yellow-white muck in oil filler neck

checked my oil level today and saw some gooey yellow-white oily-vaseline type substance inside the oil filler neck right at the top where the cap threads end. I cleaned it out while topping of the oil level and seems to have been accumulating over the last month or so...

this normal?

1700 miles on current oil change and about 10k on fresh rebuild, mostly stock everything running pretty sweet, just wanna keep it that way

could this stuff be getting in the oil pressure sensor and causing occasional erratic readings? Sometimes pressure seems fine, then suddenly drops to 0. This is usually while warming up. I always check oil & coolant level and fill up when needed and add premix when gassing up.

Sounds like water condensation. It creates that emulisified muck your describing. Common in spring and fall, when it's cooler outside and is aggravated by short trips. The car is either not brought up to full operating temp...or is not kept there for long periods.
It's pretty harmless and probably has nothing to do with your OP readings. The oil pressure sensors, especially the connection is trouble prone. Clean the connection thoroughly and see what you get.

u can run a catch can with a suction tube to the frontside of one of the turbos and this will suck of the foam and condensation. i have this happen and my catch is about half full by the time i change my oil at 2k. since i started the catch can i have no more foam or goo in the neck its all in the can

lol, i warm up to 180F before driving at all, and i redline everytime I drive it ... though it does get parked in a cool outdoor garage while im at work if I drive it in... would premix that dilutes into the oil cause an increase in foam production?

so, 2000 miles is too long interval to change oil? i guess i could do every 1500

i will add the catch can to my ever growing mod list

at least there is no foam on the dipstick, but i did read that a stuck open pcv valve caused a ventilation issue. i know i have a stuck egr and sometimes throws an ecu error, no biggie but maybe the egr contributes to the condensation...

It's aggravated by short trips and/or not leaving at operating temp for long periods. But like the condensation that forms in the exhaust when it gets cool outside, it's hard to avoid completely.

No, it's a water and oil emulsion.

Not really. I changed my oil a little over a week ago (< 100 miles) and I have it from some of the short trips I make.
I've never tried it but if it's really bothering you, you could try leaving your car idle for a while with a cloth or rag stretched over the filler neck..effectively venting it to let the steam out. Just be sure to replace the cap before you drive.
