My car is more of a perpetual race car project that sits for decades at a time in the garage being worked on here and there.

I can say that upon recently removing the turbo and manifold I did notice the tacky residue coating inside the manifold runners. This is just from idling the car a handful of times (some with E85 in the tank, some with pump gas). I had Benol in the tank as premix.

I also noticed that after sitting for extended periods some brown oily fluid was weeping from a couple of the fuel system AN fittings. Not the threaded part, the part where the two pieces of the same hose end join. Maybe I just have to tighten up the fitting. It doesn't evaporate and it doesn't smell like gas, I think it's Benol residue.

Gonna pull apart all my fuel sys components for inspection. No more Benol, I'll stick to Redline for now on.

Wanted to bump this thread back up to see if people could provide recent updates. I have personally spoke with Howard and a handful of builders/high HP FD owners. There is still a lot of debate on E85 it seems. When I do tear everything down I am still between E85 and Pump + Methanol as Howard really likes. I do like the cooling properties of E85 and would probably buy 55 gal drums if I went that route. I also like the idea of a single source fuel supply and less to potentially fail with gas + AI, although running the AI through something like a Haltech 2500 seems to be successful as well. Wondering if the stock OMP, plus premix and OEM apex seals might mitigate the ear issue if it is truly a lubrication issue.
