import parts book/Vin data

hi all

there is a lot of info on the net about the many versions of the FD3S rx7 but not all of it agrees and little of the stuff in english is about the JDM, japanese domestic market versions

i'm going to try and put together an excel spreadsheet of the data found on the white JDM vin stickers found in the drivers doorwell of cars made from FD3S-200000

i will send this to anyone who pm's me a photo of an FD3s white vin sticker, or email ericeason@hotmail.com

there also seems to be some good info available from the front pages of the official mazda parts books. as far as i can tell a different part book was printed for each of the 6 different versions produced in japan. (the 1st number stamped on the firewall after FD3S- denoted the JDM version)

i've scanned and posted the info for the version 5 car parts book and will try and do the same for the other parts books if mazda dealers will let me;o)

Hi E,

Interesting that the RS only got 'normal' suspension according to the list where as the type R got the 'hard'. Thought the RS was fitted with bilstein!

all that can be told from that number, without using a mazda dealer computer, is that's a 93/94 model. called a version 2 in japan.

the gauges should have a black bezel as opposed to the earlier cars silver bezel

it should also have the rear-diff bracing

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx...to&PhotoID=800

info, in japanese, from the 1st pages of the parts book for these cars can be found at

http://groups.msn.com/2wheelsgood/rx7.msnw?Page=2

it could be an RZ, R, R2, X or S model

post a pic of the white doorjam sticker for more info

same as above

with just the jdm chassis i can only tell you that is was probably 1st registered in japan about jun 1986 and has the 16bit 265hp engine and black front strut bar, unless it is an auto as their power was often down....

most of the model info is printed on the white doorjam sticker, which you would need to photo and post/send..........

if you just want to know what model it was made as, then that can probably be told from the 3 letter code that was also printed on the alloy plate with the chassis number and paint code on the engine bay firewall. some years only, eg not 1992

JKE would be the base? RB model
JKB is the RS with 17inch wheels and, more importantly, brakes

doubt a mazda nz dealer computer will tell you much about a jdm car as it's hard to imagine them translating all their japanese dealer info into english

do some googling for version 4 fd rx7's, the info is out there, alot on an nz site too

the mazda guys here don't seem to sell parts books, if that's what you mean, they have all switched over to computers now and there are probably none left from the original 1 off printing

if you mean the owners manual there is better info on the net AND it's all in english

just added it to my database

probably 1st rego in japan about sep 1996, for it to be a 1997 car the chassis number would have ready somethinbg like FD3S-405xxx

should have JKB stamped on the alloy plate, along with the paint code NU, on the engine bay firewall

would have come from the factory with the black enginebay strut bar without the RX7 badge and tensioner screw

265hp engine with 16bit fuel computer
