Not when I'm responding to something that Damian posted, it's not. Work on your reading comprehension.

I doubt many of us are the original owners and paid 33-40k for our current FD's
As if that weren't already totally obvious...

Bullshit?!?! If I can buy a rolling FD shell TODAY for 6k and dump 44k in mods (give or take the numbers) and end up with a car that will out perform a stock z06 for the same price, how is that bullshit?
Because you can say the same for any older car to compare it to a newer car, and it's still bullshit.

Well since this discussion is going beyond the mere hypothetical and getting somewhat fanciful, I'll toss this one in for the sake of a more apples-to-apples comparison:

Which would you prefer, an '02 Z06 Vette or an '02 Spirit-R RX-7?

(assuming the latter were legal to run in this country) Same year and somewhat near the same pricepoint.

I'm not a vette expert - I've rarely driven them, but I've chased a few around the track. The one thing that I do know is that in the two cases I know of where people traded their FD in for a Vette, *both* individuals later regretted making the trade.

Neither one traded for an '02-'04 Z06, apparently...

Probably not. But it's the only firm data I have.

Now if you will excuse me, I'm gonna go get my FD out of the garage and enjoy a drive before the winter weather sets in. In the end, that's all that matters.

I'm sure I'd get used to it, but i don't want to get used to it... i want it to feel right... something I never had to wait for with the FD.

Great post. I feel exactly the same way. I keep trying different cars but nothing FITS ME quite like an FD.

The Z06 is a wonderful car and the new one could be one of the greatest cars ever made but my *** will be spending 05 in the cockpit of one FD or another.

I saw the new Z06 at the L.A. Auto show, it's pretty sweet. I'd like to try one of them and also an Elise.

Also, I highly recommend go-karting to anyone who hasn't tried it. The quick ones are a hoot, and it's super-cheap and fun to race wheel-to-wheel with friends who are all in the same vehicle.

Oh, wargasm, I played around with the ballance needle on the Profec and it tamed the fluctuation.

Thanks.

I'll second that. Although the go-karts I've driven were limited to 35-40 mph (I'm sure scotty305 has raced some of the more powerful karts ) it was still a great experience even though I placed average amongst my friends. Nothing like participating in a race based purely on skill.

A friend of mine raced in some of the more powerful karts that topped out around 80 and now is recommending that I try them. Hopefully I'll be able to this summer.

hmmm...old broken junk...or new tight clean poon

i think ill take the fresh poon thank you.

Im actually looking at both the zo6 and the m3 right now....the fd world is full of crooked shops, unreliable mods and upgrades, and equal parts elation and frusteration. Im tired of it...at least til i get to drive it again..haha. the idea that the zo6 will run if i give it a good beating and not give me a heart attack if i hear a sound under the hood is appealing as hell.
