XS Power Mid Intercooler

Has anybody had this type of MIC? and what numbers have you guys had with it?
I'm currently making 331whp on 10 psi but last tuned I was at around 370-380ish at 15 psi. I'm curious about how much can this IC hold up to

I used one for a short time with stock twins and stock boost. It didn't have the XS Power logo but it was the exact same intercooler. I made a custom duct out of fiberglass for it too. It worked quite well and was much better than the stock SMIC. I've seen some pictures of people running single turbos with smaller SMICs.

I've used one for years, also with a custom duct, but only with stock twins at stock boost. Since each use case if different, to know how much boost you can safely push through it you'll need to datalog your intake temps and see.

I should mention that my current setup uses a larger ebay intercooler in a v mount. The previous owner installed the v mount setup and it's been holding steady for years at 12psi /357 whp. Intake iat are usually around 38C. I've only seen 40-42C a couple of times when it was +35C out.

It works great and it's cheap, at stock boost its as good as a m2 medium. The pettit cool charge ii duct fits with it perfectly snug.

Will it hold over 400 + whp? Or all depends on temps as boost gets higher. I was creeping from 10-15 psi from 331 to 385ish when tuning on dynojet

Oh for the love of Jesus...this is at least the THIRD thread you've started asking the same question. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-gene...ooler-1108399/
Asked and answered. And could have sworn earlier you claimed you were buying, or going to buy, a M2.

Its an Ebay core basically, but can work decent if properly ducted. An M2 has a much better core. The biggest shortcoming of all stock mounts is they heat soak because they sit directly on top of the radiator. This can be worked around with meth injection, but a V mount is far preferable.

he obviously needs more opinions. wait for next week's thread, as to be continued.

my new opinion is he should learn to read. everything he ever would want to know was posted in links in his previous threads. but here it is, another wasting space and peoples time.

Well, he's "going in a different direction" now. ---> https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...ooler-1111831/ So all three threads can probably be closed.
Haven't checked to see how many more can be closed when he sells it.

not to mention he's asking about how much they cost new, for an old beat up used intercooler.

for anyone else who comes across this thread. I used this XS power IC on my last FD in stock configuration with a pettit duct that fit pretty well with it.

I tracked the car at NCM in Kentucky when it was about 50 degrees outside (we were wearing sweaters and hoodies around all day...):
on both the front and back straights the IATs went from about 120*F to about 160*F. this is too hot. this intercooler is not good enough to use for tracking, at least in the stock SMIC configuration, even with a good pettit duct. this was with a borg warner S360 turbo running ~10psi which is a little bit more airflow than the stock twins at the same boost (though not much more, as the stock twins flow a good amount of air at low pressure)

here is a video in which you can see the temps. the IAT is the top "number gauge" in the top middle of my tablet display:

I am actually using the same intercooler now, but I flipped it over and am using it in a v-mount configuration, and it is working better (but I have a cold-air intake as well) on the stock twins. this is a good budget intercooler if you want a slight upgrade over stock, but it is not good enough for tracking in SMIC configuration in even moderately warm ambient temperatures.

take a look at the cooling fins that run inside the bars (inside the intercooler, lateral fins). there are very few of them compared to more expensive intercooler cores, as Ihor mentioned above. some of the more expensive intercooler cores (spearco, for example) have at least twice the number of internal cooling fins as this cheap ebay core does.

that being said, these can be had for like $70 and they do a decent job (better than the stock intercooler). if you flip them over into VMIC configuration (which obviously requires a VMIC style radiator as well) they will work even better.
