software side, no it should work just fine with the rx7 setting it currently has. ( as per ruddyrids' explanation )

hardware side, the aem epm requires the jumpers to be moved to read the correct signal:

http://aemelectronics.com/files/inst...sion%20Kit.pdf

page 13 tells you how to open ecu to swap jumpers for hall effect/aem epm.

does your ecu look opened ? , this should already be done.

Oh, sweet. Yes I'm pretty sure he did what he needed to do inside the ECU. I know he was talking to AEM as he setup the EPM and installed the ECU, so I'm pretty sure he got it sorted out.

so there is light, did you manually check the epm output as noted in previous posts, by manually turning the wheel and looking at ems.

are you able to connect to the ems again ?

I was a bit confused by the instructions. When you say manually turning the wheel, do you mean rotating the head of the EPM, turning the crank, or what?

first turning by hand to see if the sensor shows as "on"

then cranking with injectors "off" to see if it records RPM

then Setting timing as per instructions. ( keep CAS/EPM locked)

I was able to connect to the ECU; it looks like the main power wire for the ECU wasn't connected except with electrical tape; I made it a little better but not perfect. But now it seems like the fuel pump isn't working--won't start and I can't hear the fuel pump. Ugh.

PS: I'm about the put the car up for sale. I'm going to continue trying to get it running while it's for sale, but we'll see...

might be an option to contact eb turbo , buy a harness from him for your ecu.

it will be worth it. He also provides amazing support for AEM products.
