Why run a seperate AI system when one can run e85?

I'd like to see an intelligent debate on this. I'm really curious to see what you guys think.

I'm running E85 + H20 because I'm shooting for a gob of HP with no intercooler.

We still haven't seen good data from rotary guys running E85 as far as knock and intake temps. A few guys have been reporting it in the single turbo forum but not enough. I should have some data soon, if I can figure out my computer.

You have one 19 miles from you, some would say that's local.

Easy:

E85 results in worse gas mileage than regular gasoline. With methanol injection, you only spray when under boost, thus maximizing fuel economy.

With E85, your entire fuel system must be compatible with ethanol. With methanol injection, you are still running 100% gasoline in your tank and primary fuel lines. The methanol is injected in the IC piping after the IC or the intake manifold and instantly evaporates. No need for a special fuel system.

You can adjust just how MUCH methanol you want to run.

Methanol is injected into the air charge, thus cooling it substantially (I mean 20+ degrees C).

Methanol has a higher octane rating than E85.

I wouldn't think anybody, looking to use ethanol on a turbo rotary, is aiming for better gas mileage anyhow.

Also, when you're prepared to run e85, you have your tune based on a fuel with an octane rating of ~105...it definately pushes the need for AI further back.

Reading through Viking's thread "running NON- INTERCOOLED" Zero R gives his view on this topic.
