Shurflo pump leaking, rebuild?

Hey guys, my shurflo pump is leaking. I originally thought it was the fittings, but after replacing them, its still leaking, so it must be from the housing somewhere. I was annoyed after it wasn't the fittings and left it to work on another time.

The pump i have is the CoolingMist 150 psi, which i know is a shurflo pump but i don't know which model. Does anyone know if there is a rebuild available for them, or if its just better to order a new one?

This is the pump: http://www.coolingmist.com/detailmai...id=Cool150Pump

I've called ShurFlo directly for a couple of questions and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of support. Once they even sent me a seal as a courtesy, no charge. The person I spoke with said that he was embarrassed that their product had given me trouble and made things more than right. If you Google them you'll find the number. If you can;t find it, let me know and I'll get off my currently lazy butt and check my phone directory for the number. Just make sure you have the pump in front of you when you call - they have a very large number of seal, valve and diaphragm materials in every conceivable combination. There's a number on the pump that allows them to send you the correct part you may need.

Thanks Mike. The only problem is that i bought the pump from coolingmist and they take off the shurflo label and put on their own, so i'm not sure on the model number of the pump.

Does anyone with a shurflo pump from coolingmist know the shurflo part number?

Edit: Its actually on the new label that coolingmist put on it and you can even read it from the pics on the website. The part # is 8030-811-239

If you are running 100% methanol, this can be expected to occur again.

Not necessarily. See http://www.shurflo.com/pdf/industry/CCChart.pdf for reference. If the seals and diaphragm are of the proper materials these pumps are pretty tough. In a completely non-motorsports related field I've experienced them pumping warm acetone for hundreds of hours without issue. Proper selection of materials is essential. A miscellaneous Ebay Shurflo isn't always the Shurflo that will work for very long as many of the generic-intended-for-water pumps come with the Viton or Santoprene construction. Methanol does not play well with these.

Cool

Too bad we don't have Dave from Cooling Mist anymore, I'm sure he would have taken care of you or helped you out.

This was a 100% meth safe pump. However, if it was caused by the meth, it took 2 entire years to wear out and the replacement part were only $20. I'll chalk it up to normal maintenance. Not a big deal at all.

My point being that FJO has issues with their Shurflo pumps and 100% meth; I do not believe that Coolingmist modifies their pumps to be compatible with 100% methanol. Unless you replace the diaphragms and seals yourself, chances are they will leak again.

Only Alkycontrol (that I know of) actually replaces the seals, etc. before shipping the Shurflo pumps.

Actually, if the system integrator orders the correct part number from Shurflo the pump supplied to them by Shurflo will have the correct and compatible components. They have literally dozens of combinations. If you poke around on their web site you'll find a chart that decodes the pump part number. If any company is selling pumps with noncompatible components but advertising the 50/50 capability, well, that's just lazy and negligent. It's not rocket science.
