WTF could it be??? Oil smoke

OK, Here's the story:

I've had my FD since July with no boost or oil smoke problem. I had noted that the secondary turbo had a small amount of oil on the outside of the inlet housing.

In March I installed a PFC and mid-pipe and immediately began noticing & smelling oil smoke when I spooled the secondary at WOT. I had been running NO more than 12 PSI at any time. Shortly thereafter, my car would begin blowing oil-smoke after about 60 seconds at idle.

I purchased, and installed a reliably "known good", low mileage set of used stock twins removed to do a single conversion.

No smoke at idle anymore. BUT, 12 PSI at WOT and I'm STILL spewing oil-smoke. I just checked my PCV and it's operating correctly.

Any other suggestions? Besides the turbos? Besides "go single"?

Mike

every time you go midpipe you will smell something. Gas fumes or other stuff. I don't know about oil though. It could be only two things, either turbos or oil seals. Since you changed turbo, there is your answer then.

Did some tuning runs yesterday courtesy of Badog:

WOT pulls to 4200 RPM, no oil smoke/smell.

WOT pulls from 4500 to 7500 RPM, no oil smoke/smell

It seems I am getting the oil smoke only when I transition at WOT. No boost issues whatsoever.

That would hint at the turbos, IMO. The carbon seals in your 'new' turbos are probably okay for now .... but they're warning you. It won't be too long ....

Compression testing fine, vacuum of 15 @ 850 rpm idle.

I even ran a 13.6 at 106.6 MPH (@ 10 psi) last weekend, leaving a smoke trail all the way down the track. No shitty driver comments, first time ever at the track!

Maybe I should go non-sequential. No transition, no smoke?
