMR has pathetic business skills, search their name on here. I dealt with them, after 2 months after the order was placed, I finally got a refund out of them.

According to their site, they several other cars as well.

I'm pretty sure that the "company" is just a dude (Ross Bagwell). I can completely agree with Nate about Ross' business skills. I only wished I'd seen all the bad press before I placed my order. Caused me to sweat a little.

That being said, the products are of great quality. It's just the communication and timeliness of shipping. I don't think he has an account on here or anything. I just wanted to post this as kind of a buyer-beware.

am i allowed to ask a question in the part of the forum without getting in trouble? if so, i just 1 simple question.
in reading your initial post, you said you pm'd stating if by the end of the week you didnt get your parts, youd file a claim. 2 days later, you got your part.
heres the question: would calling him have helped?
i only ask this because i really wanted to order the whole bushing setup, but now i am wary. i dont want to put out 250 (or however much it is) and wait a month, when i have ordered things from FL and gotton them 4 days later.
mods: if this is the wrong place to post this, feel free to remove it and PM with directions.

Lloyd

Hi Lloyd. I never mentioned PMing him (because unfortunately, I don't know what his account is on here -- if he even has on), but I did place a call. I'm thinking you might have misread, because it was 2 days after I called him that I got my parts. Two days from where he's located is about how long it should take to ship something USPS priority, so I imagine that call was the kick in the *** he needed.

If you need any kind of expedience on his end, I'd suggest that you go somewhere else. I really hate to say that, cause the bushings I got (DTSS elim and subframe) are pretty freakin' legit. To be honest, I feel lucky to have gotten everything as quickly as I did. There are a lot of people who have posted that they never received their parts and had to go through PayPal to get a refund.

Hey, I just ordered some camber adjusters from him on the 14th (one day before I saw this thread ) I did not get an email from him confirming my order or showing any shipping information. Does he normally send one? I sent him an email after seeing this thread asking for a tracking # but I have not gotten a reply. I think I will call him tomorrow and see what I can find out.

I know its to soon to be upset, its only been a week, but I don't like the lack of communication.

A little update form me, I just checked my paypal and the status has been changed to "shipped" with a tracking #. It also says "mailing date: 3/24/11" so Im assuming that thats when he will send it out. I did end up calling the phone # provided by paypal but it redirected me to an automatic voice mail (I left a message) Still no word from him (I don't even have an order #...) but as long as I get my parts Ill be happy, I just hope it doesn't take several months like others have said it does.

I too called MMR and got voicemail both times. I also received an email that says the USPS is on notice that they may in the future receive a package to ship to me. I opened a dispute. I just want to know either way - product or refund.

I just got an email from USPS "click-n-ship" saying that my camber adjusters were shipped out today. It looks like it was sent express mail and it has a guaranteed delivery date of April 4th.

From what I've read, Ross makes the parts he sells in batches. I guess he waits until he has a cretin # of orders then makes a bunch and sends them out. I don't know if this is true or not, in any case it does not make up for the lack of communication. I still haven't had any contact form him... I will wait to close my PayPal claim until I get the parts but I'm sure Ill get them. If I do get them on the 4th it will have been 22 days from me ordering them to receiving them. Not to bad all things considered.

From what people have said, if you want something from MMR, order it at least 2 months before you need it lol.

RotaryRabbit: Good luck man, hope you get your parts/money in a timely manor. The problem with my paypal claim was that Ross provided a tracking # so the status of the transaction was "in transit". The status of my paypal claim said that "Information provided by the shipping company shows that the item is still in transit. Once the package is delivered, we will review this case and make a decision." The problem was that he did not send out the package with that tracking #... I dont know how long it would have taken paypal to realize that he didnt ship the item, its like a gridlock. All I can suggest is to be patient.

Just checked my tracking number - lo and behold:

Your item was accepted at 4:11 pm on April 06, 2011 in COOKEVILLE, TN 38506. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

No emails, no communication, no response to my Paypal dispute. Odd way of doing business but his product is supposed to be good

I ordered stuff from them and it took some time. I waiting 2 weeks and emailed them as to what the status was for my order and then returned an email with shipping details, it came in the mail a few days later.

I was happy. But I allways get weird stuff like that ordering from the US so Im used to this kind of treatment :P

It took me like 2 months to receive my products I ordered from MMR. I emailed them twice within that time and only one email was replied to, and it was just another copy of my order confirmation.

I was patient and finally did receive the items. They were great quality and very competitively priced. If they could get their shipment times to reasonably acceptable and their customer service a little bit better, I could see MMR exploding in business.
