a Interesting Non Starting issue...

So, Here it goes

I pulled the motor area apart, Repaired the damaged engine harness and put it back in.

When I first fired it up, it ran very rough and it was definitely spitting fuel like none other. Wide band read super rich and the car wouldn't go into boost

So I deflood the car ( EGI fuse and the ignition harness disconnect and crank)

After that... I put it back on.. and now the car wouldn't fire up.

Starter is fine,
I pulled the plugs suspecting fouling of the plugs... Dry as a whistle... so why not I'll replace them again.

recheck everything. I check the fuel pump and the lines... I'm getting fuel all the way up to the injectors. That I know for sure.

I've been looking at my commander and my AVCR.... both can read injector duty. Upon start up they sit at 0.0% not even a flinch... are they supposed to move around? Did I not ground a injector properly? or are my injectors toast? Both primaries can't go bad all at once..?!

Help?

btw I have the shop manual.. and it told me to check throttle position sensor... coolant sensor... Those are all good...

Is the tach bouncing very very slightly while the car is cranking? If the trigger wheel is not close enough to the crank angle sensors it will not fire the injectors. Check there first.

the tach is not bouncing at all...

I'll definitely did not mess with any of the crank angle sensors.. but I'll definitely take a look at that...

any other ideas?

i would make sure that your CAS wires are ok, because mine were bare right at the connector and were touching one another therefore not producing a tach signal or spark. hearing that your "repairing" the main harness doesnt sound good because it most likely dried up and cracking. so thats where i would start.

no no the repair was because of fire damage..

So I removed all the fire damaged parts.. and resoldered and shrink wrapped new wire on. The tranmission harness was also mangled.

I am going out to get some di electric cleaner to clean the plugs for the CAS's. They look filthy. So I'll let you know how that goes.

(I'm mecp certified so I'm not a noob to electricity and I know how to repair wiring.. but I eliminated all of the rats nest connectors. I had originally had resistors built in for all of them.. but supposedly I don't need them for single turbo so I removed them. could that be at fault?

That would have nothing to do with the car starting or not starting. If the tach is not bouncing at idle while cranking you have found your problem, it is related to the crank angle sensors. Likely the wiring since there was fire damage in the past. You know you can find a good used harness for around $300.00 correct? You are not a newbie to wiring so you know what all can happen when there is an electrical fire.

i had a small fire and it melted some connectors and i tried to repair but i just didnt like the fact that all the wire were one bend away from snapping in half. so i bit the bullet and bought a brand new harness and it is by far the best thing i have ever done for my car. but +1 for the CAS wire there shielded and if there not in really good shape there gonna cause problems.

Well.. I found the problemo...

I found that the CAS wiring has finally broken.. right at the plug...

So I have a guy in central PA that's 4 hours away.. he's driving down to drop off a new set of plugs for me.

I'll let you know how it fares..

The fire damage was no where near the CAS... it was actually right by the injectors.. the bulk of the main harness... but it was isolated for a 2 inch area. injector plugs were replaced and along a bunch of other plugs. So it's a brand new harness. except for 5 plugs. I reused the Throttle position sensor plug, the Water temp, large plug by the alternator, and the two CAS plugs. and turns out the CAS plugs were bad..

I removed all of the wiring and replaced each one. That was the most painstaking thing I ever done.... so I got fresh wiring everywhere... but like you said..a good used harness is around 300. So I built a new engine harness for 100 dollars.

That was all the material.. tape, wire, shrink wrap... solder I had and I have a couple soldering irons.. it just took forever.
