Xcessive LIM Users Only...

Good morning all,

I had a couple questions on my new setup using a Xcessive LIM. I have three ideas on what to do and need help deciding what is best. I may be over thinking this but oh well! I will say right off the bat that I will not plug the extra two port with threaded plugs, I am not ruining a 550.00 manifold.

1. Run both the primary and secondary injectors in the LIM and use the block off injector kit I have for the primary location in the iron.
Concern: Will it be more difficult to tune this way? I know its best to have the injector as close as possible to the intake port.

2. Run 4 secondaries (2200cc) and splice into the connectors for the secondaries to run them. (I read on here that you could do that... but it does not seem right to me). Then run the primaries in the iron.

3. Run 2 secondaries in the outer locations and make a "Dummy Injector" out of billet aluminum to plug the extra two ports. Then run the primaries in the iron.

With all this being said, I would obviously like to go with option one so I can run just one rail and simplify my fuel setup. The Secondaries are Bosch 2200cc and the primaries are Bosch 1350cc.

Thanks for your help!

What porting does this engine have? What fuel you running?

You can just use freeze out plugs in the LIM that will not ruin the manifold and can be removed if needed. They can pop out if running high boost though.

Running the primary injector in the manifold will certainly add complexity to tuning, specifically idle, and throttle/transient enrichment. If this is a race only car it won't be such a big deal. But if it's a daily driver and you want factory like drivability, it'll test you.

Mine has threaded plugs in the inner bosses.

Mines has the sealing plugs from xcessive. I believe it's Paul just ask for the sealing plugs he will send them to you free. If you ever decide to go to 4 injectors on the manifold you can reverse the process.

As others mentioned if it's street and mild keep oem location. If it's track and wild upgrade all 4 on the manifold.

Use the freeze plugs on the lower. Use some red lock tite and if you are concerned about them popping out you can weld a couple tacks around each one. Running primaries in the secondary rail will cause idle and tuning difficulties because of atomization issues. Leave the primaries in the center iron. You want the injector as close to the motor as possible.

Thank you everyone for your response. I did find a guy that can make a "dummy" injector out of billet aluminum that goes from the rail down to the port plugging both ends. But otherwise I will just use a freeze plug.

The car is a "daily" that sees 90% street so idle and street driving is a must.

Setup:
Mild street port motor
E85 fuel
1350cc Primaries
2200cc Secondaries
-8 Feed
-6 Return
CJ Motorsports Fuel Rails
Twin Walbro 450LPH Pumps

Does anyone have any opinions on how to run 4 secondary injectors? I was told on here once before that I can just splice into the two that are there (1 each) and run a second injector. My friend last night said that this could be a tuning nightmare because of the resistance difference. Opinions? I am using AEM V1

Best option is switch to an ECU that will handle 6 injectors (Adaptronic etc.). Or research more and see if the AEM can do it. I'm not sure.

Or use dummy injectors with a 4 injector secondary rail (FFE etc.) in the middle ports of the Xcessive LIM.

I think I am going to buy the Dummy injectors so I dont have to worry about the sealing issues. I am running 25psi so the last thing I want to so is blow a seal out.

Does anyone run 6 injectors with AEM? Id prefer to keep AEM just because its to easy to use.

I run 6 on mine, first on a series 1, now on a series 2.

How did you wire the injectors. I read someone on here just spliced into their secondaries but this seems like it would not work.

Mine are wired in parallel, as I didn't plan on staging the secondaries.

Before you wire up a second set of injectors in parallel, find out what resistance they are and make sure your ECU can handle that.

Most ECUs can handle two or maybe three high resistance injectors in parallel. But two low resistance injectors will damage most.

I am running 2 additional secondaries in a Xcessive LIM and each are on there own dedicated channel. This is on a Series 1 ECU.

I am sorry for all of the novice questions, but when it comes to tuning I know next to nothing!

How did you do this? Did you run additional wires in the harness back to the ecu? This seems to me to be the best way to do this right.

Also my Bosch 2200cc injectors are High Resistance so if I am understanding this correctly I would be able to run them in parallel? Two of each?

Yes, I ran the additional wiring through the harness and simply pinned the wiring where additional injector channels were available. The rest of the set up is done through the software which any reputable AEM tuner can do. I can share my pinout documentation when I get a chance.

Sorry for the delay. It was originally an excel file but should open just fine in this format back to excel.

Wow this will be a huge help, thank you!

Now I just need to get my harness out and start the process. It looks like you pulled the OMP, I can just leave them in the original spot correct?

Anyone have the dimensions on these or know if they will replace the Denso Fuel Injector Part No. 195500-4450 (Secondary injector on the 2004-2008 RX8)?

I need a pair of dummy injectors if anyone has some extras and they will fit.

TIA

The dummies are made to replace the long version 60mm injectors.
