yet another coolant buzzer thread..
yet another coolant buzzer thread..
so ive held off creating one and after searching and trying everything i knew i give up..
to start off i rebuilt my car so it was drained from coolant (touched everything BUT the short block so the engine went untouched)
i bought the car without an ast. filled the car up with coolant everything drove it around a under 10 miles, light went on and i refilled it. i let it sit overnight without the cap to let the coolant settle and burp, added more coolant, no more problems
finally drove drove my car for the first time yesterday to get retuned. drove about 250 miles no problem got a tuned, left KDR performance and maybe 50 miles later coolant light came on. stopped to check it out, it was still full.. tried burping it more, added some water but no avail. driving home with the god forsaken beeping.
my friends and i came to the conclusion that there was still air left in the system since...
1 it was full everytime we opened it
2 the sytem was previously emptied out
3 no ast.
so today i got around to installing my pettit AST.. i installed as followed...
top of coolant neck-------------------------- coolant overflow reservoir
bottom coolant neck------------------------- middle of ast
AST bottom----------------------------------- bottom of radiator
AST top---------------------------------------- coolant overflow reservoir
started the car up, buzzer still on.
let the car idle to reach normal operating temp, buzzer still on.
turned car off to check again, still full.
drove around <10mi to get gas, buzzer still on.
GRANTED that my engine temp gauge is working (under c when first started then rises to the middle when engine is warm) the engine isnt over heating.
specs
im using peak 50/50 antifreeze
koyo radiator
pettit AST
im kinda ruling out air in the system unless you guys think otherwise...
i DONT believe its the front sensor as it looks fine
i dont have my manual (lent it to afriend) so i dont know where the rear sensors are so that may be a possibility?
Side note, i had a loose ground issue last night so not sure if that may have any relevance? (coolant light buzzer came on approx 6 hours b4 i had the ground issue) it was the plastic clip wire ground from the back of the UIM (engine) to the chassis (firewall)
PS. and to top it off, me hood release cable i just purchased 2 months ago just broke, again.
someone please shed some light and help me love this car again........

A new sensor is around $30.00 from malloy, they do fail. I have several used ones if you need one that way, but I recommend just buying sensor. That is if it comes on pretty much immediately after starting the car and you know the coolant is full.
Dont forget to verify the connector over by the power steering / ac if you have one neither or both.
There is a black / black single wire connector over there that is for the buzzer, but not the guage.
Just a thought. Simple and is often over looked.

that was the wire... hehe.... I fixed the connector for him too! he is happy as a pig in poop right now... except.. the car came apart again for me to re tap his slightly stripped manifold bolt for the ground points..
