I've got the Innovate LM-1. I haven't hooked it up to my datalogit yet but I've heard it works. I just haven't had the time to try mine out yet.

I have the LM-1 and it works great. Had to adjust voltage vs. AFR slightly to correct for difference in grounding. Indicates about four times faster than the PFCs display.

No. O2 sensor control can be turned off and then the narrow band (stock) O2 sensor is not needed. This thread is talking about an aftermarket wide band O2 sensor which is almost necissary when tuning a car. The new Innovative WBO2 setup is very nice with dual programmable outputs and a differential ground hookup that should make it more accurate and easier to hook up to the Datalogit than the LM-1. I haven't hooked mine up yet though .

Yes, It should work without the guage and would be a very cheap and nice WBO2 setup to hookup to the Datalogit. You could always buy the XD-1 guage later on. It's really a very nice guage but the digital guage might not be for everyone. The LC-1's outputs are programmable so any AFR guage could theoretically be made to work accuratly.

I bought the old LM-1 and used it exclusively with the datalogit for a while. Everything worked beautifully. For what it's worth, I was the one having lots of trouble with the AEM wideband giving me an unusable signal, so I was very happy when I plugged in the LM-1 and everything was fine.

Just got the XD-1 display to finish off the package. I'm VERY pleased with the display. It's really nice being able to keep an eye on the AFR, and there's tons of good features. You can set the range you want the analog LEDs to cover, set their individual colors, set an alarm if you have the sensor box for the LM-1, keeps up with max/min, button on the gauge to request recording or calibration from teh LM-1 so you can tuck that box completely away....... I'm very pleased with everything.

Yeah, another cool thing about the XD-1 is it is THIN. Maybe 1/2 an inch thick. You can just stick it to the dash if you wanted......

i know the answers prob a yes, but just to make sure. im thinking of getting an lc-1 along with the pfc and datalogit. thatll provide the afr information to the datalogit and display it right there with the rest of the readings (rpm, boost, temp, ect.) too right (say on a line graph)? so it would be pointless to buy the lm1 with the rmp converter because thats just to log the info in its own logger when i could just hook up the lm1 alone to the datalogit without the rpm converter to provide the same information?

Exactly. The LC-1 has analog outputs that you can hook into the datalogit box, and then you have AFR data in your datalogit logs. So you don't need to use any of the logging abilities of the LM-1/LC-1, and you don't need the RPM converter or anything else from Innovate. This setup is actually better than logging with the wideband, since the datalogit software puts the AFRs directly on your fuel maps which makes the data REALLY easy to interpret.

You should be able to, but you might have overheating issues. They sell (or you can make) a heat sink which is apparently necessary if you're going to have the sensor that close to your turbo outlet.

Hey TailHappy,
Can you give me a step by step hook up on hooking the LM-1 up to the datalogit?
I can't get mine to log anything but 0's...
Thanks!

Without going to all that trouble, I bet it's this... Go to the Monitor Screen in the datalogit and Check the box beside Aux A/D....that's more than likely the reason you're getting all 0's...

u seem to know what your talking about tailhappy so ill ask u. ive read that wideband sensors can only last from 50-100 hours sometimes. is that true? cause otherwise what the hecks the point of having a 200 guage thats only hooked up when u are tuning cause u cant use the wb sensor daily. i kind of want it permanent so i can always monitor with the guage too but then just be able to hook up the laptop and tune.

lol, well I won't pretend to be an expert, but I've read a lot about the subject...

Yes, some widebands can only be accurate for that amount of time. That is one reason I liked the Innovate widebands. They are the only ones I'm aware of that have a calibration feature. So as you're driving, every time you let off the throttle it shows you the O2 content in the air, and since that's a constant, it lets you verify that your sensor is still accurate. Anytime the calibration gets off, due to carbon build-up or age or whatever, you can simply recalibrate it at the press of a button. Most of the other widebands have a fixed calibration in them so once that starts drifting, you have to buy a new sensor.

However, regardless, when the sensor finally fails, you just need to buy a new sensor. It's only about $50 from VW parts warehouses, so that's not a huge deal.

I personally run my wideband all the time in my daily driver, and I've only had to replace it once this year. And that was because my dumb-*** let the harness get shredded by the drive shaft..........

Also to add, at least for the Innovate, the biggest thing that seems to be killing sensors is moisture during startup. The sensor superheats as soon as it's turned on, and then the puff of moisture during startup causes the ceramics in it to shatter. For that reason they recommend turning on the sensor AFTER you start the car. Switching it on and off constantly is a little bit of a pain, but it's worth it to me for the peace of mind of keeping a vigilant eye on my AFRs......

I don't think you'll be unhappy with the LC-1. My only complaint with the LM-1 is it's size. I would have gotten the LC-1 if it had been out at the time.

I'm actually just using the cigarette lighter for power right now. There's a switch on the side of the LM-1 to turn it on and off so I just use that. Need to hardwire it at some point but just haven't gotten around to all that...

Thanks! I didn't have that box checked. I've got my labtop with me here at work so I can only confirm that part so far. When I get home I'll hook it up to the car and see how it works. I appreciate it! I thought it was probably something simple...

No problem. I only knew because I did the same thing and didn't notice the box until I had gotten out my voltmeter and was testing everything.......
