Your thoughts on the ebay 'Godspeed' rad...

OK, so first things first.... i relise that i am on ebay, everything is too good to be true... however, this rad seems like it may have some potential.

3 year warrenty, they state that is better than KOYO.. im not sure if this is true, however that seems like a decent warrenty granted they dont go out of buisness by then.

Does anybody have this rad... is it pure junk compared to other aftermarket options?

Thanks in advance.

^ Thanks, aparently there is no problem with the godspeed rad fitting... only need an AST welded on.

Hmmm, i dont know... ebay always freaks me out..

And besides the godspeed website lists the rad for $219, ebay is 225.. that proves there is something going on. In fact everything the ebay seller is listing is on the godspeed site.... What a bunch of bull.

So i guess this raises another question..... What are your thoughts on Godspeed products....

youll notice the bottom hose is long and NOT pointed to the right like the factory rad. This makes it difficult to install without kinking the radiator hose.

These companies have absolutely NO R&D. They get someone to draw them up some plans/ measurements and then they will go make it. The quality is there because they make so many of them but fitment is a joke.

Its bloody obvious they never tested this radiator in a FD, they use their buyers as guinea pigs and when things go wrong they expect us to send this item back for a 'refund' at our expense with a list of what was wrong with it. For you guys its not so bad cos you have a distributor, but in Aus i was dealing with China.

at the end of the day, you guys get Koyos so cheap, why would you bother with anything else.

I often wonder the same thing. A radiator is one of the cheaper mods for this car. Why take a huge risk with some no name company when you can get a Koyo or Fluidyne for not that much more.
We're only talking $100-$150 difference at most.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Save $200 bucks but then end up on the side of the road, because the rad sprung a leak. In the event that it happens: Hopefully the leak get’s cought in time. Otherwise it’s rebuild time.

Fitment should not be on the top of the list. Cooling capabilities & durability come first..

GODspeed or SATANspeed?

I agree, but not completly... let me tell you a little story...

December 26th, 2007 -

A MONTH ago by factory radiator finally gave up the ghost on my FD i bought new in '95. I've been waiting YEARS for this. So, what shall I replace it with??? I love working on my little toy

Jan 2, 2008 -

GODSPEED to the rescue! And only $229 with a 3 year warrentee (plus $40 s/h)! OH SWEET!

So, I ebayed that puppy and five days later, there it was... ready to install.

Jan 7, 2008 -

OH NO! What's this??? The FAN set won't fit? OH NO!

So, I called the 626 a/c and got ahold of some loser named CHAN.

CHAN said, in his chinese accent, "send radiator back and we give money. we no mess with exchange. you not satisfied with this you never satisfied. we deal with customers like you all time."

WOW! How defensive little guy! But it LOOKS like a sweet radiator sittin' in my garage, so I told him, "hey, just send me one that doesn't suck and keep the money... you know, exchang-ee?"

I even send him some photos ... like 10 of 'em and took measurments for him. Asked him who did his R&D and Quality Control. He avoided my querries (telling, no?) and asked me to, instead, drill some holes and file some crap to make it fit. I will NOT DO THAT! What a joke! If I'm gonna spend money, ANY money, this it's gonna plug-and-play!

He ended up saying he'd send another one as soon as he got mine back.

Jan 4th, 2008 -

I sent it back... should have cross-shipped it and put in on my credit card but hell, I got another car... who cares about a little time in the garage, right?

Wrong! waited and waited and waited.... and waited some more... had to call several times... then voila!

Jan 25th, 2008 - yesterday

I got the new super awesome godspeed radiator in! oh joy!!!

1) this time the packing was crap. Not a tight fit and caused some scatches. No biggie

2) Wait a sec! THIS radiator SUCKS CRAP!!! NO fit at ALL this time! The mounting bracket at the bottom was not just a little off like the last one, it's WAY FREAKIN' NO WAY IN HELL off.

3) And the top screw-in mounts? OH HELL NO! Even *IF* [HUGE "if"] if could get the fan in the mounting bolt-holes do NOT line up NO WAY IN HELL!

4) If I just thought, "screw it, I'll install it without the fans"... forget that! The mounting posts on the bottom are WAAAAAY off!!!!

Oh, Godspeed, suck my crotch! I have given you TWO chances!!!

I'm done. I'm gonna spend the extra hundred or so and get a koyo.

And yes, I AM expecting it to DROP IN! FAN and ALL!

Wow... I guess if something seems too good to be true it is. DO NO MESS with godspeed radiators, my rx-7 brothers.

Amen
