as soon as i receive the front calipers i will be out...
my understanding is the new design calipers have been completed, are being painted, will be bench tested and shipped to me. the stainless steel pistons are in late stages of pre-production and should be in my hands in under 2 weeks.
there have been no compromises, and i am confident that it will be the highest performance brake setup ever offered for the FD.
warren and RB have done a great job not only in design but in getting it done so we can go out and burn up the track.

the rear RB rotors should work w the 99 spec caliper. this is premised on my understanding that the caliper is the same as the pre-99 FD caliper and that the difference is in the caliper mounting bracket.
i invite anyone who KNOWS this to be accurate to chime in. the question being:
will a 93-95 caliper fit in a 99 caliper mounting bracket?
(the 99 caliper mounting bracket will not work as the RB rotor is larger in diameter.)

How come no one answer this quetion?
Basically, the only difference between a 99 and a 93 caliper is a new cast portion with the mounting tabs (longer on a 99). It appears that RB has cast a new part with even longer tabs for their rotor, so I don't see any reason why you couldn't replace that portion of the 99 as easily as you do the 93.

Space when caliper pistons are fully retracted: 56.4mm
Less two brake pads: 14.8x2=29.6mm
Net space for rotor: 26.8mm
When RB two piece rotor of 24mm is installed
Net space for pads = 32.4mm(or max pad thickness of 16.0mm)
However one customer reported using EBC pad which has 17mm thickness and will not fit our two piece rotor.
Prospective customers are hereby advised to verify the thickness of brake pads and make sure the total thickness is not over 16.0mm and insure the caliper pistons are fully compressed in order to fit our front two piece rotor w/o fitment issue.
Average thickness of pads were 15.7mm.
Now if you add the Mazda SS shim, they might be over 16mm. I do not have any extra shims to measure and did not want to pull mine apart until my RB kit arrives.
But the pads have a steel shim on them which is not needed with the Mazda shims. I removed these EBC shims which do not cover the complete pad width.
They measure .61mm. This leaves the naked pads with a thickness of 15.09mm. This should work with the Mazda shims which are thiner.
I wonder if the customer left the EBC shim on and also used the Mazda shim?
I didn't personally bother, I know of two cars over here that have had the brackets imported from Japan and have reported no issues fitting the original calipers to the larger rotor.

assuming that the earlier caliper fits the later extension bracket RB indicates it would be possible to offer a two piece replacement RZ rotor.
since it would require a special production run w it's attendant fixed costs it would take a number of preorders. it is not something that could happen overnight, but i am saying that it is do-able.

Howard- what brand/model rims are those? What offset?
Do they require spacers to work on the FD?
Curious where you got them from?
They look pretty lightweight. 2 piece wheel?

i think they are the ultimate FD wheel w regard to track performance.
correct size(9.5 and 10.5) , strong, light relatively inenxpensive for a first class wheel.. they will require some rear fender mods but nothing drastic... see the Shine/Burnout rear fender lips...
front is 18 X 9.5. +30 19.4 pounds. fits w my rolled fenders.
18 X 10.5 rear is 19.6 pounds. (i wouldn't race on anything lighter). one piece. +40 offset

OEM 16 inch wheels stock will not clear in the rear.
if you choose to file off the caliper re-inforcement ribs they will clear. the magnitude of the effect that on caliper rigidity is unknown.
if it was me and i wanted to keep the stock wheels i would grab the file.

2 valve stems? good question, supposedly you fill on one and monitor pressure on the other according to Enkei.

i have gotten along fine w one valve stem so far so it wasn't a primary consideration
