y pipe coupler won't come off

Hi all, I just got my 93 RX7 a month ago and during my test drive there were no problems. However, now that I have it home, I've been getting the loud whistling sound that I've read that alot of owners have had. I want to inspect my y pipe coupler for tears but for some reason after I take off both hose clamps on the coupler I still can't pull off the coupler. Is this normal? Is there a special way to pull it off? Maybe this is the reason I"m having problems? Your help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Steve

if you want to take the coupler off u should probably use a screw driver and push it under the the coupler/pipe meets and use some soap water. It takes some work but you will be able to get it off. I think the heat probably got it stuck on the pipe.

Yeah use a screwdriver like he suggested. If it's too bad you can always slice it from bottom to top with a razor and then peel it away with some needle nose or something. You don't really have to worry about hurting the y-pipe as long as you aren't using excessive force.

I have another oem coupler if you need it. I paid $46 for it new but I'll sell it for $12 shipped anywhere in the lower 48. I used it around 4,000 miles and then went single turbo.

Best of luck!

When hosing gives me a problem, I use the technique as mentioned above (screwdriver) with some WD-40. Usually, I spray the WD-40 onto where the hose mates with the coupler (in your case), and then pull.
