Series 2 30-6050 box...different pins, same function?

I as going to post this to the 30-6050 part of the AEM forum, but nothing seems to get answered in that forum that isn't directly Honda related.

Why does the 30-6050 box have duplicate pins for the same function? Is this because different Honda's use different pins to control the same thing? If so, does that mean either pin can be used or should a specific one be used?

Pins I'm referring to:

A9/C23: This one seems self explanatory, but why 2 pins?
A9 - T3 (Vehicle Speed) - **This pin connects to C23 also**
C23 - T3 (Vehicle Speed) - PnP Vehicle Speed Sensor

B13/C4: Again, seems self explanatory, but why?
B13 - Coil 1 - PnP Coil 1, Rising Edge Trigger
C4 - Coil 1 - **This pin connects to B13 also**

B15/B23: Which is the real PW1 output? (Seems they are connected as well looking at the 30-6052 S2000 pinout)
B15 - PW1 - PnP For Idle Control Solenoid
B23 - PW1 - PnP For Idle Control Motor

B24/C22: again?
B24 - Knock 2 - Available, software knock filter
C22 - Knock 2 - Available, Knock Sensor

Some pins do different functions and some are just duplicates. The 6050 box works on multiple applications. Some pins need to be in certain spots for those specific applications (honda).
