XS engineering vacuum upgrade

hey gang, i got a question about the XS eng. vacuum upgrade kit. I recently came across a dyno sheet of a stock FD with the XS vacuum upgrade and it produced roughly 29 more hp than stock. My question is, is there anything special about this kit versus normal silicone vacuum hoses? Or is there something different in the XS kit? Or is the XS kit a whole 'nether deal all together? Anyone?

The "gain" was over a stock FD with LEAKY and BAD hoses. They also used the results from a strong FD, I believe they quoted 230 rwhp. It is just like any hose job.

Didn't SCC take their project RX-7 to XS to produce those numbers?

So basically you pay $500 for a silicone hose set that you could save hundreds of dollars for by buying your own Silicone hose by the foot? LOL

Good point.Will be doing that project soon. Hopefully I'll find some viton for a good price, otherwise it'll be standard silicone. And not from XS.

Viton is a compound similar to silicone but a lot better. Last longer. Doesn't rip or tear if not cut right and doesn't break down when in contact with certain chemicals. Unfortunately its usually a lot more expensive which is why you don't hear about it as much as silicone. There are some good threads discussing it. Thats where I found out about it. Bakerprecision.com carries it and I think mazdatrix does also.

Hey FordMuscle(that's a good joke by the way). If you don't have any positive input into these threads why don't you go back to your little rustang forum somewhere. It's obvious that nobody here likes you or wants you around. Take the hint.

Darril has finally admitted to being a homosexual. No flames inteded, but I think forcefed and zerobanger should be open about it. It's about time because he was complaining to me earlier how he hates sneaking around. Good for you two!

I did my hose upgrade myself took me a day and never had a problem. As far as XS is concerned that is the only place I ever trusted my car to. The reasons why I think some people would want them to do the jobs are;

1. Don't have the time
2. Don't have confidence in themselves to do it
3. Don't have the tools (hey some people don't)
4. Lazy and have money

But the benifits are that XS will do a leak down test and make sure that there are no vaccum leaks or kinks. Plus the benifit of them having a dyno there they can make sure everything is running right.

One thing that I was happy about is when I uped to single turbo the did a leak down test before my car went on the dyno as a precaution.

Chris

As an update to this silicone hsoe thing, I just had mine finished today at R&R rotary in Upland, and they now charge $375 ($300 labor, $75 hoses/zip ties) stating, "that's way too low, man.... just take a look at what the other guys are all charging"
Oh yeah, it took them 1 1/2 days. It IS better than having my car towed after not being able to put it back together, though....
