well i sent my tank in for some modifications and i was recommended to change my bulkhead fittings from the aluminum my fuel cell came with to brass, it wasnt much $$ and its julio from alky control and since im running his kit i figured that would be a good idea. however now i need to make a new vent line and get new fittings for it as well as new fittings and line from the tank to the pump


i didnt know that but swaglev fittings and hardlines can add up and id rather not change them


apparently i "need" the brass because of meths corrosive properties but this kit was run on my buddys car with quite some time with no problems


will i have any problems if i put the aluminum bulk fittings back on????

 

From my online research, this is what I've found.

The impurities in early production zinc die castings or aluminum were conducive to "inter-granular crystallization" as a result of aging. This crumbing destruction could be accelerated by the presence of alcohol and water, but the problem no longer exists in todays version of those metals.
Lead, tin and magnesium are reactive with methanol, slowly but surely. Iron and steel are quite immune, as are brass and bronze.

Aluminum fittings should therefore be fine if their quality are high and impurities low.

 

sweet it looks like ill be putting back the aluminum on the discharge vent but just to be on the safe side ill keep the brass on the fitting to the pump

i am in the second year of running Julio's system and while i have all the brass fittings i did choose to replace the brass T fitting for my dual nozzles w a better flowing Y fitting.

the only Y i found was a NOS aluminum fitting. after clearing it w Julio i started using it July 06. i took the system down at year end and carefully examined the fitting and it looked like new. this is w 100% meth.

the fitting is anodised.

hmmm thats weird last i spoke to him he advised me NOT to do that, ive since then gone a different route for hooking up my 2 nozzles, blaaaaahh money down the drain, he said he wasnt goin to charge me for the labor but of course he did
