what you need is a GOOD base map (which aem does NOT provide). You also need to learn about boost comp tuning. Those two things will make your experience with the AEM MUCH more enjoyable.

that is entirely not true. There is one hardware bug where you must switch two wires for the throttle position sensor. Other than that, its all tuning. The base maps have a lot of errors, but if you fix those then its perfectly suitable. The AEM software really makes all of the other ems software look like toys in my opinion.

on paper nothing can touch the AEM EMS.
map switching
active knock ignition/fuel control
traction control
individual injector control
etc etc, and there are tons of etcs...
that's on paper. the overall FD/AEM relationship has been a train wreck. perhaps this is because the unit requires that your fill in all the blanks. we do know that the AEM works well on other apps... so it should work on the rx7.
we also know that some of the other AEM prods have significant flaws... such as the CDI module.
i recently bought the FJO injector driver convertor over the AEM because of just this consideration.
as to the primary question posed: i do not believe that the AEM EMS for the FD PN 30-1800 is made in a "U" configuration.
i am still considering the AEM...

if you want the ems universal with the uego part numbers is 30-1900u you cant get a plug and play with the uego you have to buy part number 30-1800 thats the plug and play only for 93-95 and if thats what you want you have to buy a uego seperatly the part number is 30-4100

The AEM works pretty well in the hands of a tuner who knows what he is doing. Ray Wilson at PFS installed mine, tuned the car, and reported no difficulty related to the unit. There is no longer a problem with the TPS.
The biggest problem is that the doumentation and manual are impenetrable. Why they have not improved it is beyond me. Tech support does come on line quickly to answer questions.
