YUP! MY 7 overheated today.

i had a post before about my seven almost overheating, i just wanna start a new post (^_^) again

yup, it was nuts....it overheated, smoke coming out, coolant leaking and ****....

i do not know if theres a leak somewhere but i think its the thermostat. i hope it is the thermostat and no leak from the hoses. i think it just overflowed, (well actually, its my friend who said that heeheehee i wanna sound like i know something here ), can you explain this to me? why is this happening? whats up with the thermostat? overflow?

are 7s always like this when its a hot day? its frggin hot today here at san diego. r u havin probelms with your 7s too? i mean overheating and all.

have a nice day!

If you live someplace that gets really hot you definately need some kind of temp gauge and keep an eye on things. I use the Power FC as a temp gauge here in Phoenix during the summer. If temps get up over 100C I turn off the A/C and they usually drop down to about 95C. This is with a big Koyo radiator. Without a temp gauge and with a stock radiator I wouldnt drive in anything above 90 degree weather.

You need to start the car, let it warm up, shut it off and see if it leaks again. It could have been one of the coolant caps is going bad. Also could have been the cose into the overflow. You could also have a bad hose, should check for that as well. There are so many things that it could be, seriously just warm it up again and see what it does.

You need to check that out ASAP as if you don't already know, overheating can ruin your engine. As "Tom93R1" mentioned, there are a myriad of reasons why your car will overheat.

I don't have overheating issues with my car at all. I have an aftermarket temp. gauge and keep tabs on water temps. If say, I'm in bumper-to-bumper traffic on a hot day and it gets up to 210°, I turn the AC on and that usually drops it down to ~180°. Generally speaking, you don't want to go over 230°.

It seems to me that the reason there is over flow is because it got so hot, the coolant started to boil/it built up pressure in the hoses. That pressure has to go somewhere. If you have bad caps it may be loosing pressure or leaking from there. If the coolant is boiling, there is too much air in your coolant system. You'll need to bleed it out if thats the case. Are your fans running? You'll definately need them in those kind of temps.

im pretty sure that my fans are working. im just curious why 'today' my car overheated but few days ago here in sandiego is even hotter!!!waay hotter

i understand your explanation tho, thanks. if by any chance i cannot get a hose right way (if theres a hole in it), can i wrap the hose with a duck tape or something so i can cover the leak momentarily?

No, and 100% anti-freeze is BAD. How about I shoot you for being dumb now?

Hold on...never mind. After the flaming you're going to get, you'll end up shooting yourself.

Living in the area you do, you probably need a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water.

More than likely you are in the prodromal stages of a coolant seal failure. If you car over heats so quickly it is very likely that your seals are going bad.

Carlo, you are going to destroy your beautiful car if you don't either learn how to take care of it, or pay someone else to take care of it for you.

For now, you're better off paying a mechanic who knows about rotaries. Have someone fix your car, if it can be fixed... It's sad to see such a beautiful design get destroyed because you try to treat it like it's a Honda. Think Ferrarri, that is how much maintenance your RX-7 TT needs, Ferrarri-level of care, and if you don't have the knowledge to take care of your car like that, you should hire someone who does, or kiss your baby goodbye.

Dude seriously,
take it to a reputable rotary mechanic, RIGHT now,

take ur filthy paws off it !!
in fact, have it towed there! Underneath a car cover so your site doesnt somehow taint the purity of the car!!

for SHAME !!! FOR SHAAAME!

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's situations like this that make us "old" folk cringe when we see another teenager get an FD.
