RX-7 S6 plug-in: Is full emission support possible with expansion modules?

Hi
I am trying to research what ECU would suit me best. Currently, it stands between Adaptronic, and Haltech. (both plug-ins)
I was until recently under the impression that full emission support was not possible on the Adaptronic, but when sitting down and comparing it point by point with the Haltech Elite 2500, i found it to be possible. At least i think so.

In the diagram posted as part of the setup documentation of the plugin ECU, i found the above picture. I find that there are 9 emission related outputs. (Marked in red + blue)
8 of those are pinned so that you can use an upgrade module to control them. The 9th, "Secondary Air Switching valve", have no connectors from Adaptronic. But with a quick re-pin of the harness i can sort that out.

If i use 2x "Small Output Module" in the expansion slots, this would give me 12 more outputs. Substract 9 for the Emission stuff, and i am left with the following to spare:
- 3x Ouput
- 3x Input
(Or 4 output, 2 input if i decide to repin the EGR function sensor as well or 4 output, 3 input if i can do without it)

Am i correct in my conclusion that with an RX7 S6 plugin ECU (eMod011) + 2x "Small Output Modules", i will be able to control all emissions + have 3 spare outputs (and 3 spare inputs)?
This would actually make the Adaptronic a better option (more outputs) than the Haltech 2500, if my research is correct?

Yes you are correct on the outputs. Let's have a chat tomorrow and we can setup your basemap and verify we can make everything function.

Cheers,

Cool, i have not bought an ECU yet, as i need to make sure it can support all my requriements before i buy something. With this info im pretty sure its going to be an Adaptronic, since its better equiped than the Haltech, and cheaper.

Regardless of purchasing the ECU or having the ECU on hand we could create a basemap together and verify we can make all the functions work as intended.

Cheers,

Aha, nice! Ill see if i can create an overview of the required outputs and how they function. Would that be good?

Here are the outputs that control emissions, and how to test them. This does probably not cover all the functionality, but at least it is a start i think.

2J is a simple on-off replay for the air pump
3H is for the EVAP system and charcoal canister. Not sure how ic functions outside 1,5-3,3k rpm tho.
3K should be simple, coolant temp set to 40C
3N Not sure how it functions outside the bounds
3P Not sure how it functions outside the bounds

4M is just hot start help, and may not be needed
4N seems simple enough
4F is also simple enough, but may require inputs at 2K and 2L to work to determine 5th position (i assume 5th gear)

So the unknowns are 3N and 3P (and 3H if you want EVAP), but those can be tested using either a multimeter or oscilloscope on a working stock ECU

From my understanding, the operation between 1500-3300 rpm would be vacuum conditions only. I have not looked into the operation of 3H fully though.

Posting this in the adaptronic section as opposed to the general tuning forums is for certain only going to net you the opinion of those who are specialized in this product, primarily the salespeople of said product. Look at the last 5 posts in this forum...people talking about not only swapping back and forth between Wari and Eugene due to inconsistencies in the NEW software but also asking if they can run the OLD wari software on the new ecus? The tune can only be as good as the software driving it. I personally would opt to trust the life of my engine to an ECU and supporting software that is proven and not a development project where you are the guinea pig.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt...I'm just an ecu operator, not a salesman.
