Question Just curious, how much power do you think I'll make next week?

This old motor has me confused. I know about the cracking problem but want to know how far I can take it and what to expect.

It's a streetported S4 motor, running non-intercooled with Methanol Injection and E85.

B10EGV Plugs
E6K
TII coils
MSD 6AL on Leading
S475 Turbo
(8) 1680 cc injectors
(1) Aeromotive A1000 Pump
E&J Throttlebody
JW Intake

How much horsepower= ALL...

Please don't save any hp for no one. Keep it all to yourself. lol

I've been silently watching your build. Great stuff mang. Im in the process of getting a T6 manifold from aspec soon and a S475 also and doing the 5" exhaust. So im stked to see what you will put down..

500hp@19
600hp@23

When you say the cracking problem, do you mean the rear iron?

Yeah, the rear iron is what I was referring to.

More than stock.

Best of luck, and hope nothing unfortunate happens.

Really?

I was always told that a S4 motor could only handle 400 hp or so.

Did you pinn the motor???
My S4 cracked the plate on the Dyno 3 weeks ago at 440Hp because it wasn't pinned. I have now pinned it and put it back together. I will be going back to the Dyno to finish tuning her. I am not looking to increase the HP because I have NO traction at the current power level so I just want to tune for driveability.

BTW... Here's my setup..
S4 TII streetported in an 85 GSL-SE
T70 Master Power turbo
720/1600 Injectors
MicroTech LT8S
TII coils
MSD6A and 6AL
Aeromotive A1000 pump
Tuned on 93 pump gas...

As for your question..
I would have to agree with Anthony NYC and his numbers...

i don't believe the s4 irons are hp limited at 400hp.. Although they are weaker..

Don't rattle the motor and i don't see why you can't make some good power...

The S475 really needs 30psi and above before it starts to really make power..

Not sure exactly how far you want to push but here's my estimates..
You should see somewhere around
425~475 @ 15psi
450~500 @ 20 psi
525~575 @ 25psi
550~625 @ 30psi

Yeah but I thought you had the motor pinned or something. I've seen a few failures getting close to the 450 mark.

How does e85 compare to other fuels like c16 and meth?,sorry I havent had anything to do with e85 ,havent even looked into the stuff. What do the egts do at a given power level compared to c16 or meth??,I assume very low considering the no intercooler idea,if so can the same power and reliability be achieved with e85??
Has the S475 got the 74mm comp wheel??

Cheers
Brent

who told you this?

Ive seen S4 motors in the 750hp range..

Any rear iron will break unless you add more integrity to the engine using oversize bolts/studs then once you solved the rears cracking after a little more HP you will see front irons cracking.

I truly believe S4 irons are just as capable as any other iron.

I'm just going by what I read on the internets. Yes, I know.......

Honestly, I'd be content with 400 hp. I just want to run 12.99

I wish it was pinned.

The motor was found in someones shed. I'm guessing that it was streetported because the ports looked cleaned up from the outside.

12.99? You don't need an oversized hair dryer with a 4 link tubbed car for that. Just put a 13bbridgeport N/A and you'd be there easily. Could have saved big bucks.

Yeah, spun a bearing at 28 psi. My motor ended up being a 100K mile S4 unopened motor.

I guess they don't like rpm.

Other things that wen't wrong.

1. We couldn't get my intake temps below 220. The two M14 methanol nozzles weren't enough.

2. Ignition was having issues, we were having alot of breakup with the B10EGV plugs. We ended up using the stock plugs (9's) and those seemed to help clear everything up.

Throw us some rwhp # and damn I didn't know you need to run 28psi on a 74mm turbo to make 350rwhp?

It only made 425 whp on 28 psi.......... 220 degree intake temps and a stock motor isn't the best hp combo

Sorry to hear about the motor. I'm surprised that methanol didn't keep it cool enough. I don't know how much more you'd want to run before just switching out to a complete methanol fuel system.

Not problem at all. I blew it up on purpose, Steve wanted to stop at 300 hp since it wasn't going as planned. I said **** it, turn the boost up until it won't run no more.

I'm not going to run methanol. It looks like I'll just need to somehow fit a intercooler in there somewhere.

Yeah an intercooler would bring the IAT down. I dynoed my car in a 98 degree weather using an ebay intercooler boosting 39psi on an S372 turbo The timing is really conserative at 10* with afr at 11.2
